Love that Benji’s been on a Taiwanese noodle kick lately. I’m so glad to see you recreate the shallot oil as it’s super easy to make at home and most Taiwanese people have it on hand all the time for a quick meal. Also, kai dong means “let’s start eating” in Mandarin and the dong is pronounced more like the “don” in gyudon or udon. If you and your family enjoy the flavor of these sauces then you should def try to look into trying Taiwanese braised pork over rice (lu ruo fan)! So yummy.

@@BenjiManTVI would say that the braised pork is similar to adobo recipe. My hubs is Chinese and when I saw your recipe it definitely reminded me of it. We use lots of dark soy sauce, star anise, and rock sugar for dishes. I am Mexican and love making his fav dishes. Braised pork belly is one of his faves!

@@BenjiManTVOhhh arroz caldo is also similar to congee! I love that everyone has different cuisines but our dishes are very similar and obviously use ingredients available in our native lands. Happy cooking! Love that you are interactive with the comments. Keep it up Benji!

I love fried onions. I like them kind of dark. I haven't made any fried onions lately, but I like to put the onions in flour sometimes, add salt and pepper and fry in olive oil. I have used coconut oil, but I like olive oil better. ❤❤❤

@Benji Travis You can try adding some chinese black vinegar or plum sauce you can get from chinese supermarket. It will help to level up the depth of the sauce.
