If I have a chance to get ahold of my chute, I'm still alive, and I want it. Replace carry-on bags with parachutes: weight problem solved. If a plane is falling, it will reach lower altitudes safe for jumping.

I think knowing all of this we should be allowed to bring our own parachute and more needs to be done. They now can destroy a person on an airplane or the whole airplane itself by remote so why are they not using knowledge to save lives? It is messed up! The whole system is messed up.

Okay so basically: - Too expensive - Too difficult to learn - People would collide with each other when jumping - Parachutes for everyone means a lot of weight = a lot of extra fuel = a lot of money - Crashes mid air happen due to wind or thunder which is dangerous to jump in

The main reason is the plane is going too fast for a safe exit. Too much risk of colliding with wing and tail. They made the calculation which is safer, parachutes or staying in the plane.

it will definitely. when i was younger I was skydiving and its not hard to learn. And to survive I would just need a minute to tell someone what to do. Not 4 or 5 hours. But yeah its to expensive thats the main reason.

It has nothing to do with safety because the pairachuts could be attached to the passengers seat and automatically timed to eject only a few at a time and when its safe enough to do so...done see Every problem solved that easy ,now its all about cost and design...

Even so, having a parachute still would increase your chances of surviving the fall.

its because 50% of people that travel will not travel as often which leads to many airlines going bankrupt because of how expense the plane ticket will become... its as simple as that.. ticket prices will raise by at least 100% if they implement this idea.

If airline CEO can’t make a profit, then what is worth to them? This is why I believe all industries, aviation or other wise, should be democratically owned by the engineers and workers. Having to depend for innovation on one person is inefficient for creating safe scientific outcomes.

Most people do.

Having piloted (many) times an aircraft with a brs parachute system, I can tell you that it does provide a decent chance for survival PROVIDED you aren’t in the take-off or landing phase of flight. Unfortunately, I knew a pilot who was practicing take-offs and landings one afternoon and (sadly) they had neither the time nor the altitude to activate the parachute. That said, I wouldn’t hesitate to fly any plane with a brs installed. My wife, in fact, insists on it.

I also once read about a suggested system where not the passengers, but their seats would be equipped with such systems. So in an emergency, a hood would flap over their head for O2 supply and their seat belts would strap them automatically, then the back of the plane would open and all the passengers would slide down the rails where the seats are attached to, one after the other, pretty much mass-dumping them in just a few seconds out of the plane, where then the seats would wait until they are at the perfect deploying height.

Thanks for this video -it’s very insightful. I am qualified military parachutists -the feeling and silence in the air (under the canopy) is just amazing.

Experienced jumper that has done several jumps from 15,000 ft. above the Kennedy Space Center in Florida! I absolutely LOVE to jump! It’s a wonderful thrill with an amazing view!!

“You can accept the world as it is or change it.” If I want a parachute, I want a parachute. If only people can fight for their safety in this world, the better.

Not only would parachutes make flight more expensive(and therefore less accessible), but the number of people who die in plane crashes per year is minuscule compared to the number of people who fly or even compared to the number of plane crashes that actually happen. Pilots are trained to do everything in their power to save the plane and its passengers, and they succeed the vast majority of the time. In the rare case that they don’t, it’d be way too late to organize everyone to parachute off of the plane.

Even military cargo aircraft only carry enough parachutes for the flight crew, only to be used if the plane is shot down in combat. No additional chutes are carried for passengers. For commercial airlines, assuming all the passengers were trained in parachuting, most airline crashes occur in take off or landing, where parachutes are worthless. Once in flight, if the aircraft has a catastrophic failure, you won't have time to bail out. If the aircraft is flyable enough to stay airborne, there is no need to bail out.

There are parachutes with rockets. 1, 2, 3, liftoff!

The pressure on the airplane door would be so strong up there and so it’s hard to open an airplane’s door at a high altitude,thats also another reason.

@@georgewashington2893 Did you even know how parachute work? It's a *yes* that you can't open a door from high altitude in a fast failing plane. If you jump at low altitude it's almost the same as free fall from more than 500 feet. You need a bit higher altitude so the parachute have enough time to open and work properly, otherwise you will just hit the earth at around 50 mph.

I flew to a skydive “boogie” and took my skydiving “rig” aka the full skydiving set up; a main canopy, a reserve canopy, the harness and container for the parachutes, on a commercial flight. So actually sometimes there are parachutes on airplanes 😀

i was having this question and i asked it to 2people..1 among them was a pilot ..i was not satisfied with his unclear answer..but now m happy to find this video answering my question...

Man people are freaking out over not having a parachute when it's an absolutely terrible idea. Plane crashes are so extremely rare.

I have asked this same question for many years so thanks so much for your insight. Sending much unconditional love and gratitude! I always thought a plane should be able to land in water and also have wheels which would make more sense when accidents occur. Also if the positive military provided the airplane with survival extensive medical kits and various medical tools that could that could help survivors that could occur in many type of scenarios and food for 2 weeks for everyone that bought a ticket on that airplane including crew and also a very well trained nurse/doctor! Also involving the medical profession with the above mentioned. So whether you land in snow, ice, water, land, jungle, etc. People would have everything they needed to help others and maybe themselves in times of trouble and difficulty. And perhaps like a huge bubblenose or huge airbag at the nose of the airplane for crashing and a way to put out engine fires and have a special energency engine like a backup generator that could override and take over if these things occur and help in the loss of power and engines. And a training program everyone can take in order to know how to operate what is provided in case of emergency before their flight and learn how to operate various things. Or what about Plasma Light ships! But those of the Light know more about what I know for the future. So you have that choice landing on water or land! There is alot of opportunities to make it much better for everyone and start with space between seats. How about bringing all proffesions together in this technology with their ideas! That way everything is covered! Then it is not one person's ideas and a whole array of ideas for the people by the People! Not corporations! And know common law and Univeral Law. Maps and compasses and flashlights, and a protected book on Travel destinations and all about the areas around with important information one will need to know for understanding and knowledge, etc... provided. Or bypass it and rise even higher in thoughts! 👏😲🤓🤔😃🌞🌝🌟❤💖💛💚💙💜

The first issue is owning gn he door because of pressure difference and if you can somehow get the adopt open the plane has to be goin under stall speed ( in a airliner that’s around 140 mph) for you to not get nailed by the wing.

@@JekylViovicente - Experience is largely irrelevant. It's paradoxical on an airliner in that the failure modes that are stable platforms for 100s of jumpers likely don't justify vacating the aircraft in the first place. And the failure modes that do justify jumping are likely not suitable situations for anyone to jump. And I'm not sure what you propose we do with the disabled, elderly and children. This is without getting into the nuances of parachuting from airliners on the best of days. As a bit of irony, a typical sport parachute and aircraft wings are functionally the exact same thing anyways - Airfoils. Which is why aircraft do not fall like rocks in the event of complete engine failure. If the aircraft is structurally sound and there is directional control you're typically better off staying in the aircraft.

I know there are people with more experience skydiving, but I have 48 jumps and I was opening my parachute at 4500 feet. And that only allowed a few minutes to locate your landing site and align. Beginners open at 5500. I opened at 3800 on accident once and I was uncomfortable. 2000 feet is way to low unless you are experienced. Jumps at 3500 feet are called “hop and pops”. On this kind of jump you are trying to get yourself steady and open your chute in 3 seconds to 8 seconds max.

Why not just make the plan seat a parachute itself, that way you can detach it when needed 🙄

"Parachute" ? No ! "Fall suit" ? Yes ! **** -- Special "pressure" & temperature" suits, are availale. (quick access) (even comes with O2 reserves) -- When reach "safe parachute zone": suit can be discarded; and parachute can be employed. *********** btw: Safe "return modules" are available. Can even enable to "catch" any "survivors" !

Its about money. Parachutes are expensive. Some percentage of people do know how to use parachutes, so you would be saving some. Even if you simply put it on and pulling the chute that slows your terminal velocity which greatly increases your odds of survival. Creating a chute that deploys at a certain altitude as your falling can't be that diddicult. Also crash survivors often get huge settlements.

Even if it saves one person, it's enough to go for it. And im pretty sure it would be more!!!

@@RoyalMela same with the life vests when u land on water, but they still warn you about this in the safety instructions presented by the flight attendants.

Its expensive! Thats why! You dont have to watch a 10 minute video for just one simple answer!

theres another idea they didnt mention - have an ejector system & parachute for each row of seats like they do on fighter aircraft - the parachute can be stored inside the seat in place of the seat stuffing material - that idea is much easier to implement than trying to save the whole fuselage in one piece - IIRC there was a women that survived a plane crash simply because the seat she was strapped into cushioned her fall into a jungle

As a skydiver I can assure you that's a terrible idea

Using parachute require certain skills. In most condition passenger are safer in airplane, pilot already trained for emergency landing.

The panic thing isn't an argument to make your case better. I mean, if people WOULD have a parachute, most people would be a lot more calm than when they know there's no way of surviving what's going on.

There are already concepts of a cabin that detaches from to plane with parachutes and air cushions, what are people waiting for?

This makes me feel so much better about my interest in being a ship captain Having a giant parachute for the plane makes sense

A parachute for slowing down after landing seems like a good idea. The space shuttle used one and lots of accidents are runway overruns.

@@RoyalMela meh not usually they’re usually a modular box. Russian planes like su25 have them and they can switch it out in a couple of minutes. Looking back on my comment though I’m not sure what I was thinking I don’t think most planes need them lol.

A First Class seat would be worth the fare, if it were an ejection seat.

If a plane is struck by lightning at 35,000ft and starts to go down. The time for you to be strapped and ready to jump, the plane will be around 25,000ft. Lack of oxygen symptomes take a moment to appear and it will only take 55s to get from 25,000ft to 15,000 ft. You can bear the temperature and low oxygen for that time. Worst case scenario, all parachutes are equipped with AAD, so even if you are passed out or untrained your parachute will deploy at a given altitude. It is an expensive solution but would save lives for the 10% of the time the crash actually happens at high altitude.

Chances of surving by just staying in the plane - 99% Chances of surving by parachute - 900000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% I'll go with the parachute‼️

The solution for large planes is to use drogue parachutes to slow the plane down and then to deploy several larger chutes to bring the plane down safely. The big issue is how to safely bring the planes horizontal speed down to nearly zero without killing everyone on board or without ripping the plane in half, and to be able to do so quickly so that the plane doesn’t just fall out of the air.

Pilots. The only people who can land a plane even if there is a problem with a plane.

All of these problems and humanity still wants to pursue flying cars. Humans are weird beings.

All things considered, but they also can use the ejection seat that the army planes have "just pull a lever and your in the air with your seat accompanied by a parachute soon enough opening automatically."

Not an ideal design for a large plane. Plus, there are many problems when it comes to ejecting. That's why ejecting the last thing you want to do

You then must also have a roof that allows people to be ejected. And those seats work by using explosives. Most people could not survive the ejection, or the sudden airflow at 800km/h speeds, or the lack of oxygen.

Detachable cabin is really great idea... When I got that, i felt proud myself, but when I cross check in youtube, bunch of models i found.
