    Great bike, well chosen. Mods galore, you've done well indeed. A huge improvement over the FZ07/MT07. The only other bike to compare by my tastes is the Honda CB650R, which due to the inline 4 is more to my liking, but not by much. Really, Yamah'a's engineering team have out-done themselves here. Perhaps a case saver for the gear-box/engine might be good as impacts there can trigger oil leaks and big expense. Glad also to see you put on a windscreen. Naked bikes may look cool, but they're shit for super high speed. In the coming years, if we are all still alive, the advent of better batteries will put all of this in the past as obsolete. Electric bikes lack the fire and scream that is so much a part of the primal aspect of the classic motorcycle machine, rather sterile in that way. Thanks then for the ideas. And good luck keeping safe! Good riding/safety gear can require many mods as well; I myself shortly will be purchasing a hard-core sewing machine. Mods mods mods, that's always the key. Another good way is to purchase a used 600 super sport, then shave down the seat by an inch or two (re-aphulstory being the key) and add a kit for raised bars and a new top triple clamp etc.. and one ends up with a similarly dope bike as well. Glad to see you doing things right! The art of bike and the zen define the way.

    thx Noel! Great inputs here I have actually never modded my riding gear, and I own a clothing company so we have all the machines here at our disposal. My partner and seamstress has been contemplating making moto jackets for a few years now cause she can never find jackets that she likes. I also agree on the CB, its a sick platform as well. Thx for the inspiration I might do that one next, cause I always need a new bike hobby.

    @@Lou-xd9ef I've got a 2000 Yamaha R6 with a shaved-down seat that lowers the seating position by about 1.5'" and backseat modified with a groove and hump in the front of it so as to better fit the butt of the passenger. The kit for the for handle-bar raises that up so that the rider is only slightly leaned forward. If you want to tweak the bars for better wrist ergos you can put the bars in a vice clamp, heat them at the bend point with a blow torch so as to bend them for a more perfect and precise fit. My R6 gives far better performance than even the latest naked bikes--more power, excellent suspension etc.. And it comes with full fairings so there's no need to add a windshield. The high end power is awesome and the low end nice and easy for street riding around town. The red-line starts at 12 k and goes to 16 k, so there's a huge primal scream of power that starts at 8K and goes on and on and on. Much to love about that. So I hope you have a chance to give that method a try. I LOVE that bike. Few do this mod, hence she's rather unique. And cheap.

    Re: gear issues. Most of the stuff marketed is 90% excellent and 10% crap. And the usual way of using them is trash. Failure points most common are at the waist where belts, suspenders and connectors between jackets and pants are must additions, as likewise simple elastic straps at the bottom of pants legs are required so as to keep those fuckers secured so that they do not rise up so as to slip out of the boots. Pads mounted in jacket arms and pants leg tend to wiggle around, hence fail in most crash scenarios, hence after market knee pads in particular (made by Leatt etc.) are a must. An under-layering of sweat wicking sweat pants and jackets help take up the slack in arms and legs and provide an improvement in crash protection by way of making for a better foundation for the pads--hence all such layers go under strap on pads rather than, per the standard fare, over them. Very troubled to see so many riders without any gear ("squids") and gear improperly arranged. Ruinous hospital bills due to ER visits are destroying the lives of riders suffering even minor crashes. Long-term recovery therapy for more profound injuries requires the use of a simple salt tub--high density solutions with Epsom salt (MgSO4) and the NaCl of the mother ocean--serve to defy most any poor prognosis issued from the mouth of a standard-issue, Medici-corporate quack, whose prevailing standard of care (snare) leads to needless long-term disability, loss of income, opiate addiction and worse, so that's an ever-ongoing tragedy that most all athletes now suffer, including those with head injuries who usually end up dying in prison at the hands of hyper violent gangs and associated gangster guards and cops. Beware then of the contrivances of the league of the shyster, quack and the pig as they are but cannibals in disguise (like it or not), and truly the greatest enemies of any who would care to ride a motorcycle in the present day, as well as in the past. such are my best words of advice to you, a younger fellow who deserves to be treated better. generation X, gives way to Gen Y, and now onto Gen Z, the nomenclature so used conveys a deeper point with respect to the bigger picture crisis of the so called End Times which are "nigh". See the work of "suspicious observers" at KZread, with focus on "The Adam and Eve Story" long suppressed by our infernal CIA, and likewise a few of the postings of Douglas Vogt at "the diehold foundation" (youtube) for the reasons why Jay-Z alludes to "The End", and "financial turmoil explained" for a geeky explanation of the coming financial crash, and The Book of Revelations as "predictive programming" per the ritual destruction of the USA per the metaphor of "The Fall of Babylon", and you'll be on your way. Safety first, in the present day, is a big agenda. Your love of craft and your integrity being a mark of high character and smarts, I wish you well and hope that my stuffy elder-advice helps you to score a winning play, for you, for other riders, your loved ones and all whom you deem worthy of the same. More power to you bro', as knowledge has ever been equated with power, those with an apperceptive eye that is open win always over those with "Eyes Wide Shut"--Kubrick's final film, for which he was made to die. Not sees are Nazis, such is the nomenclature of the predator in disguise. In your face, it's His old and standard joke, that of "The Master Architect' performing his "Great Work"--Freemasonic Frat boys who binge drink their way to the top are not to be trusted. Eyes wide open. "Denial is not just a river in Egypt", as goes the old joke, never more relevant.

    Wassup man! Our Ducati Scramblers have been really good to us. The one we still have is at over 15 000 km now and we done nothing but change the oil. Oh and bled the rear break a couple of times. Other than the mod galore, ill do a build review of that one soon. I think the Scrambler is great if you're shorter, if you're like 5'10" or taller you'll prefer the XSR. I know that a lot of people are upgrading the suspension on the XSR but after having bad experiences with Ohlin, i'm really not into it. I like the soft suspension of the XSR, great for dirt and the bad roads we have here. I wont track it so I dont want is stiff. Actually one of the thing that sold me was the first time I sat on it was happily surprised to finally find a bike that's not too stiff. I'm not a big guy so usually I get like zero suspension travel. cheers

    Love the bike. Question about the tires... Those TKC80s are only rated at 99mph and tested at max 150mph. You seem like you do most your riding in the street. Have you tested them out at speeds over 99mph? Would you trust them on the highway passing, cornering or hooning? I guess I am asking is there a speed limit you would not dare to push them beyond? I like the look but the speed rating of P has me hesitant. Most of my riding will be on the road 90/10 or 80/20. But I really like that scrambler look for a XSR-900. I would like to hear your thoughts... Thanks.

    Great concerns DeMario. I haven't had any problems with them but have never pushed them passed 180km/h. I find the surprisingly smooth on pavement, not as much glide but no vibrations at all unless at very low speeds. I really like the confidence that the TKC's give me when the roads are dusty or when there's gravel in corners.

    Daaaaaaamn !! TKC80 look badass as hell ! Perfect looking bike ! Just one question, what’s the size of the TKC you mounted ? You may have explain it on your vid but I’m French, and by the way I just understood some keywords but not in the details… and the size is part of the « details » I didn’t understand hahaha

    why go with off road tires? do they perform well on the streets?

  • @Lou-xd9ef

    @Lou-xd9ef

    4 жыл бұрын

    Good question I should have addressed that. The roads around here are not very clean and on top of that, we have a steep long dirt driveway to access pavement. So these tires feel a lot safer on dirt than slicks. The TKC's are touring tires so they are meant for long trips. They are a little bumpy a slow speed but otherwise smooth on the highway. And they looks SO BADASS.

    But but but the bike is so cheap to begin with! The way it sits, it roughly the same as buying a Ducati Scrambler price wise. I've owned 2 Ducati Scramblerss and ill tell you, if you're taller than 5'5" you will prefer the XSR. Its quicker and smoother too. Both bikes are great, both bikes have a lot of flaws and are great builds, but I prefer the XSR for performance and height.
