We often forget how much effort and meaning musicians put into their work. Hours upon hours worth of passion and ideas - all condensed into a track that only lasts a few minutes at most. Here, I'll briefly try to appreciate some of that genius by examining Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer & The Magnificent Six, and Michael Giacchino's themes for the various incarnations of Spider-Man.
All music and visuals used in this video are property of Disney and Sony Pictures.
For everyone asking why James Horner wasn't included:
I’m a HUGE James Horner fan, but doing two themes for The Amazing Spider-Man really disrupted the flow of the video so I had to pick one 🤷🏻‍♀️ If it’s any consolation I 100% will be covering other James Horner compositions on this channel.

How about the "be greater theme", as a bonus(?) Not really in cinematic universe but it still is a great theme, gives off the vibes / impression of someone growing stronger against their hardships.. or well as the theme literally says, being greater. From the ps game. Anyways as always very nice stuff.. writing this in hopes you would or read and also hopefully helps with KZread analytics

6:07 “Spider-Man!” “Hello pedestrians!” Fun fact: the TASM Suit in NWH was originally going to be a combination of TASM1 and 2’s suit. Basically, TASM 1 suit combined the big eyes from TASM2. It was scrapped as Andrew Garfield’s TASM 2 suit still fits well and saves time for the studio, I guess.

I respect your opinion and agree somewhat but just because he finally has the classic red and blues on don't make him classic Spidey. In my opinion he still has to earn that. We're right back where we were at the end of civil war. He wants to protect the neighborhood, hell the little guy, but with what they're doing to him and how much they keep changing directions in each film I wonder what is in store next. Will he want to be an avenger again or will he actually be Spiderman for once. Just because you have the suit don't make you spiderman. It's what stands behind it also. The whole may death thing was bullshit but I'm willing to accept it.

Danny Elffman's Peter Parker theme is honestly a masterpiece. I think he perfectly captured what makes spiderman different from every other super hero. It's that Spiderman isn't the hero. Peter Parker his. Simply standing up and doing the right thing because you have the responsibility to do so. No matter what it makes you sacrifice. It's what makes Peter Parker so altruistic. Elffman's Peter Parker theme is just so unbelievably heroic and tragic and ugh it's amazing.

For nearly a decade he wasn't and nowadays we take it for granted that he's in it, but every time I hear the opening to that theme it reminds me that he's "home". I hope whatever is directing the new spider-man movie, they keep Giacchino as composer. I really like this aspect of the theme getting changed to fit his development as Spiderman. But, if not, i would love to see Tyler Bates bcs of eloquency of Guardians theme, that feels at the same time gradiloquent and self-centered, as Guardians, but also incredibly epic. Guardians theme always feels, to me like "hey, we are the guardians bith* and we will save this Sh*". Like Spider-man always showing self-confidence behind the mask mocking villains, even if he were scared to death behind it.

The TASM2 theme is hands down my favorite Spider-Man theme of all time. It mixes so many elements of what makes the character so great. Everything about it just screams SPIDER-MAN. Both have "that part" (2:53 & 6:18) which really hit and symbolize the ideals which make Spider-Man; Justice, bravery, heroism, and taking a stand against wrong doings to bring a brighter tomorrow because just like the character, it could be anyone behind the mask. I think what made Giachinno's theme fade to the background somewhat was while Elfman made an Iconic standalone piece in an era where superhero movies were NOT the norm and Zimmer has the name brand recognition, Mcu spiderman is part of the MCU, and on some level its going to blend in with the other amazing scores written for the other MCU heroes because MCU spiderman isnt a lone hero. Even in his own movies he is part of a team, and he's just one hero among many, but despite that Spiderman is still gonna spiderman

@@Aichi1138 Yeah you make a good point. It's easy for the soundtrack to get overshadowed by the almost 30 other MCU movies and 10 series. But I still think that the Spider-Man MCU movies have the best and most stand out soundtracks in the MCU, particularly in No Way Home. The only music that is perhaps more iconic is the Avengers theme. But as a whole soundtrack, No Way Home takes the cake. I have never seen an MCU movie that uses its music to envoke such emotion and gravitas to the same extent as No Way Home. Most MCU movies just have the standard blockbuster soundtrack, it's not that it's bad, its just nothing I'd actually listen to (except when watching said movie obviously). But in No Way Home it truly feels like they used the music to aide the story telling and it has its own personality. To me, that extra level of thought put into the music can really sell the movie and almost ever song in the soundtrack fels like that. It feels like a love letter to the previous two iterations of Spider-Man that also perfected the use of music to elevate its story. Giachinno did an excellent job in my opinion in No Way Home and I think the soundtrack is on par to that of Elfman's and Zimmer's and it is under appreciated.

The MCU Spider-Man’s music by Michael Giacchino is pretty underrated. I love it a little more than the music for Insomniac’s Spider-Man because that video game went hard for the villains like Mr. Negative and Doc Ock, but it wasn’t too epic for Spider-Man himself. It was just emotional and chill, which is fine, but I kind of wanted to hear more of a distinctive epicness. What I especially love about the MCU Spider-Man music is how it evolves along with the character throughout the trilogy, and it peaks in No Way Home. When I think of MCU Spider-Man, I think of an epic story about an underdog pushing through his greatest challenges that end with consequences (Homecoming’s consequence was Peter’s crush, Liz Allen, moving away; Far From Home’s consequence was the post-credit scene, where Mysterio frames Spider-Man as the bad guy and reveals his identity to the world; No Way Home’s consequence was Peter literally losing everything), but he still moves forward with optimism.

The original Homecoming score encapsulates a youthful teenager who has a good heart but is still learning, and as his story continues, he gets more and more experienced, becoming like the other versions of Spider-Man. As he matures, his music matures and gets more epic. • @wavewingman5993

The similarities are very much intentional. One of the most underplayed aspects of Electro in TASM 2 is that he serves as a dark mirror of Spider-Man, accidentally given great power that he didn't ask for. But unlike Spider-Man, he chooses to use his powers to take revenge on the world, because he had no Uncle Ben, in fact, he didn't have anyone. Unfortunately, because Sony decided to chop away literally anything that constituted an actual good movie from TASM 2, this aspect of his character wasn't given enough time to show.

Spider-Man is the Name of Responsibility, it is full of burdens that one usually isn't ready for, and perhaps, that's why Spider-Man is such a beloved hero, because we feel the same, sometimes Responsibilty is Thrust upon us when we least expected it and we had/have to Tend to the Responsibilty. Spider-Man is the name of Humility, and that is something most if not everyone should strive to have, because when people have a gift, they sometimes tend to feel proud and perhaps maybe even flaunting about with the gift, but When a hero like Spider-Man and have such a gift and stay humble, then we all have a chance to be so Humble. Spider-Man is someone so many have looked up to, and he's just a Comic Book Character, but that doesn't stop them from looking up to him. In the darkest of times all you need is a fictional character to lift you up, because you know they will never let you down, after all that is their Power, a Power that you, the person who took time to read this, has. people would look to you for something, and no matter how small they decided to look to you, no one else, you, because they trust your power to be you, and Remember With Great Power There Must Also Come Great Responsibilty. Stay Humble, Stay True, Stay Kind and Stay for your loved ones.

Great video, I noticed that you didn't add Horner's theme for TAS and I would have agreed with you some months ago but now I just can't help feel that it was supposed to have some kind of evolution throughout the movies like Giacchino's themes which keep growing with each movie. Zimmer's theme tried to stick to Horner's a bit but it seems it's not his style so he gave it his own which was the right choice. So in the end, we ended up with 2 themes that if you're careful enough, can blend together with no difficulty

I didn’t add Horner’s since having 2 themes for TASM would mess with the flow of the video. But I agree with everything you said. Even though I like both of them, it’s unfortunate how much of a train wreck the Garfield movies are (in terms of planning a series.)

@@artloverivy while yes, planning them was a train wreck, the musical part of it wasn’t at all. James Horner was supposed to do the theme for TASM 2, but he legit watched the movie and was like “this sucks” and decided not to score it. In response, Sony picked up Hanz Zimmer who came in and made my personal favorite Spidey score lol. Anyways, for the score, it wasn’t a planning issue, and more of James Horner just not like TASM 2

@@SqwakStudio Horner was right about TASM 2 though. That movie is a mess. But I still think he should've stayed. Or alternatively, James Horner and Hans Zimmer score TASM 2 together (similar to Zimmer and Newton-Howard scoring The Dark Knight Trilogy together).

I love how you perfectly put each score into word so flawlessly 🥺😭😭❤️ I have grown to love each score for each Spider-Man in their own ways they’ve all given me chills at one point or another and man it’s amazing how something as simple as a musical score for a superhero movie can move me in such a way! It’s just one reason I’m literally obsessed with marvel the MCU everything marvel I love it so much and the music hold great power! It helps make me feel for the characters and I watched a video a few months back that combines all 3 scores and it worked so well and in the combined score I could feel all three Spider-Men and in-vision them all swinging around New York City to save the day 🥺😭❤️ anyway thank you for this it’s just what I needed today

Amazing video as always, your words perfectly encapsulate why i love the 3 spider-men's themes, Tobey's Tragedy, Responsibility, and Willingness to save people at any cost, Andrew's Intelligence, Heroism, Bravery, and Compassion, and Tom's youth, and Responsiblity. They're all wonderful themes, to accompany wonderful spider-men

This is a such a great video, without even mentioning the fact that each film in the OG trilogy incorporates the villain's motif halfway through the intro theme, just pure musical genius in my eyes.

i would love a video seeing the similarities and differences the three composers, Elfman, Zimmer and Giaccino did on Spider-man and Batman. I just find it really cool how the same three composers managed to compose for the two best superheroes. Love the vid btw keep it up
