    Loving the backlight demo from 3:11 and enthusiasm David 👍 You may know there is a review with movie footage out now and I agree the Bravia 9 is looking to be one of the best performing TVs of 2024 (depending on what matters to the consumer) - kind of a modern Z9D flagship. Also good point at 5:14 - I like my picture to look like reality and LED gets nearer to real world levels of brightness. Btw hoping the hype around the new Bravia single number range might mean there could be some X95L discounts on the horizon 😃

    Sony and Toyota are similar in that they are very conservative in their approach to new technologies. I've noticed most Japanese companies are like that. Focusing in the practicality, functionality, reliability and efficiency of its products above all else. Never going all out with all-new technologies, rather they tend to develop their own and release it after years of long testing once they are comfortable doing so.

    Folks when somebody claims a specific MiniLED TV beats a bunch of brands and even OLEDs without a proper assessment, they cannot be taken seriously. TVs are not like vacuum cleaners or other appliances this dude reviews, which are straightforward to identify if its good enough to beat another competitor or not. TVs require proper tools and equipment, and much more in-depth testing to know if it performs as advertised. Not just by attending one close door event where they play selected clips on these TVs to make their TV stand out from the competition, and concluding that it's some god-tier TV that beats everything. Shows that this youtuber doesn't have the critical eye to identify a screens pros and cons. I'm interested and a likely future owner of the Bravia 9, but this sort of video isn't really helpful, the worse I've seen yet with no effort put into it except for the bare minimum, repeating whatever the Sony spokesman said during the event. He did not even bother to spell the Mediatek Pentonic SoC right. It's Pentonic not Patonic. Be cautious when listening to his bold claims that it beats the OLEDs, it is likely to beat the OLEDs in brightness at certain window sizes, but it will still exhibit blooming and suffer when it comes to micro contrast as the dimming zones are still far larger than individual pixels. Is it going to be one of the top MiniLED TVs in 2024? Quite likely. Is it going to flat out crush OLED in every feature? Absolutely not. Do not get misled by overhyped lazy statements, you'll be happy with the Bravia 9 as long as you know what exactly you're getting and compromising. It's not a perfect TV that will beat all other TVs as this dude is suggesting.

    Agreed (coming from a possible b9 owner myself as I do not want to have to worry about burn in), I did not learn anything new about the B9 from this video. Everything he said here was already covered by DigitalTrends and HDTVTest in their closed-door event with Sony. And from his presentation, it shows the lack of interest and understanding on TVs. Hopefully people are smarter enough to hold out for actual reviews and better impressions that can be honest and critical enough, before jumping on the B9 expecting it to beat oleds in every way possible including micro contrast, that's outright a lie.

  • @camarozl1951

    @camarozl1951

    Exactly what I was thinking. I raised eyebrows multiple times and couldn't last the entire video. We need actual critical videos of the b9 not someone who simply says it's the best TV, "Trust me bro". That's what a salesman would do. People are going to buy it thinking it's the best and then be disappointed even if it performs like a great MiniLED TV should, all because this dude claims it beats OLEDs but in reality, there are still some areas where OLEDs still reign supreme. For my use case the b9 is going to be my top choice but use cases differs for each individual's usage and environment.

Now you see a lot of people jump on LG and Samsung bandwagon because they come out first with their new TVs and they price them pretty cheap but Sony priced their TVs according to how they perform if you want the best picture quality performance TV in the market Sony is always number one every single year. Hi Peter, thanks for your video. If you have the budget for the Bravia 9, I would definitely say you can tell the difference compared to the Sony A95L. Eventually the Bravia 9 will be $2K for a 65" TV (my guess by early - mid 2025). The good news is that the Sony A95L will get much more affordable by end of 2024. If you game a lot and have a room that isnt too bright inside, the Sony A95L is a great choice. But if you want a TV to put in a Bright living room or the best cinematic experience imho, the Bravia 9.

    When he said the sun was 10000Nits, kind of killed the speech for me. "The sun at noon is rated at 1.6 billion nits" Even morning sun, who stares at it . He has a point a 110" 10000 Nit tV would light up your lounge, making it impossible to watch in the "dark". Also cameras can mostly only do 14 stops of light , humans can see more stops "at the same time" still if a 10000 Nit TV had a 10" full specular highlight , you would not be able to see nearby dark areas properly . So 10000Nit TVs are kind of silly unless media is mastered well , and in right environment 0 nits to 4000Nits able to do a 10% window , with full color volume and BT2020 is really all you need for the next 10 years most likely . As few movies in next colour space , or mastered at 10000 Nits , just adds huge costs, for few people to watch it . Plus recording cameras not that good, so is is real or remapped to higher specs. To point at hand. let's wait real reviews , and discounted price next year . I sure it will be very good, blacks won't be perfect, but assume excellent anyway , too much gushing for me, for something not really tested yet

    AI doesn't match an image to the images in its database. That is not how computer vision works. That would be a pretty dumb and inefficient way to implement an "AI": that would not even be an AI at that point. How it works is that a model is trained on a huge dataset and it learns a pretty good approximation of how an image should look. Then when you give it a new image, it runs it through its neural network where it does a bunch of matrix multiplication and comes out with a result that the TV processor uses to adjust the image.

    Lmao, no LCD can beat any self emissive display like Oled or QD-Oled in PQ, will never be able to reach the black levels or infinite contrast of Oled, even with the improvements of backlighting being able to dim individual zones, it still uses a light to illuminate a zone of pixels, whereas Oled has its own light for every individual pixel…

Oled and QD-Oled has measured 1500 nits on a 10% window where most HDR highlights shine. I own both QD-Oled and QLed (Samsung QN900B), my A95L is still far superior…

    @@axelf7794 Wrong again, the viewing angles in the new models are acceptable, but still not good, I’ve seen them. Also, self emissive panels will always be superior to a backlight that uses local dimming to control blooming, which will ALWAYS be inherent to LCD displays regardless of the improved dimming zones, just a fact, put both in a Starfield test, and MiniLed fails every time compared Oled. Self emissive will always have overall superior PQ compared to any LCD, especially BT2020 coverage, black level depth, and contrast, period. The only redeeming quality of LCD is panel brightness, but with the G4 that’s a moot point, plenty bright. Don’t get me wrong, the new Bravia 9 looks awesome, but I’ll take QD-Oled all day, and everyday for movies, and use the B9 for gaming…😉

    @@axelf7794 There definitely is a problem, on every MiniLed I’ve owned, including the QN900B, it’s there, so stop pretending it’s not. You can’t compare a self emissive technology with a technology that has to use a backlight to brighten pixels, can’t produce true black levels, and it’s easily noticeable when the lights are off, bad viewing angles, blooming, inferior color gamut, worse screen uniformity… You can’t show any MiniLed that can beat the new QD-Oled’s in PQ period. None can reach the black levels or infinite contrast, if you find one, please post the link, because all the MiniLed sets I’ve owned can’t match the PQ of any new Oled…

    Sony yes if want be stuck with 4k res. Which been around some time already can give tv new name look so on don’t truly make it better there only so much can do with it. 8k other hand still new fresh like one from Samsung QN900D or Bravia 9 which only limits it self 4k tech. Which has max refresh rate of 120 hz then there Samsung which claims there 8k tv can go as high as 240 hz refresh for even smoother film sports and gaming experience than Sony is it true no clue choice is yours make.

LOL I am a completely independent channel but have been livestreaming DAILY for 5 years reviewing and unboxing all these products on Amazon. I bought my ALL of my Sony TVs as well as my Hisense, TCL, LG, Samsungs. 3. Your Price to Performance does not factor reliability and long term use. Everyone will have different criteria and sub $1000 today, I would recommend the X90L as the price will drop once the Bravia 7 comes out. I own the X90L and got mine for $1000. The Bravia 9 will be 30% cheaper by 2025, the Bravia 7 will be sub 2k by 2025 and will STILL have more accurate colors and better viewing angles.
