The shettles method is not something that has never been tested again since the 60's like you seem to think. In 2011 a Nigerian study of 99 couples used the method of sex before peak ovulation for females, and peak ovulation for males, found that 94% were successful at conceiving a male, and 88% were successful in conceiving a female. They called it the Billings Method, which means they determined the dates by testing their mucus. .. If it didn't work for you, that doesn't mean it doesn't work period. X and Y sperm do in fact have different behavior patterns that makes them predictable. I have noticed that most people who succeed at the shettles method did so serious consideration; ovulation kits, careful tracking etc. While those who failed were much more careless. So that's not surprising.

Carley L as I said in the video, I’m not saying there aren’t methods that can help sway, but I do believe Shettles alone isn’t going to be the deciding factor. That study sounds interesting. I googled and could find much info on it, do you have a link?

@@rebeckagraves4605 The problem is that there is any difference in sperm motility at all which served as the basis of this study. If there is a difference in motility then one would think that the probability of conception is no longer 50/50. Imbalances in either sex would lead to opposition by natural selection (e.g. fewer males lead to males and females that produce males to reproduce more, leading to return in equal ratio). Other suspicious things include: the study is published in a journal with low impact factor and low citations, an almost perfect normal distribution of the age when it would be expected to be more right tailed under normal circumstances, study instructed by founder of the technique, the technique having too large of an effect

For me the method is crazy so u want to tell me that our parent were waiting until ovulation to have sex its just common sense no couple who conceive natural without using ovulation kits will wait for ovulation day and that will not stop them from having boys

Everyone saying “it worked for me” how do you know if you were gonna end up with that sex anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️ no one can really say it worked for certain maybe you just got what you wanted that time.

I think boys are a lot easier to sway using the shettles method. With a girl, you really need to be regular to know if it is 4-5 days before your period. Your body doesn't always follow when you think your period will come.

Just bc this didn't work for you doesn't mean it doesn't work it's not 100% effective so theres always a chance it might not work it's not just about the timing but how long u try

Question: Everything I lookup says X(girl) sperm lasts longer then Y(boy) sperm. If this is the case, then sex, say 4 days before ovulation, as the theory says, would still increase your chances of having a girl due to less Y sperms?

If you are not an expert how come you are saying that what expert said is not true

I've heard from several IVF doctors that girl sperm are heavier than boy sperm. This is how sperm sorting procedures work.

now that make sense, in saying the heavier take longer to reach the egg. if you have sex on ovulation day, the fastest to get to egg will be the lighter once, not the heavies.

@@Nangiesx wrong... you also have to think in terms of environmental conditions. E.g. Does sperm carrying the Y chromosome prefer acidity or alkalinity? Should acidity be a factor that negatively affects Y-sperm in terms of motion then the X-sperm though "heavier" will be swifter under acidic conditions (*see vaginal pH*) hence why many of Shettle's suggestions for male conception included ways to thwart the X-sperm's blaringly obvious advantages.

im sorry you are wrong scientist are able to tell the differences and people sometimes do pay to have their desire sex. There are plenty of videos showing how male and female sperm are different. I didn't try shuttles but i will try it on my next pregnancy.

What the method does wrong is that it thinks all sperm cells are the same, also, even if so, you would have to only have sex once 4-5 days before ovulation date which can differ cycle to cycle...let's say you have intercourese 3 times before ovulation date, you want a boy and you try to have intercourse as much as possible to get a fast male cell to the egg, but still, it can be a female cell left near the egg due to an earlier intercourse which can fertilise the egg straight away, no matter how fast the male cells are...from any angle the theory is wrong...70% success rate is way too low, considering that majority of those are mostly random luck

Thank you so much for making this video. We have just had our 20w scan and found out we are expecting our second boy. After taking several months to get pregnant we decided not use use the shettles method, and I have been struggling to come to terms with maybe we could have had a girl if we stuck to it. This video has made me feel much better. I cant wait to meet our 2nd baby boy though xx

@@brittaneykilbury9959 the method is wrong from any angle, 70% success rate is not very reliable, a friend and a relative of mine tried it and both got the opposite from what they wanted, I got what I wanted randomly, pure luck, I won't get into scientifical explanations but you can just use Google and understand by yourself why the method is unreliable.

We tried the Shettles method to sway for a baby girl after having 2 boys. I conceived on month 1 but miscarried within a week, 2 more attempts and I was pregnant again which stuck. I’ve always had regular predictable cycles so I knew when I ovulated, it was made even easier using OPK’s and temperature tracking. We stuck to the method completely, until one random month my body decided to ovulate early which meant that we had sex right on the day of ovulation. Oops! If Shettles method was accurate then that oopsie would have meant i’d have a boy. 38 weeks and 1 day later and our sweet baby Girl was born 🙂

I was charting my cycles using my fertility friend. I was logging all symptoms like mucus, basal body temperature and ovulation tests. All these showed I ovulated a few days early on that cycle. All my previous cycles were incredibly predictable but this one just changed. Following what the sherries method states then I should have had a boy, and because I ovulated early I was convinced throughout the pregnancy that I was having a boy. Out popped our beautiful daughter. We would like another baby, hopefully a girl all she could have a sister (I know not a guarantee it will be a girl) Next time we will not be trying the shuttles method as now I don’t believe that it works

Thank you so much for this. I thought it was probably wrong because if it were true it would be more widely used. But I couldn’t find anything saying otherwise. My cycle is getting on track after being on birth control and I took an OPK test today and am randomly surging way earlier than expected and I’m over here wondering if I should skip this cycle because I missed the window for a girl. Sound like I should indeed still try to make the most of this random ovulation and accept that if I have another boy it’s going to be amazing.

So what method is more trusted?

I did not know what it is called. But I used it. Perhaps your friend and self did not know when you ovulate, and that is what matters. If you thought you would ovulate in 7 days from now, and had sex today but ovulate earlier for some reasons, that has been tempered with already. I have even used it while using the Rythm method of determining ovulation. However, it worked for me as my period was consistent. 28 days, and ovulate at 14 days. It has even happened that should you have a delay in ovulation and you expected a boy using this calculation, you will get a girl. Don't give up. Just know when you ovulate.

There’s y and x they don’t change. If y gets to the egg then it’s a boy and it won’t change to a girl.

I know this is old but I did Babydust and got my 4th boy.

I’m a mom of three boys who desperately wants a girl. I love my boys and wouldn’t change them for the world, but I also want a girl. As a woman who gets it, I can also recognize that you are coming from a place of bitterness. A better video would be one in which you encourage parents to not project their own desires upon an unborn child.

You will get your girl. If you are not charting your periods, start. Since you are trying, at least wait for regular periods times. I don't know about those that says they got girls on their ovulation day if they were chatting or not, I can't say it is not possible.

@@missydonald6381 many things are not guaranteed in this life. In my case it was. I have two boys and two girls. My boys were conceived during my ovulation days. And, intercourse one day after periods got me girls. We differ. But yaaahhh. Prayers in Jesus Christ name availeth much!

Laura Staines Well, I’m not an expert on either of those theories and I haven’t looked into them. I do believe that some men & women are predispositioned to have a higher chance of producing one sex over the other (like men with low sperm counts producing more girls, and women with PCOS / high testosterone producing more boys). I don’t think that people can only carry one sex x

Well Laura unless you are mis- carrying a particular gender and can tell that way then it is a load of bs. I can't tell you how many ladies told me I'd never have a daughter because "l probably wouldn't carry them and that is why l never concieved one", what a load of tosh and quite hurtful. I'm a mother of a 5 year old daughter now after 3 boys, so l don't believe anyone is predisposed to anything now. I think it is age, environment and timing.

We had our daughter at 36, also it has a lot to do with the environment in the mother favouring one over the other. Another factor l saw through the years is testosterone in men, metrosexuals with full heads of hair seemed to have girls, you'll notice that the more you look ... a lot. My brother craved a son, he can barely grow a beard and has a full head of hair, he has two daughters. The biggest factor is quality of sperm as it is produced and age of the couple. That definitely sways to girl as you age. Ultimately it's the men who call it. All we do is host.

For a boy you have sex the day of ovulation. You can use ovulation tests to check for your lutenizing hormone surge which will show in your urine 24 hours before you ovulate

Kudos for the Video! Sorry for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you thought about - Schallingora Gender Finding Scheme (do a search on google)? It is a good one of a kind guide for revealing how to choose the gender of your baby without the normal expense. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my buddy after many years got excellent success with it.

Thanks Chloe! I love your channel and I think realistically I am just going to get what I am intended to get. I have a little boy and if I have a girl great if not that is what I am meant to experience. I think like yourself I will always have emotions toward when having our second and final child if she isn’t a girl how to cope and process not ever being able to experience having a daughter and getting that in which I’ve always visioned for my life.
