Why the Russian FSB is encouraging Prigozhin's Wagner Group soldiers to detain their leader

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) urged Wagner fighters not to follow their leader Yevgeny Prigozhin's orders and also implored fighters to take measures to detain him, in a statement shared by the Russian state media TASS on Friday. CNN's Oren Liebermann and Ben Wedeman break down the major development, and CNN's Alex Marquardt discusses with CNN military analyst Ret. Col. Cedric Leighton and Russia expert Dmitri Alperovitch. #CNN #News

To be honest this made me realize I haven't given Prigozhin enough credit -- he recognized and seized upon a path that's placed him surfing on the leading edge of The Churn. It's a risky play but now he's gained some ability to steer events... which is an opportunity to avoid being dragged down into unpredictable chaos IF he can thread the eye of the needle. The only way out is through. Not saying credit extends to his moral character by the way - Wagner's still gleefully guilty of committing wartime atrocities under Prigozhin's leadership. However. From a political strategy perspective, I'm genuinely impressed by this maneuver.

Let’s understand, Prigozhin is a monster, but any nation that treats their soldiers and commanders, especially the ones actually making gains, even if they are mercenary contractors; any nation that would do this would be seen as entirely ungrateful and cowardly. It is at this point that I now advocate for Russia’s dissolution. This whole war is a huge national embarrassment, even if Moscow somehow walks away with a victory. The only politicians and leaders left with any power in Russia are all either cowards, criminals, or straight-up incompetent. No nation should suffer the indignity of having the worst people in your nation in charge of policy, and I live in America! But at least our leadership isn’t killing themselves as well as wasting the citizenry. The Soviet Union was a mistake, and now, Russia is too. And that makes me very sad and very angry that a nation would do that to itself, and in this time period of all times!

In WW II the commies sent draftees into combat with no training at all. Only every fifth man had a rifle and he didn't know how to use it. Wagner Group has 50,000 mercenaries and over the last couple of years, they've been equipped with tanks, armored personnel carriers, artillery, rocket launchers, helicopters and Mig-29 fighter jets. Adding to that, professional Wagner Group mercenaries (not just the prisoners who were pulled out off Russian prisons), many of whom are Russian (and to a lesser extent Belarusian and Serbian) military veterans are paid much more than the regular Russian Army soldiers. This reminds me of Ben a 1972 movie. A lonely boy adopte a pet rat that protects him against aggressors. The boy falls in love with a girl and wants her to move in with him but tries to get rid of Ben who figures this out and ends up attacking the boy with the girl and ends up occupying the house. The similarities are quite glaring. Guess who Prighozin is?

I beg to differ... I think Wagner is much more experienced and ready to fight than the Russian military or National Guard. I truly don't think Wagner will get wiped out quickly. Wagner has actually sold more willingness to fight than the Russian military and most of Russia's ready to fight military are on the defense lines in Ukraine. This might get really messy!!!

you're smarter than the pack...I think the same thing. Cesar, when he crossed the Rubicon on his march on Moscow, I mean Rome, and afterwards, had such dirty and tough and ill-fed troops that it scared the opposition. In one story Cesar's battle hardened troops tossed a piece of "food" to the enemy Roman camp that looked like garbage. When the well fed troops (I think it was Marc Antony's) saw this "food" they understood they didn't stand a chance against the tough Cesar Legionnaires. Go Priggy! Go Spartacus!

The only way Wagner would win a fight against Russian military is if Russian military defected and joined Wagner after realizing how crap shoigu is. But Russia still has a small Professional army inside Russia some other men in rotation in Ukraine war inside Russia and 100,000s of conscripts doing yearly military training. So on paper Russia would beat Wagner but in reality it’s more in who’s willing to obey there leaders

They also have filed papers for an arrest warrant for him to. The video showed that the bombing came from behind them. If Ukrainian forces are in front of them, why would the bombing come from behind them. But all and all, it's not a bad thing for them to be fighting amongst themselves. Maybe it's a good thing for the world and ukraine that they fight amongst themselves. For what I read and heard from Russia media they made the arrest warrants because he told the Russian people and people of the world the real reason why Putin started the war with ukraine.
