After the construction, the tower has actually begun self-correcting and is ever-so-slowly becoming more vertical. This will take hundreds of years to finish, though.

I actually learned this in physics a few months ago. I don't normally like the subject, but that definitely caught my eye and I remembered it. Honestly, goes to show that if the lessons have actually interesting examples and/or facts, students actually remember it better.

Fun fact from someone who visited Pisa a few years ago: The reason the tower is leaning is because the land in that area of Italy is very soft and sinks easily, so not only is the tower leaning, but every building around it is also leaning or slightly twisted. Theres a long an narrow one story building near the tower (sry I can't remember the name of it) that looks completely normal from most angles, but if you look long ways down the wall, the entire building is twisted a few degrees, similar to a skrew. Highly recommend visiting Pisa, it's beautiful

Short and more accurate answer: They keep adjusting and reinforcing the base so it doesn’t reach a dangerous angle.

It doesn't fall over because the straightened it up removed the ground underneath and built an adjustable plate underneath that can straighten and lean it as often as they want.

The tower isn't leaning anymore. It can be fixed now, but engineers kept it leaning because it's more interesting. It's fixed in that lean now, not leaning less nor leaning more

I still have 8mm film footage of me on top of the tower from 1977. I still don’t understand how they let us walk up there unsupervised. Incredibly dangerous. No rails until the upper floor. I remember my older brother going around one of the columns, a foot away from just dropping to his death. Then again, we didn’t have helmets for riding bikes, neither.

And sometime in the 18 th century they employed people to add extra support the structure of the tower

its funny how this tower is so famous, when in my hometown there is a building leaning at a larger angle

If you think about it if the world is just one big circle then in a way the leaning tower of Pisa is the only building standing straight up

Why so much fuss about the leaning tower of Pisa? A part of Caerphilly Castle (Wales, UK) was struck in a siege and has more of an incline than the tower of Pisa

This is innacurate, while the basic of what he said are right, the more elaborated parts are not. The center of mass CAN go outside of the base without the object falling over IF the object is fixated, wich was the case for the tower of pisa in 1990.
