    But there are situations outside of ones own control where there is no possibility of a water baptism.Like someone who has a true conversion immediately before death.The mercy of God is not necessarily withdrawn from someone in this circumstance.Now if there was someone who had the ability to be baptized but did not for whatever reason, but still claimed to follow Christ, this is different. Our Lord takes into account each person and the circumstances of their lives, because he just and merciful

    Through what means did the thief next to Jesus on the cross get into heaven? He had no water baptism, yet Christ promised him, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise." Christ cannot leave those who long for him with their hearts, that are within his enduring mercy. Those who were unable to be baptized by water for varying circumstances, (true conversion right before death, etc.), yet believed in Christ, are baptized with the Holy Spirit, the very breath of Christ. That is love.

    What Missale Romanum did Fr. De Pauw use? Is it the 1570, 1910, or 1962?

  • @federalexpression

    @federalexpression

    6 жыл бұрын

    He was ordained around 1942, so he would have been given the 1920 version. That's my guess not fact. The 1920 version was essentially the same as that of Trent. It included some changes to the status of Feast Days. So many feast days had been added to the calendar that ordinary vestments were becoming rare. The solution was to elevate the ordinary Sunday above the minor feasts. Saint Pope Pius X, rather than editing the Missale, added an addendum of instructions. Pope Benedict XV promulgated his changes.

There will be no changes to vernacular Missales as we once had for every country in their own language. The Modernists about whom Pope Pius X decried have had their way. They want no memory of the origins of the Church of Jesus Christ nor of His teachings in His Own words.

    1. Thank you for your replies. If a man sold you a loaf of bread, and you were later told that the bread was stolen from a bakery, would God condemn you? Would you be in a state of sin for eating stolen bread? If your facts are correct, then Jesus Christ will not punish millions of innocent Catholics for being sold stolen bread or something that is a substitute of bread. He will repair his church, he will heal it, not dissolve it.

    all the arguments for the latin mass could be turned around against itself. this is because the latin was the vernacular and the liturgy was in the greek. The very people that traditionalists look up to in the early church went about furious TRANSLATING the liturgy to Latin, Syriac, Armenian, Slavonic, Ge'ez, Coptic, and Georgian. The arguments that using vernacular is unspiritual or divisive are bogus since these people thought it to be important enough for the liturgy to be understandable that they put great effort into translations. Actually the real reason latin was used was because there really were no literary vernacular languages in the Middle Ages in Europe, but hundreds of dialects.

    The language isn't the issue. They had a 1965 missal with the traditional mass and many prayers translated into the vernacular. It would have worked fine. It was abandoned in favor of the Novus Ordo in 1969. The new mass isn't the "vernacular" mass. It's a Protestant mass. The prayers, aesthetics, and theology are entirely different from tradition and Catholic belief. The language is not the critical issue. It's that the traditional latin mass is a propitiatory sacrifice, while the new mass is a community meal.

    Wait so S. Pius went back to an older form of the Mass', kinda like the New Mass goes back to the early Church? This Priest means well, like many traditional Catholics, but they use circular reasoning, misquotes, rules that apply to the new Mass, but not the old. Every claim traditional Catholics make can be refunded with cross examination. I've just come out of a traditional Catholic chapel, and back into the new Mass. Traditional Catholicism is turning cultic, do yourselves a favour, cross examine these claims for yourselves.

    I guess in all that time you spent at a traditionalist Catholic, you never picked up a book on the history of the Liturgy. Perhaps you should look at Missarum Sollemnia by the modernist Fr. Josef Jungmann, or, if you’d rather something brief, Fr. John Bligh’s essay on Ordination to the Priesthood provides a good history on the development of the Roman Rite through the centuries. Yes, the promulgation of the Roman Missal by St. Pius V, whom we honor this day, was a restoration. Nothing in the New Order can be honestly cited as a restoration of apostolic tradition. You would be well-served reading Work of Human Hands by Fr. Cekada and The Liturgical Movement by Fr. Bonneterre
