I remember the hilarity of the first conflict the Imperium had with the Tau. At every turn the Tau were baffled by the technology not exactly because it was powerful but bet it was wildly impractical. Giant human shaped robots, ships with broadside canons, chainsaw swords “what society of lunatics did we just piss off?” Most of the time the Imperium won a critical fight because the Tau never imagined they would do or have something really stupid. Space ships with broadside canons threw them for a loop and ships got annihilated, a giant robot came on them that was like the size of a mountain and no one expected that, when the blades on a sword started spinning that were too stunned to fight back properly for a little bit

I have a working theory that if the Imperium tried to expand into an alternate universe where the warp doesn't work their equipment is going to suffer a slow and debilitating breakdown of equipment due to the loss of the power of belief and a lot of their backwards ideas of "maintenance."

What wouldn't function is anything that needs the wrap or are too advance for them to understand that may, or may not have been made by AI using the rules of their universe.

If.. well, ANYONE in the upper Mechanicus or Imperium at large could find a psyker powerful and stable enough to delve into Cawl's minds without going insane they would find out that he IS Emperor/Omnissiah sanctioned! The biggest heresy on his docket would be the soul merging he has done over the centuries. The memories of which contain the Emperor's thumbs up to Cawl. Cawl inferior is also an issue, and I have a running bet that it has either a Deceiver or Void Dragon shard in it in some capacity, possibly both.

For the people who say this couldn't happen in the real world, I point to the Saturn V rocket. The vehicle that carried mankind beyond our homeworld to the moon. NASA cannot build anymore of them because the main rocket engine for the thing was handcrafted by masters in their fields and all the men that built it have retired or died. To build a new Saturn V would require decades to relearn all the tricks and special touches they used. The Imperium doesn't have that kind of time.

I could probably build the equivalent of a calculator or a very basic computer (think 8-Bit, nothing fancy or modern) with logic gates and such. But where does one get all the IC's and datasheets to even know how to use the chips in our example :/. And forget about creating your own IC's at home xD. Although I've seen some videos where people did this. Old Man's point still stands xD.

18:10 19. hundreds? More like 12-13Century. And I can show it. Medieval monks believed: - That all knowledge comes from god and therefor things can only ever being relearned, not discovered - that is why they always searched and translated classical greek and roman manuscripts, because they believed that was the pinnacle of human knowledge (fun fact geocentrism stayed on so long because it had an ancient greek guy promoting it and those guys could never be wrong) - many of those monks also held the philosophical belief that all of creation is basically a giant, super complex clockwork like machine governed by god's laws of nature (concept called machina mundi) - Thomas Aquinas made the argument for the existence of god that something must have been the first mover that set everything in motion but is not moved itself, an automotive force... Does any or all of that sound somewhat familiar to 40k fans?

@@AbyssWatcher745 As far as I understand, the mechanicus are very interested in the technology of the Tau railguns and necron gauss rifles. Because both weapons are clearly more powerful and more compact than what they have for the same amount of firepower and because they actually understand the main principles behind those weapons. The mechanicus even have the prototypes copies of the railguns and gauss rifles but they don't have the materials science and engineering to make them work on the field as both prototypes can only work for a few shots before overheating due to the lack of superconductor which only the Tau have or rip themselves apart because they can't contain the powerful magnetic field like the necrons gauss weapons do.

The Mechanicus aren't actually as technologically stunted as you'd think. The problem is that, while there are quite a few progressives like Cawl, the Mechanicus at large is incredibly conservative, and the various sub-factions of the Mechanicus guard their knowledge like the Custodes would guard the Emperor's laundry. If the Mechanicus as a whole stopped with the politics and made a sincere move to pool all the knowledge each individual Forge World has, the Imperium would probably rival the Tau in technological innovation, even with the Mechanicus's insistence on superstitious hoo-ha.

Earliest error in the video, he mentions the Custodes and Mechanicus having Dark Age Tech, but he forgets to mention that there are others such as the Dark Angels. That said, the Dark Angels don't trust their Techmarines beyond managing their treasury of Arcane tech and the Rock. Makes me wonder if a lot of the Dark Age tech and their pre-Scouring Techmarine ideology were shuffled into another Successor chapter. And to go on a bit of a tangent. The Dark Angels do NOT allow Techmarines on their Inner Circle, because of their connections to the Mechanicus. How the flying fuck did the Primaris get accepted, let alone on the Inner Circle?!

@@darkinnovator2479 To be fair the Primaris being added to the Chapters makes very little sense alot of the time, but I wouldn't say the Dark Angels is one of those times. The Primaris don't need watching by Asmodai or Belial, or any other Interrogator for that matter. If I recall correctly the Primaris Squads are broken up and added to already existing Squads. What harm can 2 do in a Squad of 12 and in different fireteams? Plus, adding in the "loyalty checks" every Primaris had to endure to join the Dark Angels Legion (torture and mid checks) and even the Lion himself would be reasonably happy with their 'loyalty'. After all there's no Primaris in The Fallen. Besides the Dark Angels have less suspicions on the Ultramarines than the majority of other Chapters. If the Primaris were from the Raven Guard, for example, they would have been executed en-masse instantly.

I must admit I've never understood the hatred for the Ultramarines. Yes they are the Space Marine favourites and they have been written as a bit too powerful in a couple books but when the primary 'example' of them being Mary Sue's and that three Ultramarines conquered a planet is the first Space Marine game... Yeah, you've lost me. Plus I really like their Roman mentality of 'Humans are weak but adequate Auxiliary troops so *I* can be shot at less.'
