0:00 What James Bond Means To Me
0:39 The Development Of James Bond's Character
1:24 The Death Of James Bond
1:58 No Time To Die Plot Recap
3:02 No Time To Die Ending
Ok so my dad absolutely loves James Bond and because of that growing up I ended up loving him too. My childhood was pretty much surrounded by Star Wars, Batman, Spider-Man and a lot of comic book characters but being British, James Bond always held a special place in my heart.
Though he's often been imitated there's never been a spy quite like him and over the last sixty odd years he's been at the forefront of pop culture. Whether it's the cars, the gadgets, the girls or the actors that have portrayed him, there's just something about Bond that's eternally relevant.
Though times have changed and Bond along with them, he's always been somewhat at the centre of everything and every 007 movie has been a cinematic milestone. What's strange about this when you look back is that Bond has barely ever had a character arc. In every movie he pretty much ends up going on the same journey and it took over 50 years before we even really learned anything about his backstory or family life.
Whilst the actors that preceded him all came and went without really going on an arc, what Craig's Bond did is that it gave us a James Bond journey with a beginning, middle and end. Craig is the first actor ever who didn't leave because he was either recast or because of contractual issues. Craig actually got to close the chapter on his Bond and now because of him we know what a quote unquote final James Bond film looks like. Though the end credits of the movie makes it very clear that James Bond will return, we actually know what it's like to see James Bond die.
Now if you're watching this video then yeah Spoiler alert...but it's your fault for clicking a video about the ending of No Time To Die from a channel named Heavy Spoilers.
When I was growing up me and my dad used to always argue back and forth about if Bond would ever die and who would be the one to do it. James Bond has always seemed pretty indestructible and you might remember that Danny Boyle actually left the project because he said it would be ridiculous if they actually offed him.
So we knew for a while that this was likely going to be the movie that killed him but I think it's how they executed it that makes it the perfect way to send off the character.
In the movie we follow Bond as he tries to stop a deadly nanobot virus that has the capability to kill someone in seconds should they have the DNA it's targeting.

yes he would’ve infected Madeleine and Mathilde. A really dark ending would’ve been Safin doesn’t tell Bond he poisoned him, Bond makes it off the island, Bond sees his family on the beach, embraces them, and finds them dead after embracing them. “ It’s alright, it’s quite alright really, they’re having a rest.. we have all the time in the world”... cue Louis Armstrong music. And another 3 bond movies for Craig

I feel like the daughter theme was added by Daniel himself because apparently the producers really made this movie with everything HE WANTED. He might have dedicated his final Bond outing to his little girl because she was born right before they started shooting No time to die (which also delayed the movie). So this performance must have been real easy for Daniel. Also he brought his oldest daughter to the premiere and it was the FIRST time they were officially seen together. So imo, he dedicated this movie to his daughters.

Cancel the real James Bond...plug in a working stiff....Why not just create some new super hero??? If you want another example go read the original Jason Bourne novels... The list goes on and on. Tom Cruise playing a character who is a foot taller ... I have watched craig's Bonds many times...But, I sure never get the sense that he is James Bond. I do not blame him...I blame the writers and eon...I knew in Casino Royale that when he was playing poker that it was not going to cut it for me.. Toss in replicating an iconic Ursula Andres and even Haily Berry replication with craig coming out of the sea I knew 007 was finished. Having Blofeld behis foster brother was ridiculous ... Just glad it is over.. 3 men drinking heinekin in a Jamaica bar.....In all my years in Jamaica only girls drank heinies...and if you go back and watch Sean Connery he is surrounded by Red Stripe beer...toss in ordering whisky at a Jamaican bar...and M having some e150 dyed whisky in his office and I have had a belly full of this wannabe Bond.. I would rather watch Woody Allen play Jimmy Bond... I am not a Brit either... Never knew suspenders were some common man code of apparel ....

@@appledomer Honestly we have no idea what these nanobots is powered by at all or what it’s made of either. It seems like it is dormant until it touches someone else and it does its thing by killing the host when it reaches their target by recognising the DNA. However, Bond wouldn’t be able to survive at all either way because he is badly wounded and just not enough time to get out from there safely. Even if he did made it out of there, it is too risky for him to touch anyone. Very very risky because just one touch is enough to transfer the virus or nanobots. I’m not even sure if emp will even work on it. If it was that simple then Q would have said something like a blast of emp could destroy it. But Q never suggested this and we have to assume that emp doesn’t destroy it if it was that simple. If emp was the solution to destroy it then they would’ve done it sooner when Bond killed Bofeld and remove the virus completely from Bond very early in the movie but Q said it is permanent and stays forever on his skin. Which clearly suggests there’s no simple way to get it off or destroy it. Except bombs of course.

Couldn’t have thought of a more touching ending to Daniel Craig’s profoundly humane take on Bond and run as Bond. I’ve grown up with Craig in the role, so he is MY Bond, and Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace were the first two Bond movies I ever saw, and when “We have all the time in the world” at the end credits came on, that was just the icing on the cake. Walked out of the theater bawling more than I had any other movie I’d ever seen before. Besides, James Bond has never been the kind of guy who’s ever been able to just retire and settle down, anyway. And if Daniel Craig’s Bond is any hint of realistic, then it is the case of he who lives by the sword dies by the sword. Perhaps Bond’s fate IS best summed up by what M read from Jack London, “The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them, I shall use my time.”

Saddest movie ending I've seen in a long, long time. So heart-breaking that he has found the 2 people he would want to be with, yet can't be with them. The moment he mentioned how beautiful Matilde was, got me. And he had Dou Dou tied to his waste at the very end, gah I'm welling up again.

Fun film until the end. I was expecting Bond to go and live happily ever after with his family. When I realized it was end for this guy, I cried like a baby. Not just for Daniel Craig's Bond, but for the Bond character as a whole. And I saw his sacrifice different from you. I thought he saw himself as a danger to his family in a realistic sense, not the "If I can't have you, I don't want to live" sense. That doesn't match the character.

what most people don't seem to get is: Bond wouldn't only kill Madeleine and Mathilde if he ever got in contact with them. he would also pass the nanobots on to ANYONE he would touch, and they would pass them on to others, until sooner or later they would find his girls and kill them. so Bond knows that if he doesn't kill himself, he would almost certainly kill his girls.

We all want Bond to have a happy ending, but his life means he will never unless he dies. It’s perfect and it annoys me that some hate that he died. It’s set up the whole time.

He starts as the young bachelor spy, and actually matures into a man who now has something worth fighting for. I like to see character arcs. However, after seeing it multiple times in cinema now, it is indeed the perfect conclusion to the Daniel Craig-arch. And, although not every fan agrees, I can really appreciate the producers to make the choice to give Bond a family and focus on the emotional aspects. Daniel Craig's approach is therefore the best since Connery, because he showed a real man.

I went to the theater with my dad and sister to watch this movie, and the moment it was revealed that Bond had a daughter, I was immediately convinced that the movie were going to kill off Madeleine and Mathilde to pull at our heartstrings. Literally, all the way up till the second the missiles crashed on the island, I thought Madeleine and Mathilde would be the ones to die. When Bond died, I couldn’t even cry, I was just so shocked to my core that they had just killed off Craig-Bond. I was legitimately speechless for the next half hour, trying to understand the fact that Bond had just died. But I really enjoyed the ending, when I finally got over it. Bond finally finding something worth dying for - his love for Madeleine and Mathilde, was a beautiful and fitting ending for a man who had spend the past 50 years basically going form woman to woman.

You're right. It is the perfect end to 'this' Bond's arc. What made it so so good was that the character development in Bond was done so well. During the course of the film he realises that he has a family and having him stand there with the bunny tucked in his braces was the final gut punch. After the wet blanket that was both Spectre and Skyfall (yes I'm one those rare folks who hated that one) this left you no doubt that real consideration had gone into it's making.

He could still fail the mission and ultimately lose, without having to throw the character of bond away. Who wants to see another "John Snow," with Bond continuously coming back from the dead. I'd rather see the series end, rather than adapt it for what's considered modern rules. We watch bond for some no nonsense escapism, not to see him complete an arc and become a happy family man. Though this movie was entertaining, I fear for the future of the series with the precedent its set.

I believe it was a perfectly poignant ending to Daniel Craig’s Bond; he did an excellent job bringing the character to life and gave him some gravitas. It would’ve been idiotic if they let him live and found a McMuffin to kill the nanotech, it would’ve robbed him of his humanity since he changed from a hardened killer to a father; his morality changed once he found out he was a father and that was a strong drive for him to sacrifice his life if he couldn’t live with them by his side. Thanks for the excellent breakdown, but it could’ve used some puns, my friend.😬😬

Great vid Paul 👍🏻 have to agree. Left the cinema feeling satisfied with Craig’s story having development and a fitting, Bond ending.

Not gonna lie, this is the first take I’ve seen at that actually liked the ending. 😅

Just found the channel after watching the Spiderman trailer breakdown (great work btw) and now working my way through the playlist. In terms of Craig's Bond movies, I'd always considered Casino Royale to be his best (perhaps of all the Bond movies) closely followed by Skyfall. I watched NTTD a few days ago and have watched it on repeat since. I genuinely think this is the perfect ending to the Craig arc. While the ending itself feels nothing like any Bond movie before it, just as you stated in the video, it gives Bond the fitting ending he deserves, whilst still maintaining the fact he wasn't defeated by an enemy. In reality, it was the one thing that Bond doesn't really associate himself with, love, that ended up defeating him, and I think that is a great way for Bond to take his final bow. As for the next iteration of the character, it will be interesting to see how they reboot Bond, and what era of his (or her) life they explore. Either way, this version has upheld the legacy that all of us brits hold so fondly. Daniel Craig, I salute you!
