@Taskicore Except watching those scenes again, Batman in DK trilogy actually has pretty minimal collateral, and not much visible deaths in chases where Batman is involved. The only notable and visible death being the crashes helicopter in Dark Knight. Otherwise both the police and bats are smart and there's no civilian casualties. In comparison, Patt bat literally ramps through an exploding vehicle caused by him chasing Penguin down a busy highway, putting innocents at risk, and killing a whole Lotta people.

It's not even close to being a masterpiece. Time should tell the tale with this one. When the hype has died down, people will be able to see it clearly as a mess of a movie. Riddler was a hodgepodge of more well crafted villains from other movies, badly acted, with motivations that were all over the place. Scenes like the recording of Selina's Russian friend went on WAY too long, which brings up the issue of run time. Chinatown is just over two hours. A Batman movie doesn't need to be 3 hours, especially with scenes like the arena where he hangs off the jumbotron TWICE. Who approved the final cut? Then he and Catwoman drive off into the sunset, separately, in shots that went on so long I was expecting something more to happen other than them just parting ways. Why did we need to spend so much time watching this shit? Get a real editor in there, Jesus. Also, this was supposed to be Batman's detective coming out party, and aside from some gadgets and solving riddles he wasn't really much of a detective. What an absolute train wreck

Riddler doesn't know that Bruce is Batman because he could never imagine that the spoiled, rich Bruce Wayne would ever do something as selfless as go out at night to fight crime. The reason it's important that he monologues about Bruce Wayne in his scene with Batman is because The Batman is, at its core, about trauma. In this scene, Batman believes that Riddler knows *everything;* even his identity, and so to hear him tear down the trauma that Bruce believes validates his crusade is heart-breaking for him. Bruce feels invalidated; like his entire reason for being "vengeance" is invalid because of his status and wealth. Then, when Riddler reveals that he doesn't know who Batman really is, there's a shift - and you can see it, as Batman meets Riddler's eyes. Everything Riddler said to discredit Bruce Wayne in that scene is invalid because he doesn't know that Bruce Wayne = Batman -- he doesn't know how hard Batman tries to hide from his pain and use it to save others. To suggest that their confrontation in Arkham is a "waste of time" is ignorant of the film's message. If that's not an interesting climax to you, then you weren't paying attention. Furthermore, your summary that Falcone's storyline is the most interesting and intimate conflict in the movie is just plain wrong. The theme of childhood trauma permeates The Batman. Bruce, Selina, and Edward all exist of examples of how Gotham City failed its at-risk orphans: Bruce hides from his trauma behind an exterior armour (the Batman persona) and feels vulnerable without it (see his confrontation with Riddler in Arkham, when he believes that Riddler knows who he is - or his meeting with Falcone to discuss his parents). Selina uses her flirtatious persona (and many wigs) during working hours to hide from her trauma so she can make enough money to survive, despite doing so in the proverbial belly of the beast, since she's working so closely with Falcone. Lastly, the impact of Riddler's trauma on him should be obvious, so I don't even wanna go there. These three characters are connected via the film's very prevalent theme of childhood trauma, and it's not until the third act that their problems literally explode to flood the city - metaphorically drowning Gotham in the very suffering that it has created. Batman is the only one of the three who learns to live with his trauma ("our scars make us who we are"), while Catwoman and Riddler are obviously still bound by theirs; with Selina riding off to be a thief elsewhere and hide from the world, and Riddler locked up in Arkham and presumably planning his revenge. Vengeance is not the prime driving force behind Bruce becoming Batman. His trauma is. But vengeance is still important. It's how he expresses his relationship with his trauma; his absolutist stance against crime drives him to go out as Batman every night and fight the criminals who are surely suffering in the same way that he is. This is why he gives up on vengeance at the end to pursue hope instead; to use his experience working with his trauma to and his status as Batman to both *literally* save people from the flood that he, Kyle, and Nashton's traumas created - and also provide hope to the city that he once drowned in vengeance (i.e., Riddler was inspired by Batman's vengeance in the first place). Therefore to suggest that Batman was *given what he wanted* by Riddler is untrue. Yes, he would have achieved his vengeance, but his trauma would still have been unsettled. By killing off Falcone, the film is essentially screaming in your face that, "VENGEANCE IS NOT THE POINT!" before transitioning into the ending where Batman's character can truly be resolved. From your arguments, it seems you just wanted an action movie where nothing surprises you and there is a clear victor at the end, like The Dark Knight. The Dark Knight is an interesting examination of Batman and Joker's opposing ideologies, but I prefer The Batman because of how personal it is. TDK basically used Batman and Joker as pillars of different arguments, but Reeves' Batman is an intensely personal story that I enjoyed far more. --- Nolan fans when nobody directly states their intentions and perspectives into the camera be like: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d4GolbFpfparetI.html&ab_channel=B-HereNewsandReviews

That just makes the riddler look even dumber for having collected all this obvious evidence that Bruce Wayne is Batman, then still not even be able to put the pieces together. You said this reviewer just wanted the ending to have an obvious victor like in the dark knight. Okay then, let’s compare the two- At the end of the dark knight, Batman becomes an outlaw after he is framed for the murder of Harvey Dent, who the city still thinks is a hero, and Batman has to go into hiding. Batman and Gordon choose not to tell the city the truth because they know that even though the life of Harvey Dent is a lie, it is still a powerful message. And therefore, the city is better off not losing one of the last remaining symbols of hope that they have. At the end of the Batman, he is literally doing charity work and saving children in broad daylight where the message is clear- he has now become the hero and protector of the city. Not exactly sure what movies you watched.

  • @outpesticide

    @outpesticide

    8 ай бұрын

@@niklashegg If you think the Riddler looks dumb by not figuring out that Bruce Wayne is Batman, then you must not have been paying attention. The Riddler thinks that Batman is on his side, and he can't possibly imagine someone as rich and powerful as Bruce Wayne ever being as selfless as Batman. That's why he reacts so strongly when Batman calls him a psychopath in Arkham: He genuinely believed that Batman agreed with him, so he never ever would entertain the idea that Bruce and Batman are one in the same. I don't think it makes him look stupid, I think it makes him look short-sighted. The evidence on his wall isn't evidence linking Bruce Wayne and Batman anyway. That's all a red herring to build tension in the Arkham scene before Riddler reveals that he really has no idea. Your comparison of the ending of The Dark Knight and The Batman is also pretty weird. Like, you didn't even compare them, you just described the endings. Yes, Batman becomes the hero at the end of The Batman by finally becoming symbol of hope that he always should have been (good thing), but the city is totally flooded and countless people are dead. The ending of the Batman clearly speaks the message "the bad guy won and Batman let it happen by being so consumed by his own vengeance, but the circumstances have forced Batman to become the hero that you expect of him. He has abandoned his vengeance." If you seriously watched the ending of The Batman and thought "ah yes, Batman won," then you need to re-watch it. As for the Dark Knight, Joker wins in that movie. He corrupts Gotham's only symbol of hope and forces Batman to kill him to save Gordon's family; hence Batman becomes an outlaw, as Gordon protects Harvey's legacy. Does Batman do the right thing in this situation? Yes! But he's been gunning to have Harvey save the city throughout the whole movie, and at the end, he's forced to do so by giving up his own legacy. Joker wins by forcing Batman and Gordon into this lie to protect Dent: A lie that is exploited by Bane in the sequel. The difference between these two endings is, to me, night and day. In one, Riddler "wins," but in doing so, he forced Batman to step into the light. He creates the very hero that Gotham ACTUALLY needs. So although his plan succeeded (aside from the assassination of Reale) and he managed to out fox Batman at every turn, the ending is still a hopeful one thanks to Batman's development. Meanwhile, the ending of the Dark Knight is much more straightforward. Just like the Riddler in The Batman, Joker wins by turning Harvey into Two-Face; corrupting Gotham's white knight and proving essentially that the city has no hope. Batman and Gordon lie about Harvey's crimes to protect his image and protect the city's hope, but even though Gordon gives an inspiring speech about Batman, they lose at the end. They have to lie to protect a man who tried to kill Gordon's family, and only in the sequel does Batman rise to fill Harvey's shoes. I just think that The Batman has a much more nuanced ending than The Dark Knight. I don't mean to say this to bash The Dark Knight at all, by the way! But the two movies have very different requirements for endings. The Batman puts a lot of focus in the character of Batman himself, so the ending is a personal one that's meant to make the spectator feel more conflicted: Riddler wins physically, but our hero has triumphed emotionally. Meanwhile, TDK is the second movie in a trilogy. It essentially serves the same purpose to its series that The Empire Strikes Back does in bringing the cast to their darkest point so that the final film in the trilogy can have them rise again. To argue that TDK's ending is more nuanced than The Batman's just doesn't sound right to me. But the best Batman movie is Batman 1966 anyway so it really doesn't matter

@@outpesticide You just described more ways the movie makes riddler look stupid. You’re telling me he successfully put this plan together and even had a conspiracy board of Batman and Bruce Wayne, but couldn’t look at two photos and be like “oh yeah that’s the same guy”. Especially in the way that Batman constantly just shows his face in public and Bruce Wayne doesn’t even have a different personality. It all seemed like a cheap way to make the audience think the riddler obviously knows Bruce Wayne is Batman, only to make him look dumb when he doesn’t. This is also beside the point, but that scene where the riddler throws a temper tantrum is one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. But yes, thats how comparisons work. And you should rewatch the dark knight. Jokers plan essentially fails in the end. Neither of the ferry’s blow up and Batman is able to prove to the joker that the way he thinks the world is, is wrong. That even though he is able to corrupt someone like Harvey dent, that doesn’t mean everyone is the same. You also explained how it is nuanced because they hold off the truth about Harvey Dent for what? A decade? When was joker’s plan ever to make the Batman lie? The whole point was for the joker to try to bring society down to his level which doesn’t happen and is prevented further when the truth about Harvey dent is kept from the people. So we’re led to believe the joker failed until bane eventually reveals the secret. But you’re the one who commented about the two endings in the first place. I’d still rather watch Batman begins over the Batman any day.

when I went home after the theater, I thought it was very good. But then I even remember that in the second half of the movie, for the very first time, I pulled out my phone to look at the time, while I was watching The Movie in theaters. I've never looked at my phone to know what time it is, while I'm watching a movie in theaters in my entire life! Like Avengers Endgame feels shorter than The Batman. But Avengers is longer than the Batman.🧐 And when I hear reviews about it, they say the same thing that I did And I was thinking like, why would I do that? Do I like this movie?🤔 Or am I lying to myself to like this movie? So I watched it a second time When they released the movie on streaming, and..... Wow, The story doesn't make much sense. I was so distracted by the visuals and the atmosphere of the movie that I completely forgot what the story even was at the end. All I could remember was the music, the visuals, and the beginning of the movie, and that's it. It annoyed the crap out of me now that everyone is praising it on KZread. And they even are threatening to watch this movie, saying: if you didn't like it Then you're a pu**y or something like that. And I was looking up to if anyone else was thinking the same thing as I do. And that's how I found this video.

To me a good chunk of these complaints (and the typical complaints on this movie in general) border on nitpicking. I agree maybe the bat armor shouldn't be too perfect and impenetrable, but we do see that Bats doesn't just breeze through every battle, he takes a few hits, he's rough around the edges and brass in his fighting. If the armor wasn't as effective as it was people would bitch about that too and say "wow he doesn't even have decent armor!" or some shit.

The second the Director confirms that the movie is going to be grounded people act like it needs to be the most realistic movie in DC history. Yeah not like a billionaire has a toolbelt with a grappling hook that shoots 100 feet out of a pistol, and contact lenses that have mini cameras in them with a live feed feature, and a syringe that injects him with enough adrenaline that literally let’s him get up and fight again from being blown away by a D2 with heavy ass armor on. It’s a Batman movie it can ever get that realistic when it comes to Gadgets. Edited in later. Why don’t they just shoot him in the mouth? it’s not like a giant 6 Foot humanoid bat is walking toward you in a dark hallway with the only source of light being the muzzle flash of your gun.

You're complaints about realism when it comes to certain filmmaking decisions like not having Batman somehow protect himself so the bomb exploding in his face wouldn't be perceived as fatal, or when he freefalls from the building only to smash into an overpass onto a bus and into the pavement, are not really wellfounded enough to state the film fails or is "barely good" because you were only impressed with "most of the first half" of it. The problem with your objection is that it isn't as devastating as you portray it to be, and you perhaps should know better. All you have are some valid observations as to where the film could've done better (or doesn't do well enough, granted). I say this especially given the fact that you've clearly based your entire set of criteria on realism. Forgive me for laughing but, are you not aware of the basic premise of Batman, the character? At any rate, thanks for your video, I did enjoy watching it.

So, reasons why from the first 20 to 25 minutes I could tell the movie is complete trash: 1- Batman doesn't have loud steps, unless he's wearing a mechanical armored suit even then his steps are still not loud 2- Batman NEVER said "Yeah!" before 3- Batman doesn't knock on the front door and asks for permission to go in and he definitely doesn't use STAIRS he also knows every martial art there is, and he never gets hit especially if he is fighting untrained people who are not that much 4- His voice sucks, sounded more like Robin, not Batman. 5- Batman does NOT write down notes. LIKE WTF There is more, but these just did stand out. I think that this is the worst Batman ever. Other actors are not fit for the roles as well. Alfred was the bad guy from Avengers Age of Ultron with a stylish haircut, and Commissioner Gordon was a middle-aged African-American guy. I'm not against him being like that, but we are used to Gordon being old, blond, and with a big mustache, they at least got the mustache one right. Bruce Wayne (Batman) was the edgiest mf on the planet and is definitely nothing like Batman without the suit.

In the Telltale videogame for example Batman often protects his face with an arm and tries to dodge the bullets when someone is shooting at him, ducking and charging them to prevent his suit to take too many shots and also to make it more difficult for his enemy to aim at him accurately while this Batman just tanks every shots he receives and doesn't even try to dodge them or protect his face, apparently this Batman suit is made out of Superman skin or something and Gotham thugs are unable to aim him in the jaw even by mistake so he doesn't have to worry about gunshots at all... There are also several other disappointing things I could say about this Batman from him not having almost none of his gadgets to his cape not allowing him to glide so he has to turn his suit in a weird sky diving squirrel suit but I could look past all those things if the movie was actually good. I did look past the fact that the fight scenes were quite underwhelming and you couldn't understand what was going on most of the time in the Dark Knight Trilogy cause that Batman, that story was actually GOOD. But with this The Batman... Lol I tried to like it except near the end of the movie I realized that Batman did nothing in this movie literally he accomplished nothing. He wasn't able to save Riddler's targets from getting killed... He did exactly what he wanted unable to figure out Riddler's plan. He didn't catch the Riddler who gave himself up after getting what he wanted and then this Batman just happens to find out about his plan when it's already too late which causes the city to get flooded. The only things he was able to accomplish are saving Catwoman from Falcone and the people in the stadium in the end. For the rest this Batman failed at everything he did and was irrelevant in his own movie... It's hilarious when he gets angry to the Riddler and he just laughs in his face cause he had every reason to laugh. Basically he won. Pattinson Batman failed. Disappointing.

I don't necessarily thinks its a horrible take on the batman but I do have a lot of questions regarding it. I typically don't like to nit pick but your told that this film is a more grounded and detective story then to me the DETAILS matter. How does a "Year 2 batman that is still learning to be batman" take 100s of military grade ammunition at point blank range without any injury or damage?? At times it feels like Matt Reeves made him superman when he wanted him to be. For instance how does this Batman take an C-4 explosion inches from his face that blows him back like 30 feet but doesn't leave any mangled jaw or burn marks, then just hours later has the ability to fight 3 cops out run 50 then base jump from the top of GPD crashes into a bridge going at least 20-30 mph.? What part of that sounds grounded??? Also why does he fight the street gang in the 1st scene that's picking on one Asian guy but have total disregard for the at least 10-15 civilian motorists that were annihilated in collisions and explosions in the car chase scene that apparently nobody had to answer for because even after the batman realized he made a mistake and had the wrong guy he let the penguin go. For a detective movie it seems the details only matter if they want it to matter. But everything else were supposed to just ignore? Like when Batman swung over to the live current wire which is dangling about 100 feet above the half drowned citizens below Batman's plan was to cut the wire to save the people from being electrocuted but common sense to us that you have to CUT THE POWER OFF in order for live electric current to stop?? Also I'm pretty sure the reason the wire is even dangling there damaged is because Batman blew the ceiling for no apparent reason other than to make a non stealth entrance which in turn made all the damaged metal beams and giant shards of glass fall onto the wires and all the people below he's trying to save?? if its a detective story I expect details to be superior and if its grounded make sure its GROUNDED CONSISTENTLY. Not when its convenient for your superhero movie.. Come on MATT REEVES I expected much better writing from you??

good point bringing up how Riddler led Batman to help him, ultimately leading to Batman finding out that Falcone was (likely) the killer of his parents (if indirectly leading him to that conclusion). There were a lot of plot points in this movie but none of them felt honed in on (hence why some of my explanations are in parenthesis). I love the movie for its obscure set pieces, great character development, and realism, even if some of the things you mentioned are very unrealistic, but it's a movie (Dark Knight also had a lot of "yeah right" moments). It would have been cool to see the idea of Riddler leading Batman to Falcone as a major focus of the movie. The idea of Riddler finding out that Bruce Wayne is Batman, and leading Batman to Falcone, then toying with Batman's mind about his confliction would have been a very deep and grounded concept to explore. Instead, the movie stuck with a less risky approach and portrayed the villain as another guy pissed off about Gotham City who tries to destroy it (A great concept that fit well with the Dark Knight trilogy). I want to see more stories with the villains trying to hit Batman where it hurts the most, that explore the cannon more psychologically. That's one of the biggest appeals of Batman and his rogues gallery. But... this was the intro to Matt Reeve's Batman. They had to build to story somewhere. Maybe it will go deeper. It would nice to see villains returning for sequels (non cameo) and making things personal, something that hasn't really been done in a Batman movie.

From the first crime scene Batman noticed details the police didn't, and solved a riddle, than he figured out he had to find the victim's car, Alfred helped but Bruce was the one to truly solve it, figured out which car it was instantly and knew to look for a usb hole, and there's the "thumb drive" joke. He solved many riddles in the church scene, and tried to save the guy til the very last second, no running away(very in character, and he covered his face from the explosion last second). He figured out that that the Rata Alada thing was spelled wrong because it led to a site( "You Are El Rata Alada", URL Rata Alada), which is very smart, solved another riddle. I don't know which of these main things were worse: 1. Spending way too much time, the the alleged first movie of a trilogy, on "the bat and the cat" with zero chemistry, her ranting is like the writing for robin in "batman and robin" or "batwoman." Not sorry to say Zoe Kravitz was passed on Dark Knight Rises because her acting is sub-par. Without the falcone connection, the movie couldn't even justify her presence. 2. "Battinson." Not "everything," and I don't care that Robert got his career started in the sparking vampire series, he is a better actor than that. He is not however, good as Batman. The noir-style narration sucks, and he is sub-par at just about everything-batman, bruce wayne, etc. It's not the lines, or the style, it's literally "not cut out for the role, everyone was right before it came out." Nothing in perfect and I had no issues really I mean stuff could be better, it's no "batman begins," "dark knight" or "batman 1989" but it's better than the CW-show type character assasinations. Also we got this over Batman vs. Deathstroke, over a movie actually talking and/or showing the death of a Robin, etc. Soy instead of the real stuff.

Thursday, October 31st. The city streets are crowded for the holiday. Even with the rain. Hidden in the chaos is the element, waiting to strike like snakes. And I'm there too. Watching. 2 years of nights have turned me into a nocturnal animal. I must choose my targets carefully. It's a big city. I can't be everywhere. But they don't know where I am. We have a signal now, for when I'm needed. When that light hits the sky, it's not just a call- it's a warning. To them. Fear is a tool. They think I'm hiding in the shadows. But I AM the shadows. I wish I could say I'm making a difference, but I don't know. Murder, robberies, assault- 2 years later, they're all up. And now this. This city's eating itself. Maybe it can't be saved, but i have to try. PUSH MYSELF. These nights all roll together in a rush, Behind the mask. Sometimes in the morning i have to force myself to remember everything that happened.

I don't understand how people can have a high opinion about this Batman movie. The riddler in this movie was acting (and looked) more like a spoiled exagerating tantrum throwing manchild, as if he has never been told no in his life before and couldn't fathom real life outside his former pamperd lifestyle. I couldn't even take the villain origin story seriously, because it came over like a melodramatic overacting of a toddler. The Riddler was just utterly cringe and didn't seem to represent as much of a unpredictable, criminally insane person, who fell from sanity and reason into giving in to madness and depravity, due to "one bad day". It's as if Paul Dano went into a psychiatric instution, treating it like a candy shop and chose which messed up disturbing behavior to impersonate, without giving a care about the cause and diagnosis behind it. God! And the Joker from the deleted scene. I mean, seriously! This guy looks like a crack addicted horror Clown cosplayer. And why the hell where the movie Producers and Directors so moronic not to seize the opportunity to cast "Willem Dafoe" for this role! I can kinda deal with Pattinson being the next batman, (I have nothing against Nirvana though) but seriously what's with all that Emo-BS and that stupid stomping entrance. I thought Batman was all about stealth and using the element of surprize, with that he brought fear into the hearts of criminals and villains. And that gloomy demaenor as if he never learned to overcome his grieve, to a certain extent, and also never underwent to steel his mind, during his youth and growth. And the Batmobil was somehow too rustic and simple and would have fitted better in a racing movie with a scrapyard-underdog-protagonist in it. It's as if the entire movie was nothing but a daydream of a 90s teenager lying in bed, in his dusk iluminated room, taking a rest from reading Batman comics and listening to grunge music.

I literally walked out of the theatre after Alfred got blown up. I knew something was wrong when I felt absolutely NOTHING at that moment. Matt Reeves just assumed we would all be invested because of who these characters are supposed to be. If you're gonna reboot any Character, you have to take the time to get the audience emotionally invested in this iteration. I almost fell asleep during the first act. Nothing about this film felt like Batman except The Penguin & Gotham's atmosphere. Riddler felt like a cheap knock off of The Joker..from his over-the-top energy to the violent manner that he killed people and left "messages" for Batman. It all rang Joker to me. Not the Riddler. For a character called "The Riddler", he was severely lacking in Riddles. Hell, Jim Carrey had far more clever Riddles. And don't even get me started on that ridiculous "Gimp" suit🤦Paul Dano is a fine actor...but I feel like everyone is trying to recreate Heath Ledger's portrayal, even if they're not playing the same character. Furthermore, why is his name Edward Nashton? His last name should always be Nigma...because he is an Enigma. It's a clever spin on his identity. Apart from all that, the Acting is dull & emotionless. The script was boring & PC as fuck. You know it's gonna be bad when the director's entire basis & underlying message for the film is "white privilege". Bruce knows he is wealthy and has never taken it for granted. We don't need an entire movie about him coming to this realization. It's blasphemous, to say the least. Zoe Kravitz was solid casting, so it was a massive disappointment that she was given a shitty script and a dumb reimagined origin that connected her to Falcone🙄 This movie is overhyped garbage & I would willingly watch "Batman Forever" over this ANY DAY.

For example riddlers motivation wasnt to save the innocent, he wanted revenge because he felt mad at the world because of the corruption that had made his life miserable growing up. Thats why he "knew" who batman is. He thought they were the same. He doesnt actually know who batman is and he doesnt really care. He said it himself when he was talking about how he wanted batman to see him in his mask and how he knew that the mask was who batman really was. Also the explosion part, well i did find it ridiculous that batman didnt really react even though he knew when the bomb was going to explode, he was still wearing armor and alfred wasnt

The mayor's son taking his hand first is a step towards healing his trauma. The woman on the helicopter stretcher grasping Batman's arm is the complete opposite to the Asian subway victim's response. From people being scared of the shadows, to leading them out of them. Huge arc. *The point of the Riddler getting caught was because (and he says explicitly) to be safe in Arkham while the city's sins get washed away. You think he's going to be canoeing around getting his groceries in a city with a destroyed infrastructure after his crimes when he can network, and get 3 square meals in Arkham? That's planning. *Final Showdown was in Arkham, a psychological one, and a physical one against Riddler's goons. *The point of the plan was to take out the corruption at the top level, and force an actual renewal of the city, to level it so that it could be rebuilt. A success since that's pretty much what happened. *Riddler showed he wasn't afraid of collateral damage when he made the car plough through the memorial service. *The runtime was necessary to tell the nuanced story, with noir pacing. *All of those characters were integral to the story, with perhaps the exception of Joker, but for like 2 mins, not a big deal. *Riddler doesn't know Bruce is Batman. The expertly crafted tension leads Batman, and the audience to think he does, but it's revealed (if one pays attention) that he doesn't. He even says to Batman during the Arkham scene, that Bruce Wayne is the only one they didn't get. Why on earth would the Riddler want to kill Bruce but think he's teaming up with Batman to rid the city of the Wayne's (and other corruption) if he "knows" he's the same person?! *Batman doesn't detain Oz after the car chase because the police are still infested with corrupt cops, meaning he gets released instantly, and Batman can't risk another confrontation with the police. Literally all these "issues" become moments of enjoyment when a film doesn't underestimate the audience's intelligence, and rewards patience, and attention. It's a modern classic. Add one or two scenes with Alfred and Bruce connecting and let him be Bruce for another two little scenes so Pattinson can shine and we see there relationship while gaining depth for our main characters. Get rid of 90 percent of all cat women stuff we didn’t need including her being Felcon’s daughter(give her a suit and make her burglar more). Re cast the riddler and have Batman do real detective work that leads to him capturing the riddler. There’s no need for the joker to be introduced. That’s a 2 hour and 15 minute real one off Batman.

To address the bomb thing. If you paid attention, you see his arms covering his face. I think the whole suit thing is a valid, yet still a minor complaint. I think it definitely proves to be an inconsistency in the storytelling with how durable this is and how much punishment Batman can take. At most, you could interpret it as the type of guns he's shot with. Bruce does get bruises, the movie shows this. He's lean, pale, and covered in scars and bruises. There's a certain level of suspension of disbelief that you need to be willing to take for any movie to work. Otherwise, it would be retarded to diss this movie and not absolutely shit all over the Nolan trilogy. That movie has some of the most absurdly goofy scenes I've ever seen. The courtroom scene isn't realistic, as are several other sequences. Yet people still adore this trilogy because realism, while it's certainly important if a movie is going for it, isn't the most important aspect. The Nolan trilogy is realistic in that it uses real human emotions and explores that, and Reeves' film does the same thing. It's absurd to say that a movie isn't good off the basis of what are essentially a bunch of nitpicks. As for the whole Riddler not knowing who Batman was, that isn't even a flaw, and I don't think you paid attention very well. It's already confirmed that he doesn't know his identity when he literally has Batman go on a chase to find out that the victim is himself and already sent a bomb to Bruce Wayne. Why would he have Batman go away from the place he's trying to bomb Bruce Wayne at if he already knows they're the same person? The movie made a red herring. That isn't a bad thing. Could it have been removed for the scene to still work? Sure, but again none of these things even remotely count as major flaws in the story. A lot of these seem like complaints rather than actual criticisms. Why complain about the way Riddler kills Falcone. It was very clearly an elaborate scheme to kill him. What did it matter the weapon he used to kill him. He killed the mayor with a carpet tool. As for that finale, yeah I can't quite deny that, but you didn't really articulate the issues with it that well. The flooding is more of an escalation of conflict. Riddler is so twisted that he blames the literal institutions of Gotham, and for the city to survive, the old institutions need to be destroyed for new ones to grow, hence washing it away. I doubt he really cared about the citizens and he was clearly psychopathic, killing people in brutal ways. The Riddler goons also have a specific set of targets, the corrupt people. They don't really ever shoot at innocents, and we see this when one of them targets at Gordon and then moves away form him. While there certainly were inconsistencies and problems with the pacing of this movie, it doesn't even remotely add up to turning this movie to "barely good". A movie that's barely good would be like Tenet. Now, if you want a movie to blast the shit out of, there's your answer. The first two hours of The Batman are just masterful, and quite frankly the best content in any comic book movie. The cinematography and editing are brilliant, the story is multilayered and complex, every character is unique and has clearly laid out motivations, the themes of identity and social class are brilliantly interwoven in the subtext of the story, the acting is great from everyone, the story is perfectly paced, the dialogue is tonally in-line and honest, and the way in which the Riddler is written as this sort of god-like entity who's 10 steps ahead of everyone is incredibly intelligent. The problems come with that final hour. The story starts shedding the multilayered plotting and essentially feels like still a good movie, but far inferior to how it was originally. It even at one point spells out its themes up front. Even the action scenes that were so well crafted before with Batman being the aggressor (a fundamental aspect of this character) is now changed to Batman just being some reactionary force.

canonically, according to the comic books and cartoons, Batman does feel pain from bullets hitting his armor. He just works through the pain. As for the composition of his armor, it's composed of several materials that are either extremely complex and haven't actually been combined properly irl yet, or in certain cases different forms of "unobtanium" because it's a work of fiction, and the writers use impossible and improbable materials to remind us of that. As for the riddler...well, Batman has been shown to have superior intellect in most cases. And most of Batman's villains wouldn't want to reveal Batman's identity because they enjoy playing the Hero-Villain game. On the note of not aiming at Batman's face, it's actually a matter of aiming for the biggest target, which is usually center mass. On the note of the wire, i'll admit, that was one singular point of something not making sense, but not nearly as bad as what Snyder did to The Flash in Justice League. The riddler making a plan that ultimately backfires? That's usually how his arcs go.
