I enjoy my Schmeisser SP9 - as long as it works. I find it has to well lubricated to minimise extraction issues, and you have to pull the charging handle back HARD or the spent case won't extract... but when it works, it works very well and is lovely to shoot. Would be cool to see a UKPSA PCC "manual division" match at some point. 🤘

Perhaps hone the chamber to a mirror finish to ease extraction or use lower pressure ammo, polish the locking lugs.

Great review and it’s good to see a 9mm AR available in the UK. Shame it’s straight pull but not much you can do about that in the UK. Price wise they are a bit pricy compared with the USA but l guess that’s to be expected. If l were still in the UK l would get one for sure. ❤

As the UK gun premium goes it’s not too bad. Paying £700 for a 15-22 hurts a lot more.

@@EnglishShooting I have a .223 Schmeisser LMR, I really like the rifle but I felt the Schmeisser own brand parts, trigger, charging handle and especially safety left abit to be desired. The safety in particular wasn't particularly tactile so was swapped for a Radian Talon which is a night and day improvement. Great shooting rifle though.

I can see this being pretty comfortable to fire, I just never got on with rifles that were not designed to be bolt action, being made to comply with the UK laws, I found the AK and M4 particularly irritating, I just stuck with my old lee enfield .303 Mausers and other bolt action rifles, and winchesters and other leaver action rifles for pistol calibres, they just feel more natural to use. . This looks like a nice mix.

I fell in love with Schmeissers the first time I fired one of the straight pull, having previously disliked the AR platform. The build quality is astonishing, their warranty is first class. It's 3rd on my shopping list, really have to fill my current slots first 🤣

I'm curious as to where in the uk can you go to practice and shoot one of these if you own one? I want to get into Practical Shooting so I'm loving the videos keep them coming!

Do you folks have practical shooting competitions in the UK for which this would be acceptable. I'm in the US and we have great fun with PCC matches. Just wondering if there is anything like that there, and if so, if this type of gun would be viable. Seems slower to shoot than something like a .357 lever action but much faster to reload.

It’s been talked about quite a lot, IPSC does have a manual rifle division, it wouldn’t be out of the question for there to be one with PCC. There have been plans previously for a manual rifle only level 3 match here.

Let me get this straight: we've given engineers headaches to turn an assault rifle from the 60's, into something that shoots a 120 years old cartridge like a frozen Garand in the Ardennes battle, still slower than a winchester from the 1800s for the cost of a modern high res thermal optic...Bureaucrats 1 - 0 citizens

This a rifle for left handed use, so one does not have to take one’s finger off the trigger to operate the bolt handle? 👀

Why is it not lever action? Why is it not grip cocking?

Grip cocking has only ever been done once and fairly poorly and there is a lever action 9mm ar15 but it's crap, this is much better

@@perarduaadastra873 the sgc 9mm lever action is about 3k was rushed to market to cash in on the people who just sold their lever releases and because of that it just ergonomically and design wise isn't there so for the cost of one of those you can get one of these and a traditional 357 lever action with money spare for suppressors and optics

@@ambivalentonion2620 I’ve not had a chance to handle the current SGC 9mm lever action. Sophisticated and nuanced sporting guns for approved clubs in the U.K. is quite a niche market, supporting civilian marksmanship as a martial art in defense of the realm.

I will buy one of these if they make one in 10mm Auto (straight pull)

@@Vormulac1 Sure, I enjoy small bore also. You could find your closest clubs which offer centre fire, by searching online, looking at national target sports organisation web sites, and the NRA offer a club finder facility, as will the NSRA be more than happy to help find a centre fire club. It’s action based, against a clock, paper targets as well as reactive targets such as bowling pins and steel plates. I believe there is still a practical rifle association.

Is it small deer legal ?

Any calibre is technically legal if it meets the minimum requirements of muzzle velocity which I doubt you’d get from 9mm

No, you won't get more than 500 ft/lbs out of most loads, 9mm doesn't gain much from a long barrel unlike 357 & 44 Mag does

Looks awful with that mag the stick mag , and worse with the mag well added . might have being better if you said the thread pitch for the Mod

As a Marlin owner AND .223 SP owner, I think I would have a hard time justifying this rifle.

Just imagine the looks on the flat cap brigade faces when you turn up at the range with this .can't see the point of this personally just to punch paper and strut around your club with at this price I've got better things to spend it on ...

The lengths you’d have to go through to own one of these in the uk would be ridiculous
