It's illegal to take Buddha statues out of the country, and yet strangely it's fine for local businesses in tourist areas to sell them.

Really? Im vietnamese - southeast Asian, somehow we are similar a bit in many points. But i dont know you can take buddha salutes out of thai? Why i saw many ppl buy small buddha salutes as gift & decor to hime & gift to their friends? My sis & bro in laws was do & buy it before in thailand. Or you talk about HISTORY BUDDHA SALUTES - if its have stories & ancients long time it might different case

The one I bought in Thailand was fine, I just had it wrapped in a towel in my check-in luggage and it was fine. But generally Newly cast images of Buddha in complete condition can be exported for worship, cultural exchange or educational purposes with licenses issued by the Fine Arts Department. Not more than 5 pieces per person shall be allowed. Reproductions of antiquities can also be exported with licenses :)

You can drink on a public holiday such as King's birthday but not on those religious holidays. (Ask 7-eleven staff, they can tell you the dates.)

Your content should be viewed by all the younger generation, so they don't act a fool in Thailand. I am coming back in July, but this time it's a one-way ticket with an Elite Visa. Yeah, I qualify for retirement, barely, but Elite had less hassles. Keep it up man, the younger generation has to realize that they can't act a fool like they do in the US. Catch ya around when I get over there in July, probably heading to Jomtien.

You can drink between 2 and 5 if you are out at the beach though…you just can’t buy it At the stores.

You can buy at many places during this time. It's just against the law

You forgot to mention vaping ,which is illegal & smoking on the beach which both will give you a hefty fine of a 100.000 baht minimum.

When working out you time on your visa bear in mind that a part day is taken as a full day. I found this out when my airline changed my flight but i calculated i was still within the visa time. In real time i was only in Thailand for 29 days and 22 hours. But because of the way its calculated its 31 days. We just got told off and the following trip no problems.

Matter a fact I'm here right now and people are still doing it.

Lots of outlets to buy weed in places like bkk or phuket (though the law may be changing again), but strictly a no no to smoke in public or walking down the street, you can be arrested or fined.

I love the law on alcohol. Not complete abolish but time restricted. Wish the West could do this

To my knowledge you need to file with immigration regardless, so you'll need to know the address

I think they introduced the ban on buying alcohol between 2 - 5 pm to curb children/teenagers buying it when they come out of school. They had a military coup several years ago and I think about that time there were a lot of changes and curfews put in place that didn't make much sense. I think there thinking about getting rid of it because it's impacting the hospitality sectors :)

You can drink anytime you like. Its the sale of alchohol that has restrictions. Thats my understanding. No there are NOT a "lot of other laws" around marijuana..... there is currently no legislation at all as it has not been passed through parliament. Good video, if a little inaccurate and overlooking important details in some areas.

What if your rental term is for 6 months and you are only on a tourist visa and planning to fly out of the country every 2 months and re-enter 1-2 weeks later? The fact that you are renting a place more than your visa limit won’t matter right?

It depends on your visa history but you might get denied after 3-4 times. I was but came back via a land border. You can't live long term stress free in Thailand on a tourist visa.

After 2 months you can go to your nearest immigration office to get it extended, then depending on how much time they give you,you can do your visa run.

Don't lose your temper when getting into an argument either as it is just not tolerated always disagree politely: do otherwise raising your voice in front of the police and you'll be the one that instead gets charged and dispatched home!

The laws have been like that for a long time. Whats new is cops extorting money from vapers. Lots of people vape here they are just smart enough to be discreet about it.

The foriegners caught vaping werent arrested.... they paid bribes to cops... Some videoed the cops extorting them which resulted in disciplinary action on the police.

what about actors and extras (foreigners) working here without work permits, no insurance and paid cash. hiding here by going visa runs and educational visa. getting married visas and working without a work permit. when are the government going to look into that.

also, i remember one of the reasons i didnt go to thailand earlier was their harsh penaltys on hash and weed. they are ni joke hard core on drugs. in the past like life sentance and death for hash stuff. i only smoke weed and dont do the more hardcore drugs like it did when i was into the party scene. bubt love the new laws on budz

Pretty obvious stuff. I think it should be illegal to take moon selfies in any religious place, not just in Thailand. Just show respect to the Thai culture and don’t break obvious laws like drugs or overstaying your visa, and you will have the time of your life here.

I heard that you cant smoke weed in public, only in private? It there a way around? Is it ok to smoke when there is not a lot of people around?

Dude a couple years ago they'd throw away the key if they even found you with weed on you. Now in this massive 180 it's not only legal but it's absolutely everywhere with few laws at all yet on consumption. So don't do it in public places is one of the very few - why push it? The whole bill is very much up in the air - it's not settled law yet with significant opposition- so it's the people that are going to try and break or bend the little laws that currently exist that are going to give ammunition to law makers that want to make it illegal again. I'm not trying to pick a fight but honestly it's attitudes like this that are going to ruin it for everyone. Just enjoy it in a coffee shop or at home. FWIW I think it's highly likely that this isn't going to last long and the bill will be repealed. Its all political - complex horse trading between various opposition factions. But most people in Thailand when polled are against it,.so smoking it in public places isn't going to help
