Why Teen Dream By Beach House Will Always Be An Indie Classic
Beach House's 2010 album Teen Dream took them from indie darlings to a staple in the music industry. Their first album after being signed by Sub Pop (the record label behind albums such as Nirvana's Nevermind and the Postal Service Give Up), Teen Dream expanded the group's novel sound into a grandiose spectrum of swirling reverb and beautiful melodies. In this video essay, I discuss the importance of this record as well as explain some interesting facts about it's production.

This album is virtually perfect, and they would still go on to outdo it with Bloom. That’s how insane of a run Beach House was (and still is) on. Walk in the Park and 10 Mile Stereo are unbelievable songs.

It is a beautiful space
This album always has me feeling some type of way, almost melancholy. I think it’s the way every song is written so beautifully, the lyrics are phenomenal, and extremely meaningful it’s mesmerizing. It makes me a bit sad but in a weird happy way where I feel like hope is around the corner. Idk beach house has just always been there helping me with every emotion humanly possible. They definitely made a huge impact in my life. Music is just so beautiful.

What was the live version of silver soul you used as the background music for the video?
I had read that producer Chris Cody was actually more of a catalyst for this album. Pushing the duo out of their lazy-home recording efforts.

Amazing video. Methodical research. Fun facts. I just have one reservation - your pace. It'd be better if you slow down slightly and really enunciate your words and feel them while speaking. It felt rushed in parts which took away from such great research.

Yea. I don't know why people like this album that's why I'm here. It didn't hook me on the first listen like Depressing Cherry and ONCE TWICE MELODY
