Let’s be honest here. Sweden hasn’t turned against Norwegian immigration but has against Somali immigration and it’s because of the behaviour of different immigrants. If Somalis in Sweden obeyed the law, got educated/employed and integrated as well as Norwegians there would be no backlash to the latter in the same way there isn’t to the former.

Speak great Polish, very hard workers, really pleasant to work and socialize with. The generational progress is also visible, some Vietnamese friends of mine with parents working manual jobs went to top schools and graduated with prestigious degrees (medicine, law, engineering). Why would they? They own women in their home countries. Why would they be prepared to allow women free will? Spousal rape doesn't even exist in countries with Sharia Law. By that I mean that the legal system doesn't accept such a thing to be possible. In practice it happens all the time, including with children.

  • @thomasjefferson6

To KaleighMacKay: Muslim men do NOT consider women as equals, nor does the religion they follow. According to the Koran the "captives of the right hand" (women obtained in jihad) are gifts to Muslim men from Allah to do with as they wish. It is no wonder that sex slavery and the rape of women are so common with Muslim men. In Islam, a woman must be silent in public, must not go out in public unless accompanied by a male relative or husband, must dress "modestly" (i.e. in things ranging from a headscarf to a ghoulish burqa), must at all times be obedient to her husband (she must be beaten if she refuses according to the Koran). In Islam woman's testimony in court is deemed half as valuable as a man's. (The testimony of a non-Muslim in court against a Muslim is always refused). Children belong exclusively to the man; the woman has no say in their upbringing, which is why Muslim women are forbidden to marry non-Muslim men. A woman who is raped is deemed guilty unless she can provide four male eyewitnesses as to her innocence. (A non-Muslim woman who is raped by a Muslim is not permitted to bring a charge against him). In Islam, men are not only permitted up to four wives, but as many concubines (sex slaves) as they wish. These and much more are regarded as the very law of Allah, impossible to modify, let alone reject, and this is all part of the Islamic culture that stupid politicians (most especially but not exclusively of the political Left) have invited into their countries all over the western world.

Here's a story from my home town in Sweden. After 2014-2015 when Sweden accepted a LOT of Arabs/muslims from Syria, north Africa, Afghanistan, Somalia etc etc we started to notice a change in our town and the stores and the overall feeling. Groups of 5-10 single young (like age 30 and below) males started roaming around town and looking for stuff to do, and they started harassing young girls for phone numbers, and also some committing petty thefts from stores. Some stores had to close / shut down because of this, and some other stores had their windows broken when they refused to pay for "protection". The problem is not immigration as such (because some immigration is always needed and is good), it's when you allow people in who do not share the same basic democratic and cultural values as you do as the majority already living there. The unchecked immigration basically destroyed my home town, and now it's in a downward slump with increasing crime, and people moving away from there. It's such a waste that we let this happen.

Hi! I live in a small municipality in Sweden, It is one of the most effected by immigration in the whole country. I worked at the asylumcentre that existed here back in 2015-16 (it is gone now). And what I experienced working with the immigrants can be summed up to this: They are looking to get everything for free. They treated the centre as a hotel and were terrible at adapting to their situation. They never looked after their kids, smoked indoors, splashed water everywhere ( they never understood the concept of waterdamage to the building) and they even went so far as to urinate/defecate in hallways and stairs. All in all I worked with ca 250 people and out of them I a handful of great guys that worked and talked about how exited they where to be a part of my country and contribute. I have since moved into working directly with the local government part time (since the election). And after I started looking into the migrant situation more I found out that our municipality's welfare cost shoot up from 5,000,000 SEK (ca 500,000USD) to 35-40,000,000 (3,500,000-4,000,000USD) between 2013 to 2018. And the numbers are about the same today. This has crippled my home to such an extent that we have to make cutbacks pretty much everywhere just to stay afloat. Let this be a lesson to everyone, that immigration is a sacrifice for the country and is a choice one shouldn't take lightly.

I lived in Sweden 20 years ago and although not mandatory, migrants were encouraged to assimilate in language, culture, social norms, and all the sort of things that allow one to integrate - even taxation, personalnummer, educational opportunities. It was impressive. Last year I was in Stockholm and was surprised that immigrants were sleeping on the street near T-Centralen. And speaking to friends in Goteborg they referred to "little Baghdad" where crime was rife. I guess that integration programs could not be scaled up to take the vast number of immigrants. Also certain types of immigrant DO NOT WANT to integrate and are happy to take welfare - like most countries in Europe. All they want is Sharia.

Many of them have kids, born in sweden, but not part of the culture, completely seperate to the Swedish society. What does it mean? If you take a walk across any Swedish town apart from downtown Stockholms fancier streets, The feeling most people get is that the % of foreign people far exceeds even 50%. Far exceeds. Swedes are a minority in Sweden, and that's why people are voting against more immigration, and other's like myself chose to leave and find a bettwr place without a majority of extreme middle eastern culture.

Sometimes, it's worth considering why many people leave their home countries. Most likely, they didn't want to leave but had to due to conflicts, often sparked by powerful nations advocating for "freedom." However, there's also the issue of some immigrants not fully embracing the culture of their new country, while the host nation struggles to handle the influx. It's a complex situation with challenges on all sides. As a Swede, I believe our government has let down both our citizens and the immigrants it promised to support. The situation worsens when too many people arrive at once, leading to inadequate support and some immigrants living separately in cities. If newcomers don't understand Swedish language or culture, they may resort to illegal activities due to difficulty integrating. This is exacerbated when both individuals and the government don't do enough on both sides. During the influx, Sweden should have managed immigration more carefully and provided better support for integration. Perhaps the fear of being labeled as "racist" influenced and clouded the government's decisions. It's important to avoid blaming any one group and work together towards Sweden's recovery.

I'm quite left leaning and have been rather open towards helping immigrants, but it is abundantly clear that our country (Sweden) has failed in integration, and so have many immigrants. I knew what this would become as I came from a city with high immigration rates from Turkey and Arab countries. Nothing but issues. My own husband called me xenophobic and racist. Now that we are facing the problems that were obvious to so many people here right from the start, politicians and green/left parties are geniunely surprised it didn't work out. It's a nightmare and Germany has been going downhilll ever since. I do hope we follow Denmark's example.

I was impressed by such strong vocal cords, but also I was flabbergasted how come he doesn't get the clues from his surrounding that we here don't shout THAT loudly, even when arguing, on a phone?!😅 This might be a petty and harmless example, but it shows just how utterly incompatible certain cultures are. Many Western First World countries are now learning this lesson: once you open the door of your house to a stranger, it's no longer "your" house alone anymore; you share it with someone else who may think and feel differently about how things are done in your home. And sometimes (sometimes) you even end up losing control of your home, now the stranger dictates the rules, as you are too weak to oppose or reverse things back to what once were. Now you have to deal with an (apparent) "forever" problem: good job, you were such a nice person for opening the door, congratulations. The issue is that this wasn't obvious when the only strangers that came to your home were from your own "neighborhood", with almost equal or similar customs and culture, easy to adapt and integrate. But when others come from VERY different cultural background, then don't expect and easy road. It's worse with many foreigners who come with HIGHLY ethnocentric societies ("MY religions is the best and superior one, MY customs are the ones who have the higher moral ground, MY people are the stronger ones... etc.) that can make integration basically impossible. It NOT THEM who has to integrate, it is YOU who has to convert to their worldview or, at the very least, allow for a parallel world to grow inside your country, until it gets strong enough to rule you all. Nevertheless there is un unresolved underlying problem: Sweden, as well as ALL of the West, is "dying out" due to negative birth rate (google it: less than 2,1 children per woman in ALL the Western world) what means and old population that will plummet once the baby boomers generation begin to die (that is in the next 10, 20 and 30 years). Then (and possibly) it will resort (again) to immigration as it's basically impossible for Sweden (and other Western countries) to face the real causes of low birth rates (not the "cosmetic" ones that they've already tackled and didn't work).

Im gonna voice my optinions, being born and raised in Sweden. We have tried to help out as much as possible by taking in people fleeing from their country of births issues, conflicts and wars. We have failed on our part by placing these immigrants in special spots in Sweden where there is a higher % of immigrants than in other places. What this has led to is immigrants, especially children of these immigrant-families, not being given more perspectives than they shouldve been given. All they know is war, rage and pain, and Im not psychologist, but Im sure this has led to many immigrants feeling the need to take this out on something or someone. Its really sad that they feel like this. On the other side however, the majority of these people havent tried hard enough to fit in with our people, and they come here thinking they can do whatever they want, and it has very much shown in later years with the surge of crime related to gangs of immigrants. At this point Im happy that we dont accept as many refugees. I have always and will always think that we need to focus on our own people, for example the homeless roaming the streets instead. How are we supposed to take care of other people when we cant even take care of our own?

And Sweden is ALOT tougher now on immigrants and especially muslims. And the whole crime thing has been extreamly overblown by the media. Yes crime is up alot but the vast majority of the crime takes place in a few specific bad neighburhoods. Outside of these small areas the normal Swedish life is as good as ever. This is what you get when you can't have an open yet critical debate about immigration without being branded a racist. Basically in all European countries that have taken considerable amount of immigrants (Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, the UK, maybe Switzerland?, and to somewhat of a lesser extent Denmark), you largely see the same issue that could have been solved much sooner if the people that expressed their discontent after they were experiencing the negative effects of mass immigration were being taken more seriously. Because of this mentality, most of these countries are now dealing with very segregated societies in which poverty and crime are often rather the rule than the exception. Finally, maybe it's time to simply accept that certain groups of people leading certain lives with certain beliefs and ideologies just aren't going to work well in most of the European countries, and they would be better off in other parts of the world. No idea how you could possibly do it without discriminating, but I think it's inevitable you somehow may have to filter people having these incompatible beliefs and ideologies out during their asylum/immigration applications.

The problem is why do you all use the word "immigrant" when discussing these matters? It's too general a term. Im an immigrant to the EU and I am from a country that is actually well received by most host countries because me and my people are known to be hard working and law abiding citizens. We don't get in trouble, we just work and try to live in harmony with everyone. You will barely hear us in any news because of how good we assimilate, or at least not get in any trouble. I am an immigrant, so while I understand when people like you say "immigrant", you mean those immigrants that you deem undesirable for a multitude of reasons, it is also scary for me because when you walk down the street, if I dont look like you or if I am of a different skin color, how would you know if I am one of those desirable or undesirable immigrants? I feel your hatred and dislike here, but how do I know that you know I am not one of those immigrants you are disgusted of? If you're going to be against a specific set/group of immigrants, then be direct when addressing them and stop using the word immigrant because it scares the shit out of all of us.

However, you most likely going to say, "I still speak German" but that also mean you aren't a good refugee as well. Also, what you are saying is not true at all, Canada host a lot of refugees/immigrants and still do (new wave of refugees from Ukraine). Countries that host the most refugees are as follow: Islamic Republic of Iran 3.4 million Türkiye 3.4 million Germany 2.5 million Colombia 2.5 million Pakistan 2.1 million It is funny isn't, Iran is under heavy sanctions and they didn't really start any war unlike NATO did in the Middle East, Africa and now in EU. I don't believe you are that old (over 65 years old). "The 70s in Toronto saw the average home price rise 141% from $29,429 in 1970 to $70,830 in 1979." You clearly don't understand a thing about property market at all and how property market works in different countries. Last summer I went the wrong way when I came out of a train station outside of Stockholm - an area that I lived 20 years ago and hadn't been back to in quite some time. Parallel society is a good way to explain it. I knew I wasn't in the right place. It's the first time I've ever seen women in full burqas in Sweden. When I lived in Sweden 20 years ago, people who left their home countries in the Middle East weren't that religious - they wanted to escape. One family I've done for years left Iran for Sweden in the late 70s and they may have been culturally Muslim, but very moderate. That family is very integrated into Sweden now and their both of their sons are engineers. That's the view many Swedes had before of immigrants - people like that family who are amazing people and make Sweden better. From my brief walk to "the wrong side of town", I didn't get that. It seemed like such very bleak poverty and people who were refugees who were forced to leave their countries and brought their countries with them. Denmark has the right idea on dismantling those types of neighborhoods and forcing integration.

To alyssapowell1799: Because Islam is more of a political movement than a religion, and because Islamic culture has rules for all aspects of life, the more Muslims there are in a society, the LESS integrated they will become, not more. This is why Muslim immigrants seem to be integrated only when they exist in an overwhelmingly non-Muslim society. Once their numbers reach a certain threshold, they are able to form their own communities and neighborhoods and their sharia law culture surfaces and reasserts itself. (Muslims can also can make things very unpleasant for non-Muslims living in their midst, and their religion teaches that non-Muslims to be regarded with contempt). The Islamization of western nations is a looming catastrophe, but it will be even worse for the women living in these countries.

To alysssapowell1799: These are fascinating comments. I found very interesting your remarks about people who were "culturally Muslim" but "very moderate". The problem for such people is that there is no such thing as a version of Islam that is "very moderate". Sooner or later, and under pressure from "not very moderate" Muslims, these people will either revert back to full Islam, or else leave Islam. Few ever do that latter, because the penalty for leaving Islam is death, not according the current laws of Sweden, but according the law of Islam, the sharia. Being a "moderate" Muslim is like being halfway down an inclined plane on roller skates, because such a position has no root in anything to sustain itself other than a personal preference, and that can be a very temporary and fleeting thing.
