What I really love about Ghibli movies is that everything is filled with fantasy and wonder and mistery. And instead of everything being clear after and during the movie, you will be left with some questions about what you saw. What was that creature even? How can this even be possible? Dont try to answer them :) It's this mistery that that will make you want to come back

I feel like a lot of these Studio Ghibli films are being confused with Hayao Miyazaki's style. There are several different directors who make all of Ghibli's films, and they all have different styles. Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki are particularly contrasting filmmakers in that Miyazaki created unusual fantasy storytelling that was unique to anything else. But Takahata had an advanced sense of realism that was unparalleled to anyone, and actually made his films very mature and reflective of society, even as animated filmmaking.

What I love about Ghibli is that it romanticizes life. It captures that incredible feeling of just living, the Little mundane things are made to seem extraordinary, and the plot never seems to be focused on an arch but just a story. This doesn't mean that life is always wonderful but looking at it through Ghibil’s eyes makes you appreciate it all the more because real life is never so excellent, and that’s why one should understand it by living all the more

Anthony Lyons Disney is trying too hard to emphasise on current social values. It’s not a bad thing, but it doesn’t make you ‘ponder upon’ as compared to Ghibli films. Ghibli films on the other hand contains ‘vague’ meanings, which allows you to think to yourself. For instance, Princess Mononoke didn’t really highlighted that technology is often detrimental, as it is too required for the advancement of civilisation. They don’t paint technological advancements as the ‘villain’

Agreed on the details part. Studio Ghibli films have a few magical things that - for me - makes them the best in the cinematographic world: - cultural and real world problems discussed as an underlying oder direct topic that is connected to the plot. - fantasy and magic that is in connected to the scenes in a way that even the smallest things in live are given a very special place. That leads to inside appreciation for these things for the viewer. - imagination and creativity. This is such an important element since it transitions to creative thoughts of the viewers or, at least, confronts them with such feelings. - Art and narrative. These two things are more like the skills the studio brings with it and incorporates them in their movies perfectly. The ghibli films just have a unique and very magical flow while watching. - music. Amazing. Nothing more to say here. Give the composer some lovd for his epic work.

All of these points are actually present in almost every single modern Japanese anime. Anime/Animation isn't a genre, it's a medium, people should drop the mindset of thinking animation is just for kids and teens that is sometimes look down upon as low quality entertainment just because it's not real life. Just like real shows and movies, besides the mainstream shonen and action shows there are basically a wide variety of genre in Japanese animation that can basically cater to anyone's taste. Slice of Life, Psychological, Fantasy, Seinen, Shoujo, Romance, Music, Comedy, Mystery, Sci-fi and Horror and countless more.

Although " Grave Of The Fireflies " has its moments and I possess it on blu-ray, to my way of thinking it is a negative film. The boy has the chance to leave his sister in a fairly secure home, instead she starves to death in his company.

Of course it's a negative film it shows the real world at the time and even now. One of the big things that separates Studio Ghibli from Disney. Sometimes you don't get the fairy tale ending or your prince charming. It's just sad truth of what happens every day. 😢😞

The new Ghibli film coming out called: "Earwig and the Witch", doesn't have that same wonder and imagination as other Ghibli films. It feels Soulless and Dead inside.
