Such class De Villiers. A man who believes in the spirit of rugby and not the politics of rugby. Enjoyed watching him play growing up, and I'm kiwi.

Mate De Villiers is all class..... a gentlemen on and off the field.... much respect coming from a NZ fan who misses watching the South African teams play in super rugby :(

I love South Africans off the paddock!

My favourite All Black of all time. Rugby is the greatest sport on earth nobody can tell me otherwise.

What Jean de Villiers said about Ma'a Nonu, said more about his noble and class character than it did of Nonu. Much respect to this great man and outstanding ambassador of the game we all love.

JDV sportsmanship in the 2013 game was wonderful. He could have taken a completely different course of action and legitimately won the championship but he chose to be a gentleman and let Coles play on. That game is probably the best test match I have ever seen and as an ABs fan I think JDV has a massive part to play in the awesomeness of the occasion. Huge respect for him. Such a pity he got injured so many times at World cups but that does not detract from a brilliant career. Much love from NZ.

The respect post game between NZ and SA is amazing. Rugby like most team sports does develop boys to become great men!

Honorable sportsman, didnt want a technicality deciding what turned out to be an epic test match between SA and NZ back in 2013. One of the best test matches ever!

JdV has always been one of my favorite players, I have a lot of respect for his sportsmanship.

JDV was one of few Boks who was respected worldwide for his game. Never played with frustration like so many Boks do, played hard and played fair. A great international ambassador for our sport.

We stayed at the same hotel as JDV in Hong Kong at a sevens tournament...the guys the happiest,nicest SA I’ve ever come across..a good vibes sort of dude

Always a fun time seeing both our countries engage with each other in hands on contact 🔥 much respect from nz ❤️

@Lio Taumiti it’s a compliment... Nonu used to play exactly like Tuilagi when he was younger. Then he developed the offloading and kicking game that took him to the next level...

I heard - that apparently = hearsay. But the story goes that Ma'a lived in the same street in Wellington as a child who was very ill and needed a lot of expensive specalised care, and one day Ma'a turned up at their house with a boot load of stuff, signed jerseys and things like that - that helped family hugely both financially and emotionally with their son's unfortunate plight.
