I've never actually hated a film before... But this movie pissed me off with how dumb and pretentious it was, it's so bad that it ruined Hereditary for me the next time I watched it.

This is the first time i’ve ever gone to someone’s channel after they asked me to on someone else’s video. I’m glad I did, your voice is very endearing. I’m subscribing, great video & you’re absolutely right about the foreshadowing : you think you know, then 2h later you find yourself staring at the guy you hated through the whole thing burning alive and still unable to know if you’re rooting for Dani or not. I’m so happy Florence Pugh got a spot on the Avengers, she was phenomenal in Midsommar and deserves to remain in the spotlight everywhere

To me, watching this movie felt like a waste of 2.5h. The beginning had me optimistic about the rest of the movie, the beginning was quite good. Turned out that it would have me bored out of my mind the following couple of hours. Maybe because I'm a swede all of this felt *so* out there and unrealistic and therefore didn't feel scary or creepy in the slightest, just kinda cringe. A big reason it felt so boring, I think, is that barely anything happened for long periods of time and when stuff did happen they were very predictable. And for some reason, I dunno why because I'm usually horrible with scary stuff, none of the scenes people are saying are unsettling didn't unsettle or budge me at all. The suicide jump I saw coming from a mile away (not the jump specifically but that they'd die) and the sex scene was just weird and boring. This is just me giving my two cents on why I didn't really enjoy the movie, if anyone's wondering why people wouldn't like it.

The movie intentionally drops subtle hints of what’s to come. The alienation, the psychological manipulation, the gas lighting, the mental breakdown, the brainwashing. People who hate the movie seem to miss the subtle details here, and they’re really the most important. This isn’t just a cult thriller, it goes much deeper than that and explores the negative traits, the vulnerable traits of humanity. While you see “nothing happening” or whatever for long periods of time, I see subtle hint dropping and character accentuation. It lulls you into a disturbed trust. These reasons are why I think movie is great.

@@wesphillips8058 I caught most of the subtle hints, kinda why I felt the movie was too predictable. The thing about it isn't that it didn't have enough hints of what to come. It's that what came was boring and not thrilling nor exciting for me. Nothing to make me wonder what's gonna happen, like the directors last movie.

@@halosaft I will admit that I didn't expect to dislike the whiny, unlikable, and unsympathetic Dani as much as I did...so that was unexpected. I also didn't expect Charlie to get her head popped off...except that made me laugh which was probably unintended by Ari Aster.

There really are places like this. Most of these type of movies such Wicker Man are based on Alistair Crowley's commune in Sicily in the 1920's... allegations of ritual sex and cannibalism and human sacrifice...closed down by Sicilian police based on local complaints.

Absolutely! Hell, I've had friends here in Louisiana that have been invited to serve as a Madame or Mother of Darkness on farms further South. There was a man about 10 years ago two towns over, Freemason, started speaking to town people about his meetings. He was found in a ditch disemboweled. You and I don't have to believe in it because they already do.

I wonder if one of the reasons people didn’t like it because they went into it expecting a horror movie, and midsommar is NOT horror. It is more of a disturbing film for the sake of being disturbing rather than trying to be scary for audiences.

I saw Herreditary again a few weeks ago, that movie is freaking amazing and scarry as shitt. This movie, is PURE shitt haha. Not even the so called horrible stuff is scarry. If they just changed the soundtrack it could be a 100% Parodi.

I actually got sad watching it! I associated genuinely with Dani's panic attacks. Seeing her in crippling positions from anxiety and depression hit very hard, and stuck with me for a couple days. I'll have to go back a stronger person to watch it. The brutality was also very draining, wrapping your head around the reality of some of the rituals and ceremonies were consuming. Especially since they used real references. The end scene will be why I return, the triangular building and the ceremonial mask/veil the Elder was wearing is waaaaay too close to Freemasonry and Enlightenment, a very real and universal secret society. That scene is 100% the Devil's advocate.

Hey I really like your content and I really hope you gain in popularity! I have a few recommendations like making your audio just a tad louder than the music. Also i looove the chill vibe w/ the casual talking and the lofi music but i recommend spicing up the editing & visuals to make it a lil more engaging and maybe even matching the background music to what your talking about, like start out w/ the pretty music and then when u start talking about how the movie suddenly gets super crazy, maybe up the music a little. Also maybe adding subtitles would be nice! Also I absolutely adore your music choice and voice! Also please please do I’m Sorry to Bother You. It’s an EXPERIENCE.

@Tabo Beeran Hereditary and Midsommar are both brilliantly directed, so saying he’s not one of this generation’s best directors just because he has room to grow and has only made two films is unfair. Sometimes it only takes two films to realize you’re witnessing the birth of a master.
