or maybe do something with biomes as well. like a sniffer in one biome can dig up flower seeds, while in a different biome it finds old saplings, and in another it can find other plant life like different vines. add items, and also the project of moving the sniffers around the world to get all the new drops

Torch flower should be used for night vision or that glow effect from spectral arrows. Pitcher plant should have some effect on insects and arachnids. If nothing is done with these plants then the sniffer should just stay extinct

I don't know why they can't add all 3 of them in 1 go, they only creating unhappy players, also having more mini bosses or monster could be nice (Warden was a nice add but we need more), Shoulda just add all 3 of the monsters that showed alongside with phantom

I 100% agree, minecraft has gotten boring for me to play because its too easy, dive into a cave get full iron and a diamond pick then go to the neather and get full diamond from bastion chests

I hope on the next patch (maybe), Torchflower has a light level that high, so we can make our garden some natural lighting...

I love how the sniffer in the thumbnail is having a running nose instead of tears....

If you look at this year’s mob vote and how it was set up, there is a possibility that Mojang rigged the mob vote by having two mobs that have not that great features and one (the sniffer) that was more fleshed out than the other two mobs in the vote. Another piece of evidence is that Mojang wanted to have something to go with the “Trails & Tales” update’s story of the ruins you find in the Minecraft world for the archeology feature. I honestly would like a mob to be found in the abandoned mineshafts, and I know that the Minecraft developers do not want to add a mining helmet as that is “too modern.” But what if I were to ask for a mining helmet that uses Calcium Carbide (Calcium Acetylene) and water to create a dim light on the player? This is actually a real life object that could fit well in Minecraft being made of an amethyst shard and copper that would have to be cleaned as it would corrode over time. To refill the lamp Calcium blocks would be crushed into calcium powder and with another item used to create Calcium Carbide. Calcium carbine and water would be added to the bowl and to light the acetylene gas from the reaction a flint and steel would be required.

​@@politicallysplitting the update is due to how massive the changes were. They simply promised something so complex they could never achieve it in time. Implementing a completely new procedural generation algorithm is a huge task, and they also needed to change a lot of the existing code. Besides, they needed to implement the new blocks, test and make sure everything worked as expected. Introducing the new blocks and then changing the generation ensures we had the novelties while they had time to develop the huge upgrades.

Good to know that there are still people who aren't blinded by the hype that's comming from the community and actually understand how sniffer was a bad choice

To be honest, most mobs in the votes are bad or just not as good as people envision them to be. I'm pretty bored of the Allay now. Their AI is horrible and the mechanic of using note blocks and how they throw the items at it. They miss half the time and have to keep picking up the same things they just tried to toss into the hopper. Glow squid is neat for bright text on signs or glow item frames but I have so damn many glow ink sacs that I have disabled my farm by lighting it up with froglights.

Add more to the loot table for sniffers. Different loot depending on the type of blocks they are sniffing; dirt. Gravel, sand, podsol etc

i would have been really happy if the sniffer would have had more plants and stuff that it can dig up, and maybe do it so it can dig different things depending on the biome or temperature... i think that would have made more sense and be really cool

to make the sniffer useful they should add useful plants that he digs out

Worst thing is that they're fully able to do everything they're putting out for the mob votes, and they could bring back older vote mobs but they refuse to for no reason (just like sideways slabs smh), and if these things are a bit buggy at release then they can patch it out with guaranteed minor updates after release. People literally voted for the Sniffer just for some new flowers besides the fact that the bone block structures are Sniffer remains.

I think the issue with the sniffer is with the plants. Torchflowers have the word torch and should produce light. Pitcher plants, if you compare them to real life similarities, will make you realize how they should be able to hold water. If the plants themselves had cool features, the sniffer would be a lot better

I have an idea of a beter ability to add to the sniffer like: Firstly you need to get a saddle and put it on the sniffer next when you sit on the sniffer you could like drive the sniffer like a mole through the ground. Personaly i think that would be rlly cool!

The real issue with the sniffer is the two seeds. Theres only two. I wasnt expecting more than three (but was hoping theyd add a bunch more over the development of 1.20). Mojang upped their game and only added two so they somehow lowered the bar even more than I had. Sure, maybe they MIGHT add more seeds...in five years. What is the point in voting for something in X update if its development is perpetually ongoing?

That happened in almost every update. The fans overhype a mob and than that mob will be garbage.

They should make it to where sniffers a small chance of digging up treasure items depending on which biome they're in. In Deserts and Jungles they might dig up diamonds, in Forests and Plains they might find Emerald, in Swamps they might potions and slime balls, and in Badlands they find gold and if you bring them to the Nether they might find enchanted books and enchanted gold equipment and in the End maybe something new?

You need to test arrow damage fired from a dashing camel as a passanger

Yeah, the sniffer is really disappointing. But I agree the camel is a great addition to the desert.

I never understood how people thought the sniffer was worth it. People go on about how cute it is. I don’t see it. The noises it makes grate me. People saw potential that was never going to be fulfilled in the sniffer but couldn’t see the same (mediocre) potential in the rascal just because it was holding an iron pick. Same happened with allays. Screw golems in general.

Im mostly disappointed about the fact that the sniffer doesn't have a hatching animation, it just pops out from the egg like the turtles, and i agree the sniffer has little to no use...

What I would do is I would replace the Wandering villager's llamas with a Camel and allow you to put chest and carpets on them as those were the main uses of animals (transporting goods) so i think that that would work really well!

What I’ve noticed lately is that Mojang has better taste in mobs than the players do. All of the mobs that Mojang decides to put in the game are useful and fun, while all of the mobs the players have voted for have been garbage. Mojang should just get rid of the mob vote altogether.

Making an extravagant change that every player agrees with is hard. Modders do not have this problem because their mods are optional to install. Also, in the end, this is Mojang's game after all. I personally really like the camel because my main world is in a desert biome, but I did have to travel to a new village to find one. I'm not complaining about having to explore, because I also found a ruined portal, two shipwrecks( and therefore two buried treasures) and an ocean ruin!

It will be amazing and really make the sniffer worth it if we can use the ancient plats to make portions of haste and resistance that will make pvp much better and fun and also give use the the sniffer and ancient plants

The sniffer should have dug up plants like the plant species x, y, and z from ark. I can't remember which one does which but one of them is like an auto turret another one you can throw like a flashbang, and one of them is a trap for other players. If they made the pitcher plant into a trap that would be awesome as pitcher plants are carnivorous plants that trap bugs

I think they shouldve made the sniffer more visibly appealing (like adding plants to its model) other than that the model is cool. But like the sniffer shouldve been able to dig up more then just 2 flowers, one of which doesnt live up to its name. The "torchflower" which provides no light and instead just has fire like colors which takes away from its name bc if you think of a torchflower w/o knowing what it looks like then you imagine a flower that emits light. Honestly I think this shows that any other flowers or things that seems or sounds like it would emit light will not which is worrying bc light (or glow) really helps environments look really cool and enticing. Overall I think no one will ever be going all out to get a sniffer unless they actually adore it, love flowers/a flower collector, a rare mob collector, etc. Tbh the glow/light thing makes me worried for any update they might make for the end dimension

Ould be great if they added sniffer meat and that we could make armours with the sniffer remains.

Sniffer has so much potential, even with the seeds. Lets see what happens next!

Mine too. If anything, adding all three of each vote will make it feel fuller as a *"major"* update, instead of a singular addition.

The mob vote system is very flawed, the fact that we have to choose one mob from three options is absolutely ridiculous considering Mojang is worth $2.5 billion and definitely could add all three had they truly wanted to. Mojang should be given way more criticism for their laziness and terrible work rate, I mean I know mods that add way more content in just one update than Mojang does is years.. modded will always be better until Mojang actually gets their shit together and starts producing updates which you would expect from a $2.5 billion company

I like the sniffer and I was all for it and even voted for it. To keep people interested in it, I think they need to implement new mechanics for it. If they had made it so it ties into a hostile mob somehow, it would be interesting. Maybe Vex absolutely hate them and stay away from them. Or maybe they could have the ability to dig suspicious sand and gravel and get the item within. That would be interesting to see how people create new ways to get the sniffer to temples and ruins. Another possibility would be to continue to add new plants to the game and they start to find new, different seeds. Right now, I have 6 sniffers in a pen and have like 3 shulker boxes of pitcher pods and torch flower seeds. I actually have taken them out of the pen, and killed 4 of the sniffers. Pitcher plants and torch flowers aren't even that great looking. So many wasted opportunities in this update overall. Decorative pots should be able to by dyed and fired like terracotta without the crazy glazed patterns except for on the edges where the border of where sherds' design shows. I would love a light blue, shiny decorative pot with a diamond pattern on it. Or a red terracotta with the sniffer patterns on it. Also, let us put something IN them. Maybe two-tall flowers and plants. Chiseled bookshelves need a GUI and to be able to hold as much as a chest or barrel so I can put all of my enchanted books in them but only books and nothing else can go in them. Depending on how full it is, determines how many books show on the front so I know if I need to restock them just by looking and it will correspond to the signal strength it sends to a comparator.

I dislike how the Rascal was introduced and the focus was on the rewards. I found the hide and seek mechanic, even if unrewarding, as a more exciting introduction of a new mechanic. AI interaction just seems more viable for future updates. With the Sniffer, we're almost only going to get new plants if anything.

in next years, the sniffer will get more update (maybe ride him, more plants, cool drops when killing him?, maybe shears him, anything can be added)

By far the only thing good about 1.20 is the cherry tree

We are getting more and more and more pointless updates that are bloating the game to oblivion.

I think the camel was sorely needed. Deserts needed some sort of tlc, and it's even better since it's not just a modified horse. I suppose the sniffer is fine, not everything needs a purpose. But if they added functionally, if go with some sort of unique way to travel. It's got six legs and looks sturdy, so maybe it can carry 4 double chests worth it stuff and be a mount. Or sacrifice some of that room for a crafting/cartography table, brew stand, and/or grindstone/stone cutter to get a mobile crafting area.

I'm hoping they do add more features, like when they updated the shulkers, maybe the sniffer will be a hidden treasure

The only upside to this mob, is I can make a torturing device that kills them and destroys all their loot indefinitely

Sniffer is cool. It makes great noises and looks fantastic, I'm happy. Not found a cammel yet but they look great

They should make Sniffer rideable but with a torch flower or pitcher pod on a stick.

I've been playing 1.20 for a couple of months now, I waited until late July to update because I didn't see much I cared about with 1.20 and in all honesty I could do without this update entirely with 2 exceptions, hanging signs and chiseled bookshelves. Sniffers to me are annoying, ugly, and pointless. They literally only give 2 seeds of which only one is cool looking and can be placed in a flowerpot. Dyes are easy enough to make so using these slow to acquire seeds for dye is stupid. One of their seeds which makes the torchflower (which to me is the only nice looking useful flower) you also have to use to breed them. So if you wanted to use a lot of torchflowers for decorating, it would be an extremely time consuming process, and you'd have to deal with standing around waiting for these ugly slow BORING mobs to dig the seeds up. Not to mention the sounds they constantly make are ANNOYING as heck. But with Mojang updating every year it is to me WAY too time consuming to wait around on ONE useful feature from this mob that looks like someone vomited fruit loops all over it. I intentionally did not vote in the mob vote even though it was in the launcher because the 1.19 update made me livid about the stupid chat reporting and the garbage that went along with it. To me, the updates are getting worse, at least the last 2. I do like the new caves, and was happy with frogs, but it seems to me that there is so much more they could do to make simple much more enjoyable improvements to the game. Mind you, I love building, and I think that redstone creators make amazing things, but let's talk about one example of a situation where these in my opinion "minor" updates don't really help much. Most servers will update fairly quickly when a new update comes out, and that happens once a year. Take Tango from Hermitcraft, He spent 13 months developing Decked out 2, between the building and the redstone "programming" to create a massive game which is AMAZING. 13 months.. that's a LONG time to get a major project completed. Thankfully they just updated and expanded the border when 1.20 dropped, otherwise he'd never have gotten to complete his project. To spend such a ridiculous amount of time waiting for stupid sniffers to drop seeds, (thankfully which Tango didn't use) and having to deal with the slow moving ugly mobs, would have been a very painful process. So 1.20 brought pink wood and trees.. chest boats, sniffers, camels, and bamboo blocks.. that's all I can recall with the exception of the 2 items I am actually using in 1.20 the hanging signs and chiseled bookshelves. Overall I think 1.20 was nearly totally a useless boring update. I know loads of people really wanted customizable armor, and to some they like armor trims, but to me I could not possibly care less about armor trims. So the point of them to me is lost. I have seen modders do much more for the game in much less time to make it more fun engaging and enjoyable than the work I have seen come out of Mojang in the past 2 updates. I don't understand how people seem to get hyped up and excited about the recent updates when if you look past the hype of them they are so so unimpressive. Granted, I know work goes into the updates, and I respect that, but man, what has come from the past 2 updates has seemed to me to be so lacking in usefulness or enjoyability that it feels just plain boring. I just don't feel like Mojang can or is delivering much to the table in the past 2 updates to warrant my excitement or support of/for the last 2 updates. I know nothing about 1.21 and don't care enough to actually look into it or be interested or care at all. So that's where the last 2 updates has led this long time player to stand on the game. They literally have to keep doing updates to keep minecraft relevant, but sheesh, they really really need to step up their game - pun intended.

Sniffers are ancient creatures that are probably stronger then the wither and ender dragon combined against Ancient Sniffers who were 16 blocks tall and can eat the ender dragon on one go

They need to overhaul the end dimension with new biomes and structures, maybe even add a new boss that is only located like 10k or 50k blocks out

Remember the people that said it could add so much new things to minecraft but only thing it does is sniff up seeds💀

All I want in the next update is an improve pathfinding ai for villagers.

Ik had build a zoo in my survival world, I had cactuses too, one camel had only 2 hearts left 🤔 and it didnt even walk away..

i just hope in the next update there will be flying animal that can be tame and ride

I already used to hate sniffer when it came in voting. I voted for golem, but as last year we got USELESS allay, I have lost faith in poll.

I would realy like guard villagers spawnwith swords and shield and wear iron armor. It would be the first mob that can use a shield and they spawn 10 per village

no way a big turtle that walks around and sniffs the ground is dissapointing?

i think they need to add new mobs that you find farther out in the end like shulkers but you need to go far like you need to go far to find woodland mansions

If Mojang was smart, they would open their eyes to the fact that the only reason people voted for the Sniffer was for more decorative/environmental/aesthetic items. The game looks mediocre because they refuse to add more ambiance and life into the game. Minecraft is on limited time if they keep it up with terrible updates and failing to give the community what we all really want. Give us more ambiance and aesthetics and LIFE into the world and we can start to vote for mobs that genuinely add quality functionality and depth to the game. Until then, every “mob vote” will remain a “item vote” more than a mob vote.

i wish we could ride the sniffers, like 4 seaters that would be fun and make it can dig up stuff other than seeds depending on the biome it is in

don't know you miss or never heard about the leak before, there is actually a 3rd ancient flower never implemented and it is a wall/vine flower which is probably most useful decoration plant than those 2

I think that MOJANG will add new features related to sniffer. Like they will add more plant seeds or some rare items that only sniffer will be able to find. 😊😊
