First it's Shabbar Zaidi. Second it's not about "Pakistanis" digesting. It's about the Army and the corrupt government officials. Just because they have made wrong decisions that doesn't mean that's the analysis for the entire population. Just as Modi's views are not the views of the entire population of India. Shabbar zaidi is incredibly pro india and anti china to the point that he is against cpec but pro gulf Pakistan india pipeline.He uses concern of security with regards to chinese investment but forgets same would be an issue in the pipeline thing.. In 2018 he jumped up the property tax transaction from nothing to 20%.. a sane mind would gradually increment it but his actions sabotaged the whole idea regardless how sincere he was.. Similarly the smuggling thing needs time and cant go away overnight.his action were radical and even imran couldnt back him. I dont know what was he thinking when he thought smugglers would just start enrolling themselves in tax net. Smugglers only understand language of gun(operation azm e istehkam is against them), he should have kept bajwa in loop. Not just IR his sense of history is also skewed.Since he is from india he thinks rest of Pakistanis would think along his lines.. Pakistan aur india ka khana /gana aik nahin hai shabbar bro...both are diverse countries with different cultures. Regardless of all he gives an exceptional account of Pakistans economy he has identified several real issues.. and I will always give him credit for the track and trace thing approved under him..

Not even the whole program but a ten minute portion. 1. Get rid of the ego, swallow the pride 2. Restructure internal debt (yes, the stock indices will collapse). Banks will go bankrupt. Let them. They will regenerate with new capital 3. Actively settle with India and Afg 3a. Build oil and gas popelines, even transit to India from ME 4. Develop a comprehensive manufacturing policy 5. Restructure foreign debt 6. Put some Indian advisors on the economic policy! 7. Invest in education. Reduce Madrassa economy by 97% Admit mistakes and proceed humbly.

India simply can't afford to trust pakistan for oil,gas pipeline..I must say thanks to Pakistani establishment because they did denied india a path to central Asia in 2015-16..now we have full control of chabahar port..now Pakistani economists are desparately giving route to india in every podcast 😂😂

In coming 5 yrs India will be laying undersea oil and gas pipelines connecting KSA and Iran to meet its needs as they will be more safer and reliable compared to oil and gas pipelines coming over land from Pakistan. Moreover, it is perceived that Pakistan could play mischief by blocking pipeline supplies in the event of hostilities. It will be in the best interest for Pakistan to vacate occupied territories of India and normalize relations for long term peace and prosperity.

Ego, yes the ego is the biggest hindrance... The way Pakistan is being run economically shows that the country has no future. Economy does well while the focus is on wealth creation. But here the whole lots of energies are being spent on how to borrow money, and how to tax people to make arrangements for repayments. This is insane..... Neither they're focusing on exports to meet current account deficit nor on industry to increase wealth creation. And without these two, Pakistan can't survive, let alone economic development.

that is a misconception in indian media and gov that religious people or parties are running the country or sit in parliament. Religious parties don't even have 1/5 of the seats. The biggest showrunner don't take part in elections

Why it not compulsory to pay online if transection is more than 5000 And why not demonetization of 5000,1000 and even 500 rupee currency bill Uneducated poor man can pay with 100 rupee bill and big transections will be impossible to do That's easy way forward in digitalization

Nationalise all farm land not above 100 acres per farmer family. Settle local debts by not paying to banks but giving them nationalised government land instead, give farmers long term government bonds amounting the compensation at government land rates in exchange for his confiscated farm land.

this pipe line whihc he was talking has been going on for 20 yrs. Vajpayee govt took a hard look at and dropped it as indian govt thought at that time it is risky. But even now pakistan can look at it and defy us sanctions.

Not 10 provinces but local govt with direct funding direct police control direct admin. The population is TOO BIG NOW for delivery even by 10 provinces. You need BASIC DEMOCRACY level local govt.

Pakistan must repay $25 billion dollar foreign loans each year to avoid bankruptcy. Pakistan has rolled over $12 billion dollar loans in past 1 year already. Pakistan has $130 billion dollar foreign loans and $170 billion dollar equivalent domestic loans to repay. How to pay back these loans was not discussed.

Interesting discussion. I agree with many points discussed here, like divide the country by economic activity and competencies of the area. Smaller administrative units(10- provinces). Most European countries are between 5 to 20 million people- it is easy to develop strategies for smaller units than 230 million single federal unit. Hopefully some sense will prevail. With all due respect sir, for you to revamp your economy you’ll need first and foremost strategic autonomy. Your remote control is with China and US, they prescribe to you what you need to do, otherwise they’re calling in the debt. In pursuit of ghazwa hind you guys have sold your soul to the US and China and now, they’re the ones calling the shots. You have your army to thank for this, which dug a hole so deep that you can never get out of. India is trying to have an independent foreign policy so we can choose who we can partner with and who to pause ties with, and we’ve been paying a heavy price for this. But since we haven’t taken loans from the imf etc left and right , we have made some progress here. With almost next to nothing to exports and pretty worthless currency, you have no chance of being independent. You know what to do to fix things, independence stop being a security state etc etc, but these things aren’t realistic. The foundation itself is wrong so all you can do it patch jobs. Cure is impossible at this stage.

Have watched all the podcasts of Ammar where he is on the other side of the table and answering questions and on economic front he has said exactly what Shabbar Ji was saying. Only addition by Shabbar ji was ISPR, Toothless Pakistani Media, army etc. I remember Ammar saying that instead of transporting imported coal, transmission will be much cheaper if produced from thermal powerplant near karachi port even after factoring transmission loss. I being an economist completely agree with Shabbarji and Ammar.... but fail to understand why Pakistani Govt/army etc are not working on it.... i dont see any other option for Pakistan...

Mr Zaidi displays an astounding lack of understanding about local debt. Government cannot default on loans it has taken in a currency that is printed by the government. We must default on foreign loans now or else we will default on foreign loans later because they are in a currency we cannot print. This is not economics, it is accounting. And Mr Zaidi is a CA.😢

The powers that be do not want people employed and making things and I wonder if it is based on our "religious" mindset which says trading is sunnah or not taking any risk and being in the rent-seeking, non-productive use of capital mindset. The swindling/trading in plots, retail are all manifestations of this with zero value addition. When I say trading it is mostly internal because we do not seem keen to make anything worthwhile for export.
