Does having all of these cut outs make the cane body weak? I love the idea of being able to use the cane defensively, but its main purpose has to be to assist in walking. If it breaks because you had to give someone a swat, it becomes useless in its major roll and could actually put you in jeopardy when said assailant gets back up. You now have no defense and no way to get the hell out of Dodge.

I was thinking it would too. It's like cutting down a tree with an axe, yes? The strengths integrity would be compromised.

In as much as I want to have those features, Im having second thoughts because carving out sections of the cane will make the cane thinner and of course weaker versus one that has no additional carvings.

Hi there, thanks for reaching out! No, sharks teeth don't make affect or weaken the integrity of the wood or cane. This design adds a pointed, rigid edge to the cane which serves as a striking surface in self-defense situations. You can email us at info@canemasters.com if you need anything.

I have the same concern. One of my hardwood cane (not Cane Masters cane) broke at the groove when I used it as a lever. From that day I don't trust the durability of grooved canes. But of course, Cane Masters canes wont have the same weakness. Still, I would prefer a smooth surfaced cane.

Hi there, we are so sorry to hear that. However, all of our canes and sticks are ADA-approved. Did you get also a mobility card where it allows you to carry the cane anywhere you go with no questions?
