Stop saying this. It takes a combination of direction and story. Example, anandha thaandavam, little john, etc. These are his stories and was spoilt by lack of proper implementation. Secondly, there are three writers for Indian 2. Don't discredit them. Thirdly, even if Sujatha was alive, there would be so called youtubers, yourself and myself included who would find fault even with anything just to sound intelligent. Our minds have gone to find fault even with any and the so called review culture. Wish we could just enjoy even it has flaws. Peace ✌️

Direction is vision. Screenplay and scriptwriting are different department da.. Sujatha was the right person for Shankar. That doesn't mean Shankar lost his touch. He needs someone who scripts his vision in that grandeur way.

Shankar has never given a bad movie. His last 2 movies are average/Abv-avg range still it managed to do good numbers at box office . Just 2 average movies and all started to degrade & giving advise to one of the greatest commerical director of all time, He will definitely bounce-back with Indian 2 .

Shankar is struggling to find a replacement for Sujatha. He tried with multiple writers, nothing seems to click. And he's over-compensating the lack of quality writing with CGI/VFX and too much gimmicks. Indian/Mudhalvan/Anniyan/ Sivaji/ Enthiran. That was his peak time. We thought I was bad. 2.0 was pathetic. Even with all the practical stunts. Indian 2 will lack quality. Shankar lost the lustre he once had. He's just running behind sequels. Game Changer perhaps can get him a hit

Exactly... He's movies are Overbudget.... How can nanban budget be more than 3 idiots? 😂 Vijay is huge star now but during nanban Vijay renumeration was not as high as now.. "I" movie is best example for this.. Unnecessary vfx for songs... Movie could've be done in less than 30 cr budget if he didn't waste crores of money on song vfx... 😂 INDIAN 2 has same problem with Overbudget and unnecessary vfx for a movie that needs to be grounded in reality.. Look at vikram movie.. No unnecessary vfx, just good action movie with great screenplay, cinematography and camera cuts...

@@THUGPUTIN Budget of Indian 2 is only 250 crore. That is not a bad number. Varisu is a regional movie and it has a budget of 250 crore. Indian 2 is a Pan Indian movie. First movie has fans not only in TN but also in Kerala, Andhra, Telangana, Karnataka and Hindi belt. So it will be a hit.

The done to death complaint of indian 2 - no good education for the money spent, taxes with average facilities for commoners, no job for the studies done.. I can pick a dozen movies with the same monologue. There are aging martial artist who are 80ys old but no body can fight when they touch 100 it's near impossible. If indian 2 was set in the early 2000s with senapati at the age of 90+ it would have been much feasible. Doesn't it look dumb that people are calling senapati from their social media handles where in the age of technology anybody would be traced with a digital footprint.. Senapati will be nabbed easily if he accessed the internet. But kamal saw something in the story to make a chicken salad out of chicken shit so let's hope it bearable to watch atleast once. Otherwise the crew members who died during production, their sacrifices will go in vain

Only the Netflix K dramas have audience outside South Korea. The most famous director of South Korea is Bong Joon-Ho. He has left Korean film industry and is working in Hollywood. South Korea is left with directors that is not famous outside their country. It is the same for all the countries. All the successful ones of their respectful country has shifted to Hollywood. They only do movies in their country if they are not given films in Hollywood or if they lost their peak. British directors are making their movies into co-production between Hollywood and British film companies but it still has a help from Hollywood. The only non-Hollywood movie that became an absolute International sensation is The Fifth Element. Parasite was a surprise hit but Fifth Element is a French movie made by a French company, french directors, technicians, writers aiming at International audience. The movie gave makers what they wanted an International blockbuster from France. The director could not make that magic after that. Fifth Element is still the highest grossing foreign film in the US, I believe.

In 1990s and 2000s, maybe this would've worked out but Shankar has to update his mindset and adapt to future. Gentlemen/Indian/Anniyan were the pinnacle in story telling... Bro, my 2 cents, it all involves the budget of the movie (80%) and the mindframe (20%), not mindsets. Cinema is business, more than that it a place where ballant money laundering happens. Sankar’s biggest problem happens when the budgets got bigger & bigger and so did cost of production of movies due to inflation. There is no question of breaking even in that kind budgets as even a bank FD will make 7-8%. Profit is guaranteed only when people go the cinemas in trucks&droves for that to happen all the people from the lower echelons and lower satra have to participate. For doing that the a director’s job is to cater the needs of the lower echelons’s vision, I don’t blame those guys (I was part of them too). In that process of getting more footfalls one needs to keep the script as simple as possible, Shankar is a sophisticated person his mind is capable of handling complex things and he has the ability to make sophisticated movies but the business here is to sell a timex watch and not a Rolex. He is doing it perfectly, but for some people with a little higher IQ his movies might suck a little. It’s the same story with GVM, Mani sir etc These Directors are far ahead of their time, their Craft is excellent but the cinema as business is tearing their vision apart. A guy like Anurag Kyshap (My favourite) can never do a movie like Endiran and become Rich like Shankar in doing so. Anurag might be educated but Shankar is intelligent. All the very best!!

Director Shankar ku eppavume oru top team amaithidum. Top Hero,Music Director, writer ,cinematographer, producer. Aver ippothaa konjom comfort zone le renthu veliyariukkaru. Hopefully he make a real come back,rather complain audience, industry changes, like Lingusamy,Hari. Atlee Following Shankars footsteps also,so far even he copied here and there,the movie he make can be enjoyed through end. @@user-zp5wb2wl9c I agree that I movie flopped. But they are very talented writers. Subha's Ethirkatru novel was first remade in Malayalam in the name Artham. (1989 movie) It was a classic and blockbuster movie. After reading this novel screenplay writer Venu Nagavalli suggested director Sathyan Anthikkad to acquire copyrights to make this movie. And the rest was history. K.V. Anand - Subha combo made many blockbusters including Kana Kandein, Ayan, Ko, Maatraan, Anegan etc. He collaborated with Pattukottai Prabhakar to make Kaapaan. Jayam Ravi's brother M. Raja collaborated with Subha to make a classic blockbuster crime thriller Thani Oruvan. Which made waves in Tamil film industry.

In today's world, there have been many movies covering the concept of corruption in the system ever since Gentleman, Indian and Anniyan were released . Not sure if the audience will digest the same template again. Doubtful of this film being a success.

2.0 failure main reason - Rajini sir could not do so much stunts after half movie done. Then he told shankar to cancel the movie and he will give the money for compensation. But shankar point of view: already we announced a movie and half shooted ,then we cancel means it would damage our name .,so he made many changes in the script and give more weightage to Akshay Kumar. If you see the movie rajini sir didn't do such big things. But it damaged shankar sir name and career. Ask anyone of the assistant directors in 2.0 they will the truth.

Downfall of most of the Indian directors is because of bad creative decisions they take in their movies. Incase of Shankar, lot of the money goes into making the songs, vfx and big hero fees, the final outcome is the big budget movie where money is wasted at unwanted places in the name of 'brammandam (Larger than life).

Shankar has lost his sheen after Sujatha’s demise .he shld stop working with writers like jayamohan.even Indian 2 looks like super flop film just from the trailers .heard he has taken Karthick suburaj’s story for game changer .hope that will be a hit and bring him back

He is an artist and his direction is a art, h egave his best, but How people can expect his art to be with their expectations....

Indian 2 timeline does not need to match the current year-2024. It could just be that Indian-2 happens just a few years after the events of Indian-1. So Indhian Thatha could just be a couple of years older than his version in Indian-1.

Yes, Shankar sir and atlee have best vision, but the problem is they don't have good writers to convey it,though atlee copies scene,his screenplay will be engaging,even rajamouli follows that, his vision is great but copies scene like in bahubali many scenes were copied from Hollywood but those were accepted by people and he never follows logic but that what makes the scene engaging and entertaining,many directors follow this making so I think no wrong in that and his father vijayendra Prasad is biggest backbone like sujatha for Shankar.

I dont have any idea about cinema but a thing that i noticed from his recent movies is the graphics and the vfx or anything that you could call it its something like you have increased the brightness and the saturation. You see enthiran 2.0 looks similar to indian 2 or maybe its the same production team its not realistic unlike his previous old movies

The very fact that Vivek & Nedumudi Venu (who passed away 3 years ago) are part of this film shows the age of the film and how delayed it has been.

He is outdated without any creativity, still dwells in 90s thinking that his grandfather times stories will run now...

it's so sad that once upon a time a legendary director who entertained all over country with extraordinary films,is now being trolled,all he needs is good writer😭 missing vintage Shankar...

Without Sujatha he is nothing. He should have hired good sreen play & Dialogue writers like Madhan Karky to fill the place of Sujatha and talented new comers for Assistant Director. Without a better Crew he became Jatti from Chitti. Indian - 2 is another disaster even before we watch the movie.

Sujatha is the key of success of Shankar.

I think another reason is more directors are now knowledgeable with VFX and new ideas than Shankar right now . Back in the days, Shankar was the one leading the idea of VFX but now with directors like Rajamouli, Nag Ashwin, Lokesh Kanagaraj, etc. There’s more VFX scenes that are better than Shankar’s execution. Also some of his movies doesn’t age well like Gentleman, Kadhalan, Boys and Anniyan. Plenty of scenes in those movies are questionable in this days scenario. I also think he should have worked with other actors than working back with Rajini in 2.0 & Kamal in Indian 2.
