To be fair, TIFF and I think some newer versions of JPEG allow most (but not all) kinds of Photoshop layers. But yes in general this is 100% right.
As a real amateur... Probably the first thing I learned with Phlearn... Layers and psd... Thx

Why don't save files as TIFF?s instead? It seems to be more compatible with many applications and saves all Photoshop's layers, also makes files compatible with Lrc and many other applications. You can meet LrC tutorials, where TIFF's are advised as the best practice.
Basic stuff, but very important. Learn to delete image info you don’t need, though. Wish someone could figure out how to store massive files better.
@Aaron ... can you show your folders in the computer? I find Apple to be so difficult to organize.

Interesting. I've always saved them as tif files, and never had an issue with layers. What am I missing?

TIFF file is a good option as well. The main different is that TIFF files will be larger in size than PSDs
