not really info. just when i started to enjoy the game less. it was around the time when they added the washing machine but it was much further down the update path that i stoped playing it. But im still looking forward to seeing what they make if they make enything new

Islands was my first game which i played on roblox i will miss this game so much

I used to play islands 24/7 and i made alot of core memories bit the reason why i left is i guess that it started to feel overwhelming from all the updates, and after a while i felt as if the updates were pointless and when they updated the main islands i found it hard to adapt to it, I spent 40% of my time just looking for the portal. Islands will always be a core memory of mine, remember chilling in the first main hub listening to the og music. Counting down the time to the Kong Event or checking out the new mailbox update or checking out their new game "bedwars"

I agree with you, I used to play islands 24/7 but nowadays it extremely hard to keep up with the economy, also I think the down fall started from the Jan 2021 wipe.

Same, used to play it all the time! I didn't get overwhelmed by the crazy updates back then, but what really put me off was the lack of user-accessible content over the later months and the last year of it's lifespan. Still going strong though, if only they could rework their code to prevent memory leaks...

what put me off islands was the insane powercreep of weapons that needed long time to grind, then suddenly nerfing all of them. Like static scepter where it was so trash before, but gotten buffed so hard during halloween 2023 that people splurged 250m into it. Right after halloween, the devs changed scepter to become similar to speelbook, shooting projectiles instead of rays, causing people to waste their millions

This game was one of my favorites in 2020, and its so sad to see it become another game that gets left to rot, i came back to the game very recently and started a new islands with my friends and the game is so different. The hub island is way bigger than i remember it being, most islands dont look anything like they used to, except for slime island, and everything is based off a forced progression system due to the leveling system. I will always remember spending 5 hours in the lake getting the aquamrine for the spellbook even if it was painful

Same, I remember fishing in the lake trying to get some propellers for washing stations while talking with my old buddies. So many memories that’s I will never forget.

Islands or should I say, skyblox or skyblock was my go to roblox game back then. Sad they stopped updating. Also there's a game called "Islands Archive" and it perfectly replicates how the OG islands looks like. I'll personally grind the game again because the original island is in shambles with how inflated the price is for everything and since the OG island is much much simpler.

it also constantly lags every time and kicks you out in mobile devices

This game was very close to my heart and a very huge part of my life so far between th playz and dv playz inspiring to start my own channel this game was amazing i miss the updates already and miss og islands on top of it

Hopefully in the future, a new islands comes out and they find a way to prevent duping in all ways. Even if it may be be hard to code. I’d rather it take them years to make a better version over one that comes out tommorow with a lot of problems

Amazing video, brings me back to the old days of islands. The game got me through the pandemic when I was just a little kid, and I still am, but it still holds a special spot in my heart. it’s sad this game is over it will always hold a special place in my heart the reason it fell off for me was there was so many farms that made getting coins easy making the economy really bad and dupers because islands had to wipe everyone’s inventory at one point so like 60 percent of people left also they made bedwars so I don’t think as many people where focusing on islands and it had to many updates you may think that’s a good thing but it just made the game more confusing so for some people like dv mentioned the game got kinda complicated and lost its simplicity what it used to have anyways as I said islands will always hold a special place in my heart this is just my opinion if you don’t agree that’s okay I hope you guys still enjoy island’s/ won’t forgot it like me if you read all this god bless you

I played this game with my family but it soon got to complicated and confusing for us

I loved Island I still play it time to time but the most I remember playing was building a base, the Halloween 2022 and 23 event and when the underworld I think is called, I spent 3 days, probably 6 hours in each day to get all fragments

I played the game a few months after launch and was an active player until the mastery update. The game went from fun grinding to grinding for the sake of grinding for me.I tried to keep playing but at some point it was just to boring for me.

Be honest, this roblox game gives nostalgia when we were new smelting irons on the smelter cuz we were too poor to buy industrial smelter..

as an og of islands who even has an account named after one of the rare items, i quit long time ago and it was simply because of the grindiness of the game cuz many items on other people's shops seemed overpriced, like my dream item i wanted to get increased the price of it BY ALMOST 10X. and thanks to this video i know about the inventory wipe

I saw friend come and go. Many factors took place. Bed Wars also had an impact on many of my friends leaving islands to play that popular game. Also I agree with other people on here about making items harder to make, and limited items harder to grind. I actually appreciated players that duplicated items. They made it easy for us to get cheaper items at shops.

The economy changes were too crazy, it went from industrial to washing machine being 800k to now 130m.

right now trophies are unbuyable coz vending cap is 1b. Im a weapon and trophy collector and the only ones im missing is mushroom trophy, halloween 2023, gold fish, dao, cursed grimoire and cursed hammer. I rlly want to just collect those items and start a new co op with my friends, but with only 1b coins, i doubt i can get any of them lol. I wish there is a way i can get them...

island has alway hold a special place in my heart,i remember when it still called sky block,back then the game was simple and fun but then slowly after bed war came out everything just went down from there,the game start to become more grindy and unfun

Long story short was they dug their own grave and refused to fix it, they saw bedwars are more profitable = more money for than and last idk how true this is but I heard it from DV but allegedly the coding for islands is archaic especially for modern Roblox games which made it take more time for updates

Thankyou! Thank you so much! 1.) The trick to good editing is dedicating a lot of your time into one video. Because the longer you spend editing a video the more you will get done. 2.) Also, have a positive mindset, this is crucial for good editing. 3.) It's your video, everyone has their own editing styles. Don't copy others, as it will not be as fun to edit in the future because of boredness, meaning you will burn out.

Another big issue with the game was the rng. Not many people wanted to spend hours just to have a slim chance of getting their desired item.

To be completely honest I haven't seen a video edited this good in a while. As an Islands player you don't see many videos about the game So it's nice to see some. It was overall a really good vid Really good explanation about how it happened, other peoples clips, and the updates. I have been playing since 2020 It was a really good game with a bunch of potential but. Keep up the good work really good video and I have a feeling you will end up with thousands maybe millions of subscribers. Good Job.

I used to play island last years, everyday I had to work hard, and I collected trophies and blocks and new benches and industries and swords until now I have quitted the game so sad and my heart is breaking since I missed to play this game with my brothers, my reason for quitting that my inventory is little poor, and I have small budget of money in the game, and then till now all items are costs 500K - 1B and like I have quitted the game once I had been busy for months later I come back to the game and I cant afford to buy anything so Im feeling bad to work hard again, so the reason I dont play the game to much because the weekly updates made all item to much cost and my budget is 440M cuz I sold all my inventory but still have more good stuff and I saved other stuff costs 100M and 1B in other alt account and I am trying to remember which account cuz I need to take them now and sell it so I can get richer Keep it up good work!

Honestly, the duping made me quit the game. While i was grinding wizards, i found a tidal spellbook blueprint and was shocked. For the next 2 days, all I played was islands. I was so happy to get the tidal spellbook because of its value, which was extremely high at the time of release, but nowadays, the dupers shredded its value to it now only being around less than 400k. I felt as if my time would have been better spent doing something else.

Fr. Another thing that made me so mad was the removal of cactus spike bp in crafting it. I grinded like 4 months for cactus spike bp and used it so i could craft it. But then islands decided to make cactus spike dont require bp. I technically wasted my time

I started playing only 2 days after it was realeased. Everyday after school i would play islands and grind, i even got the big fish trophy. I loved to play minigames on my island and give away all my money .❤😢 i will miss you "Skyblock".

This is a life lesson actually because you work so hard for something and you can loose it in the future but you just don't know when it will come and that's what happened to islands

i remember when the first big wipe happened, i had almost 400 billion coins and was one of the richest than i logged on and found i had 426k coins and no inventory and as compensation i got a golden portal instead of purple

yeah the game fell long ago when the devs wiped everyone that was the catalyst for the end of islands after that the game slowly started to fall apart over time now the game is basically dead rip islands!

Islands not updating is really tearing it down. The player base dropped to around 3-4k and the economy is bonkers. I took a 6 month break and i came back to see stuff costing 100b. It's sad to see that back then everything costed thousands or millions at most to now cost billions as if it were thousands

personally i stopped playing because they just kept reworking stuff. they completely redid the hub like 3 times and all the mob islands too. i love the game how it was and they just kept changing stuff. its a thing i see a lot with games of its kind. you love them how they are and they just keep majorly changing stuff instead of just adding new content but yeah i love this game i will never forget grinding for starfruit seeds with my friends, breeding flowers, making pixel art, grinding for spell books and diamonds, anyway yeah it will always hold a special place in my heart i wish they just left things how they were (also i really hate bedwars)

I don't think people realize that islands is based off a much larger game, hypixel skyblock. It's the original game on hypixel and gets 30k players daily.

W vid. But the downfall of islands didn't start with dupes, or dupes weren't even the problem. It was just a part of the problem. The true problem was coding. There was old devs that had left the islands developer team. And this made it really hard for the new devs to code with the old.

the funny thing is that i was one of the first players who started duping i was using migrating data method and i duped shitttt toon of treasure chests and diamond mine portals which made me quite rich when the economy was stable bc no one knew the method and i never got inventory wiped ^^

Honestly i loved the game I would try to get every weapon but then I waited for the new Halloween and Christmas event to see if they brought back snowball battles because I loved to play it in my time in Texas but I was left hopeless after hearing it would never update again

I didn't know there was an inventory wipe, I literally had island's first anniversary cake, other rare items ans stuff. and now it just goes down the drain like that.

How are dupers still alive? i thought they dont dupe anymore because the game patched it and also the prices on shops were 100x lower like 7 months ago

Islands is Not a Bad Game Its Just How They were So Scared About Not updating In a Week That Started To leave people Feeling bored this is what The devs should do: Make a New Game similar To Islands Make it Simple But Fun Dont Make It So Hard For New Players To Just get some items Make The Dupes And Everything strong To not use.

The only reason I stopped playing is because it’s so complicated and hard and when mastery came out I was extremely mad because I couldn’t do anything without needing a mastery and everything was way too expensive

The game was good, the devs just sucked at understanding what the players wanted

Three things that also contributed to the decline: 1. The name change The game used to be called "Skyblock", but then they faced copyright issues that ended up in the game shutting down. They brought it back as "Islands", but half of the playerbase had already left and moved on from the game. 2. Dupers Getting Paid for this The reason why Dupers are persistent and won't stop is because it would get them views on KZread and generate them ad revenue, which they didn't want to give up, so they kept duping and finding ways around patches. 3. Devs struggling to go through the code The game's code made originally has been passed down to more developers. Overtime, the code got more complicated, and the devs are afraid to to make updates too big because it will likely ruin the code. I myself have dealt with some coding myself, but certainly not at the scale Islands or most games you know of have. Just in the small creations I've made it's very easy to get mixed up and lose track of your code, but for the devs it's even more code, and the different devs mean that they have to navigate and try to understand code they didn't make in the first place. Because of all this, the devs are very limited in terms of making large updates.

Especially just to craft a workbench tier 4 it’s was annoying having to keep the game running, since it took mad long to get red bronze.

another resion tht islands 'floped' or isent as popular anymore is because of how over complicated they made it. i still remember the good old day when t fst came out i was a yutuber playing t and despret t get a free version of Minecraft skyblox i started playing it and i really enjoyed it but now i've stoped playing completely since its just to over complicated and hard to play now i just play Minecraft education edition with my school account a better way to play free minecraft

1st of all... great video but the text sound effect is louder then your voice so you might want to speak up. 2nd of all... actually the dupers got islands a bigger fan base then it already had, at some point islands used to avarage 120k players a day but when they did the level update when you needed to be a certain level to buy or craft something, thats when they lost about a 100k players.

The dupers still destroyed the economy either way, making the player base fall because there inventories got wiped. Without the dupers the wipe wouldn’t exist.

Either way there are multiple ways the game has died but why do you think levels were added to the game, well they were mainly added to slow down dupers since they wouldn’t be able to sell to early in the game and they would actually have to grind the game to get the levels to then start selling

I already explained this in other comments but it was because I wanted to test something new but turned out to be a mistake, but since the clips were already rendered in my editing program so I couldn’t just undo them. So I decided to just make the video and learn from my mistakes for my next video. So now what I do is edit a chapter or a section of the video and I can render it from there, so that way I can put all the main rendered clips in a different project in my editing program and it works well. So whenever I don’t like something I can just go back to it and change it up. I know this sounds confusing but just wanted to let you know why the video was how it was. Thank for the feedback as I will no do this anymore in future videos.

Yo empecé a jugar desde el 2020 y desde que conocí island me engancho desde un principio, y lo guardaré como uno de mis juegos que más tiempo y cariño le tendre ay conocí a mi grupo de amigos que ahora tengo, todos nos reuníamos entre semana para jugar hasta la madrugada jugando juntos ayudándonos en cada actualizacion que abia, todo lo que salía despues de unas pocas semanas lo teníamos y nos divertimos mucho, ya ahora no entro y mis amigos empezaron en otros juegos diferentes, seguíamos ablandonos pero extraño mucho ver como pasaba el tiempo y esperar la hora que por fin estaba libre para estar jugando y ablando por horas. Sin duda alguna este sera el juego que más atesorare como el juego que me hizo pasar por muchos momentos buenos. Si alguen tiene alguna experiencia, la que sea cuentala que estare gustoso de leerla.
