To me Drake has been held back by two things not only as an artist but as a person: 1 his inability to take criticism in stride without seeing it as an attack on him personally and two his inability to move on/his persistence to hold grudges.

Most girls like being showered with sweet nothings but not all women do. A good many hate compliments and feel embarrassed off it, especially when you start pushing the agenda of them being a goddess (because now the question is why are you putting them up on a pedestal. What do you really want from them?). Go back to Rocky and you'll see in all his interviews where he talks about Rihanna, it's almost diminishing in a fun way. Gives her a pass saying she's the homie. Says he can't see himself with Rihanna because she acts too much like one of the boys. Literally in all aspects of the conversation, friend zoning her. Now was this for real or was it just a game. Well they have kids now, but you could argue that when Rihanna witnessed this attitude he had towards her, he kept his real feelings private from the media. He didn't do it for clout, he didn't have an agenda, he ddidn't praise her with flowers, songs and all the things most other women wanted. That's what I would think is the reason why she was so cold to him in public.
