I think they should have comp'd the entire transaction AND given you some kind of accommodation for your next rental.
@maryfaith936

That is exactly what i was thinking. WE use Enterprise and we have had to have an upgrade and they did not charge us for that. I agree.. they should get a free rental for the next time.
An upgrade that WASN’T an upgrade!! Glad they reached out to you. All they did was refund what they OVER charged you. Nothing for the hassle of THEIR mistakes!!! And the VERY uncomfortable ride in that small Jeep! 😡 You are too kind I recommend you find another rental company. They obviously don’t care about having you continue renting from them. Take you business/money to a company more dependable. This company seems unreliable.

My boyfriend owns that jeep and I am a small person...still uncomfortable! I swear he bought it so I will never borrow it
Really Budget? Really? You should have completely refunded all the money and comped them a future rental. Wow, I'd think twice before I'd rent from you. I just rented twice from Enterprise. (My car can't leave town, it's ill. Lol) Both smooth rentals. At two different locations. The gal here at my local Enterprise was super sweet. She even gave me a mini van for the price of the compact car I paid for online. So glad you got the extra charges back.
The power of social media!!!! I love it!!! And don talk them up too much, they haven't really done anything that shouldn't have happened in the first place!!! Next time Tony, leave it to Jenny!!! 👍👍👍
Basically, an upgrade requested by the customer is an upgrade. An upgrade as substituted by a business, and NOT requested by the customer shall be a Gift.
A good business would have refunded the total cost of the rental.

Either that or at least offered some sort of good will gesture of a % of amount paid or money off next rental
I'm glad Budget reached out and you get your upcharge back however my personal opinion is they screwed up big time and the level of customer service was so bad they should have had a much better apology and refunded you the whole amount. If it was me I would never use them again ever.
Budget did the bare minimum. Doesn't make me want to rent from them. 👎🏼
I hope Budget reads the comments and realizes that they should have done more.

@@dogcat823 they reserved a better car than the one they were forced into taking. That's not entitlement -that's common sense and good business.
Maybe it’s the New York girl in me, but I really think #1 Budget had a lot of nerve asking you to post a video taking back what you and your fans found to be poor customer service. #2 had I been in charge at corporate I would have not only reached out to you with my deepest apologies, you also would have been given a FULL refund. I also would have assured you if you were kind enough to continue business with us, you would definitely see improvements at your location in the future. Tony you’re a SAINT. ❤️🚢
Oh Jenny, you have become a true Southerner. You told Tony he is never “ugly” to anyone. You know how to use “ugly” the way Southerners use it. I’m impressed. By the way, I love your New York accent, and I love watching the true love you and Tony share.
They should of paid you the difference in fuel as well
Well done to Budget! We got to Amsterdam last year after a river cruise, and Hertz didn’t have our ‘economy’ car ready, so instead offered us a FREE upgrade to a Diesel Jaguar SUV!!! Hell yeah!!!! Thanks Hertz!! (In my best Ahnold voice) “We’ll be back!”
I am underwhelmed by Budget’s email to you!! I think they only gave you a partial refund so you’d make another video to let everyone know that they tried to give you some $$$ back. All in all - you had a safe trip down to FL (and due to Dorian I think you headed straight back to NC - no stops to visit family - completely understand that)! Just glad you are both still married to each other (only kidding)! Yep, let Jenny make the reservations from now on!! She is very pleasant to deal with (I know) & Tony, I do appreciate that you are always polite & a gentleman - I’ve seen that from all of your videos - you are always polite on cruises & remember to say please & thank you!! That truly is a positive asset these days & shows your true character 👍🏼❤️‼️
Went to Honduras with four of my buds...THEY RENTED a new Toyota 2Wd 4Runner...I was the only person speaking Spanish, and we got there and it was a 4wd Mitsubishi Montero diésel manual driving in Honduras. What a trip! We had a flat at the botanical garden in Tela and I used my Spanish to get a tire wrench so we could get back and found a llanta station to fix it!
I'm totally with you on each aspect of your decision to rent. On the other hand, Budget only took minor action, when the situation was brought to their attention by the public. No internal controls or timely reporting. That's what corporate Budget is about. Not every person renting from Budget has your backing, resources, and visibility.
Everyone thinks we are crazy for driving from TN to FL to cruise, but it works for us. #1- we do not like to fly, #2- I pack too much luggage, #3- we do back to back cruises while we are down to make it worth the trip, #4- we like having our car to run around in and to store noncruise luggage as you guys do. We have found a hotel in Ft. Lauderdale- the Fairfield Inn that allows up to 30 days free parking, hotel stay with breakfast, and RT to the cruise port. It is around $180 with tax in the fall. Everyone has to do what makes sense to them.
So Funny. We have had this happen so many times at Budget, and one time they gave us a Jeep that was a dog! In truth though they have generally really treated us well. Gave us a New Dodge Charger, a Lincoln SUV, Subaru SUV that was great, and a Van when we needed extra space because they didn't have our reserved car for no additional charge. Still irritating that they don't have your "RESERVED" car that was already paid for. We drive from Michigan to ports Miami (23hr), Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Mobile, Boston, and Seattle ( 4 day) so far. Renting a car is the only way to go when putting on so many miles, and weekly rates can be very cheap from our local airport. Don't add an extra day that isn't part of a full week or they will beat you up though.
1st off...Jenny you look gorgeous in this video lady.... I’m sooo happy Budget reached out and the Loco Fam sent them the video!!! I was HOT watching the 1st video in HOT ATL. My husband was wondering what was going on with me 😂😂...
I think the logic of your renting cars makes total sense! Whatever works out to the best price! Thanks for the update 👍
Obviously Budget doesn't value their customers. Even the response from corporate was poor. Yes, you got a response, but seems like all they wanted was you to say something positive about them...NOTHING positive about that whole situation. ENTERPRISE! Go to ENTERPRISE!

Agree totally
I think whether or not I agree with your opinion on the response from Budget, you presented a factual account of what happened, you didn’t speak inappropriately of your experience, yet you summarized the fact and clearly laid out what your final thoughts were so others can make an educated decision. I respect that, thank you. 😀
Really enjoy you two's banter!
Another good video y’all. Thanks for the update
I completely understand your reasons for renting. We do the same for long tripsb same reasons.
You both are wonderful. Always look forward to your videos. This video just shows who nice you both are. Be awesome Tony and Jenny.
Great logic on using rentals!
Tony, you are very fair and balanced in the way you conduct yourself and it's rewarding to know that you have reaped the dividends of being civil and honest. After all, we all love a Happy Ending!
My husband and I have the same opinion on the car situation. We have paid off cars with high mileage and we always rent a car when we travel like this.
Great attitude to have Tony. Glad they fixed their mistake. Hopefully the next trip will be easy sailing!
1. We drive from Ohio for our Florida cruises because a) money saved from flying is spent on cruise excursions, b) we have family in Florida and it’s easier if you have transport, and c) we can carry more stuff that we’d have to pay to have checked on a plane. 2. Glad Budget did something for you! Maybe next time we’ll rent a car for our Florida drive. Luckily, our SUV is newer and has survived six 2-3k round trip road trips so far.
It all makes sense to me , don’t ever feel bad about flying . We all can’t look or be the same this world would be boring , but Jenny you got to quit smoking . I did it and feel so much better , but it’s hard for shur. But one day at a time . Thanks for the videos I just found you guys and I’m a fan now . Hope to see you guys on a cruise some day. 🤗
Good for you Tony. I think you were quite reasonable and good on you for accentuating the positive. And good on Budget for reaching out
Totally agree. Budget should have given a full credit to you. That would have been a good gesture and positive customer care, especially that the Jeep was actually a downgrade from any other vehicle no matter what it was.
I’m glad they gave you something back.
You both have a wonderful “good cop, bad cop relationship”!!! My wife and I have the same. I send her in first and by the time she is through with them, they are happy to see me😀! Good info on car rental savings! Thanks.
OMG thank you for answering these burning questions!? lol, no seriously I was wondering. Jenny, I need to know your makeup tricks! :)
Great news! Sometimes you just have to go above the local locations, because they don't always know the best way to handle these unusual situations. Glad Budget did the right thing.
Glad to see you got a little bit back even though the vehicle wasn't the one you had pre-paid for. I like to see that they at the very least listened to you and made an effort to make it right (or at least better). Your reasons for renting a car make a lot of sense; always gotta compare end-prices and risks with getting to that cruise port city and what you are going to do once you get there! Thank you for your excellent cruise content, Tony and Jenny!! ❤️
I think you stated you point very well, in saying that you were not happy with the service but appreciated the refund of the unwarranted upgrade fee. You point of not wanting to drive your older cars a long distance is also very wise.
Totally agree with you guys about the driving and the renting a car thing. I always make an adventure out of the travel to and from the cruise. I love a good road trip! I think it's great that Budget reached out to you with what they did! It would've been worse if they did nothing...since you guys rent from them a lot.
I still want a GIF of Jenny’s feelings about that Jeep!🤪
Glad to hear this ended on a positive note. That being knowing your fan base cares. We rent on long trips for many of the same reasons you do. It is a solid strategy. IMHO.
Happy to hear that it all came around in the end :)
Happy wife, happy life. Great video. I’m glad everything worked out for you and Jenny. I’m like you Tony and the older I get the less driving I want to do. I truly understand your situation and the options you choose. Thanks for being open with us. It gives a wonderful perspective and is very helpful in my decision making process. Life isn’t fair and I lean towards being kind and respectful. Yes I get taken advantage of sometimes, however, life seems to take care of Tiff and I more often than not. Thanks again for taking the time to produce great content. I’m sure we’ll meet someday. Cheers
I am glad that Budget reached out - the least they could do. My hubby had same question about driving your own vehicle so I will send him this update video. All’s wellthat ends....sort of well...
Kudos to those who had Tony and Jenny's back on this car rental fiasco. Well done. My hubby and I use to rent cars all the time for vacations as we did not want to add wear and tear on our own vehicles and we were considering these as test drives to see if there was a car we would be interested in purchasing in the next year or so. We are renting a car in Florida as well for our next cruise. We are arriving 3 days before our cruise and like you guys we have family that live on the west side of Florida that we want to go visit. I never thought of it before but somewhere I had heard a suggestion of taking photos of the vehicle before leaving the lot. Good idea?! Thanks for the update guys and La Lido Loca Cruising ROCKS!!
I think they should have given you a complete refund and $ off on your next rental--that would be good customer service.

I agree. Refunding the whole amount would be difficult but at least some extra cash back over and above the overcharge would be a proper apology
We live in the mountains of Colorado, even the "Jeep owners" trailer their Jeeps up here for the trails. Glad everything worked out in the long run.
Smart to rent a car.♥️ Good advice Tony and Jenny
They new how to take the reservation, but they did not know how to hold the reservation, and that’s really the most important part, anybody can just take them. Love that Seinfeld bit. I have remember that scene when I find myself in similar travel situations. I have rented from National many times and have had nothing but first class experience. It might cost a few dollars more, but every time the price I was promised was the price I paid with no additional fees.
Thanks for explaining why you rent a car. We had a toyota sienna "mommy" van that had 289,000 miles and an old truck. They were both paid off. Of course they finally died within a year of each other. Going from 0 car payments to 2 car payments (in the words of the great philosopher Jenny) "it sucks!" so we COMPLETELY understand. : )
Maybe try Enterprise like their ads say "we'll pick you up" so Jenny wouldn't have to drop you off and they would have the car you want.
@melinphx1

bill carrol Yes, and Enterprise is another rental company that doesn’t charge an additional driver fee for a spouse!
Glad it worked out for you guys😊
Love the info in this video! Coming from MN it's never worth it to drive, but I have a five day cruise next year and amd considering driving and making a road trip out of it, too.
Absolutely great video. Tony seriously I adore calm people like you working in the customer service business your type of personality is literally a good send of our day. For myself I feel like I am a total jennie or I guess a woman we are more outspoken and tend to get in our feelings when we are not treated right. For me personally I literally cannot stand myself when I am the customer. Seeing this really makes me think twice and be calmer when talking to customer service in any business now. I totally feel their pain. Jennie you are hilarious in that video I give you total props for not cussing. I loved it. I totally felt your pain but you are a super classy lady. When I get a new Yorker or New Jersey customer that is a lady I know they mean business I am intimidated by yous. Shhh... dont tell no one 😂🤗
Wow 12 hours in a car prior to cruise! I think the reasons you have are logical and logistically viable guys!!! We live in Brisbane Australia and all the big cruise lines depart from Sydney (12 hour drive). Our family drives to as it is financially viable. Great wo r k once again..
Hi Tony, hi Jenny! New follower! Love your vids! Just want to comment about your jeep situation. I have over 20 years in customer service working in restaurants. I'm one of those old school people who believes in customers are always right ( to a degree). The way it works is, it is up to the business who are making money off of you ( if they want you to continue to return, it is in their best interest) to make you happy with the best customer service possible. Sure, things unforseen do happen but it is not the customers fault. You have paid money already for a service. It does not hurt a business to compensate you for their "poor service". Not sure how it is in America but usually, alot of the unforseen things if they choose to compensate you can be used as a tax right off, ecpecially in a restaurant. So, again, it will not hurt them to give you something for your troubles. There are many passive people out there who choose to let things go and let the business get away with bad customer service, that is not fair to those who want and have a right to complain. These businesses know this and take advantage of the customer and that is wrong. That is what Jenny is saying, "fair" customer service. Treat your customers well and they will keep coming back. If you do what Budget did, I wouldn't come back. Regardless of the email ( it seemed as though they were just trying to cover their butts from a bad review) by offering you to remove charges that they shouldn"t have charged you anyway as if it were partly your fault instead of taking the full blame. That is great customer service, take full responsibilty with no excuses. Businesses like to make excuses so they don"t have to pay. I also understand you Tony by trying to be calm, I"m normally a bit ticked off like Jenny but that doesn"t work, being angry gets you nowhere. Its sad that you had to deal with it but on the possitive side, it looks like you and Jenny had an amazing time creating wonderful memories and now you have an adventure story to tell.
I watch on my smart TV so do not comment very often, but love your videos! Keep at it! I know it was another video but thank you for sharing your updates on getting healthy. I’m about to get serious and do the same, have upcoming cruise on the NCL Escape. Have you ever tried smoothies as a meal replacement? I like to make them with spinach, fruit, protein powder, ice and almond milk in a nutribullet- quick, easy, nutritious and delicious. Thank you for sharing Jenny and Tony!
I love your videos; you are a kind, sweet couple. May I say, you don’t owe anyone any explanations as to why you travel to your cruises any way you want. It’s entirely your business. That said, thank you. I, like a lot of other people it seems, will go anywhere but budget should I want or need a rental.
When we cruise DCL we rent a car to get to Port Canaveral from MCO airport. It is cheaper to rent and pay for parking then take DCL bus to/from. Plus we have people that get motion sick and a bus is even worse. So this works for us, and renting a car works for you. Cool!
You both are pretty great at doing videos.
Thanks for sharing this, Tony. It makes you appreciate how good the cruise lines are when you see such a weak response from Budget. Sorry Budget, just making someone whole is not enough - Budget didn't even do anything as a way of an apology. They had the opportunity to make a statement that would have fostered so much good will but what they did was the absolute LEAST they could have done. I've had similar problems with Budget and nothing here would encourage me to ever use them again! You're very smart to rent a car but it's time to find another car rental place!
My car is a 2002. I love buying older cars but you never know what is ready to be replaced on them (timing belt, things that cause mucho bucks) but am considering leasing a car once my Big Red bites the dust. I would definitely drive a leased car. But a rental only if you get a comfortable roomy high tech car! Awesome awesome
I totally get renting the car. I have to drive sometimes for work and I will get a rental car. Now for work, we are not charged the additional one-way drop off fee because of our work contract. But I have done that for personal use and the fee was about $100 to drop off the rental car at the airport. Very Expensive! I had the same experience with a rental co. not having my reserved car onsite, not with Budget, and they offered me another option which was more but they did the right thing and I wasn't charged any additional fees and this was for personal use. Budget did good by correcting this.
Keeping paid off cars is so Smart!! I do it too😀❤️🥰🤗
To tie it into your weight loss journey, pretty soon you won't have to worry about seat belt extenders or airline seats that are too small. Losing weight is not the magical cure for life's problems but it can so much less stressful when you don't have to be anxious about flying due to your size anymore. Congrats on your continued weight loss and good health!
I wondered why you didn't drive your own vehicle..... now I know! Great thinking guys! Love following your channel. MickieG Adelaide Sth Australia
Jenny is right, Budget should have treated you better right at the get go! Jenny is really lucky that she has such a kind and respectful man. My husband would have been so angry and probably would have gone over the line.
I'm so glad budget did the right thing.
I’m so happy you got your money back!
Woohoooo!!!!!!! Good news!!
You guys are just so adorable together..... I'm glad things worked out for you with Budget car rentals. MickieG Adelaide Sth Australia
I would be interested to know how your experience would go if you rented from that location again. I’m glad you got some money back.
Glad everything was resolved! However, as a fluffy flyer, you’ve piqued my curiosity for the flying tips you’ve received. Can/will you give more details?
Absolutely the best news, your loca fam took it into their own hands and looked out for ya'all.... and as others have said, Budget should have taken it one step further and have done something above and beyond bringing you back to the total you paid, because let's face it, it still cost you more money to drive a jeep than a car, gas isn't free LOL... but I'm glad that they at least did what they did. Definately look into the flying Southwest as I mentioned last time. And side note, we rent one way car rentals a lot in Florida and they often give great discounts on taking a car from one city to another within the state, so keep that in mind and driving a car from Florida to Charlotte is also cheaper... you could fly down, take a cruise, then rent a car and visit family and drive home to Charlotte if you wanted too. That's why we drove the rental moving truck six hours up to charolotte instead of returning it in Jacksonville after moving down here from Ohio. It saved us $1,000 !!!! Willing to drive six hours to save a thousand dollars LOL.... glad you at least got the extra charges back. Now maybe budget could throw a little love your way and maybe give you a free rental next time you cruise... just sayin.... LOL
You two are like me and my husband, but backwards. He is always the Jenny.🤣❤️
I don't blame you for not wanting a car payment! I retired and moved to Ecuador where I don't need a car! Not having that expense allows me to go on a cruise every year!
glad they reached out and finally gave you good customer service it is sad that it took naming nad shaming for them to do so though. hopefully they will now take more care in all their offices and make sure the computer system works so others don't have to go through this. I would let Jenny do the bookings for a couple of cruises now though Tony :) hugs from down under
Glad Budget made things a bit better by refunding your overpayment. Tony you make great videos and I enjoy them very much. Perhaps you should leave the travel arrangements to Jenny 😉 in the future. Your honesty is so refreshing.
I don’t understand why it took viewers intervening to get them to do something about the complaint, when Jenny had already sent an email ( hadn’t a week passed already?) 🤔. I think it was the video that did the trick to get them to finally respond. I do appreciate hearing about your outcomes. It takes hundreds of positive interactions to undo the one negative that occurred here. Imagine how this interaction with you has potentially affected their future sales? Budget has definitely burned that bridge for us.🔥
Definitely look into Enterprise. I rented in Pittsburgh last June. didn't have a mid size I asked for, they upgraded me to a minivan at no cost.
Tony. Just like you I always show respect when dealing with a difficult situation. I am so happy that Karma came back to you.
Poor Jenny ... if only Tony had manned up and taken the Suburban ... the outcome would have been way better LOL ! Good to hear Budgettried to make it right.
Just paying to park your car of a 7 day cruise was $140 at LA Port. We need to check out the hotel/park/shuttle for next time. Thanks for the info !
Not that you two had to answer to anyone...you're just nice like that, but all of your answers made perfect sense. I would do the same thing. Bravo for the brilliance of you madness methods! 😏 I'm also thrilled that Budgets corporate office handled your overcharge fiasco. Jenny was absolutely right about the differences in the Jeeps. A Cherokee would've possibly been a far better vehicle than a Wrangler...ijs. I enjoy you guys.
We just cruised from Newcastle uk, which is about 300 miles from our home. We stayed at Premier inn ( budget hotel) at the port. ( 2 min walk to cruise terminal). There you can leave your car for free - they just ask for a donation to a local children's charity. 😀
In the last 40 years of travel, I have never rented a car, ever. Not even for business have I bothered renting a car. Now, i'm sort of the queen of ride-sharing, public transportation, etc. but it is easy for me. I'm single and learned a long time ago to travel light and marshal my resources. It's been a hobby to be a navigator and keep memorized maps in my head. (I did that once when traveling with some folks from KY to CA.) Preplanning routes is fun for me--and I don't mean just reading something off Google or Ways. I'm talking about researching taxi routes and costs. Latest traffic and construction conflicts. Mileage, Timestops, etc. For me, it is part of the adventure of traveling. Not everyone can do this for many reasons, not the least is multiple passengers, especially children. Sometimes it is because they don't know, understand, or like public transportation. I have used city- and long-haul buses, subways and trains both local and Amtrak, shuttle services, etc. and cost per person, it saved me money and more importantly aggravation...But it does take both research and confidence in traveling, especially solo. But then, I don't mind giving a Chicago cabbie a tongue lashing if he tries to cheat me since I already knew the proper routing to my destination and the approx fare. Also, being a single female traveling solo, I want the safety of the group. I have no difficulty connecting with others in a group. After a few minutes of quiet observation, one can pick up the vibes and know with whom one can associate and whom one should avoid. I'm glad Budget got their act together, that left a rather bitter taste in my mouth, so I'm with Jenny on this one. BTW: I'm looking forward to FL's Virgin Brightline being completed from Miami to Orlando. That will be sweet.
This was a timely video for me. We had an unexpected change of plans & might have to rent a car for a cruise. I was wondering why it costs almost the same for a one way trip as it does for an entire week. And now I know!
Triple A! Defiantly no car payment is awesome!
Thanks for the update. Still think that I will steer clear of Budget Car Rental.
Do what YOU want and what makes you happy.
That was nice that they refunded the extra costs, but you should have never been charged that to begin with. They still didnt reimburse you for the discomfort you experienced for the entire rental period or the hassle and stress you went through because their computers were down!! Also, what if that extra $300 had been your spending money for your vacation.and you had to give it to Budget?? Not everyone would have had the money to just go ahead and pay them! In my opinion, Budget didn't do enough to make this situation right!! I had this happen to me at Avis after a cruise we went on a couple years ago. They ran out of intermediate cars but the guy was super nice and GAVE ME AN UPGRADE since they didn't have what I pre-paid for. It happened to be a very NICE BMW and the guy was super happy to GIVE it to me because they knew I had pre-paid and somehow they failed to save me a car!!! That is what GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE IS and Budget needs to take that as a lesson!!! I will stop venting now, but if that is the best Budget can do to make this situation right, I will stick with Avis for my rentals. Thank you for the update!!
We just drove 15 year old Chrysler Town & Country with 108k miles on it from Knoxville to New Orleans for our work cruise. It made it with flying colors but I'll have to admit that the idea of it possibly breaking down was in the back of my mind. Just too cheap to shell out the cash for a rental more or less. LOL
I completely understand renting a a car as I have a 2003. I live in a very remote part of the United Statesand it's 3 and 1/2 hours for me to go to a doctor it is an hour and a half to two hours to the closest traffic light. There is one road in one road out. I would rent a car in Jackson hole Wyoming but they want$3,000 for 7 days
Awesome news Tony&Jenny thanks for the update👍🏻 I am glad that they reach out to you, and gave you a partial refund, maybe next time you could try Another company, that will definitely help, and get the car 🚗 that you truly deserve’ keep up the great work’🙌🚢🙌 #locafam 😍😍
I've been in the same place. I had a old 250k+ Saturn that was my daily ride for around town and work, but if I needed to take my daughter to a dance competition on the east coast or we wanted to go a vacation, I'd rent a bigger, nicer and usually much more fuel efficient car that fit our needs.
We cruise Princess and have found that their prices through Princess EZair to fly 1st class are very reasonable. So for larger people the flight can be comfortable, a good experience and fairly cheap. So when checking the airfare prices try the cruise line price after checking directly with the airline and see the difference. I'm not sure about other cruise lines though.
We always drive to the port, but for different reasons: I can take more luggage in the car than if we fly, and we leave the car at a park and Sail hotel and take their shuttle right to the terminal. Never have to wrestle baggage through a parking lot.
Tony, Sound like you've been FIRED!!!! LOL Love you guys!!!!
