Aang got shot by Azula's lightning in the back - his story was the backbone of the show. Zuko (and Iroh) got shot by Azula's lightning in the chest - his story was the heart of the show. Conclusion = Azula is a bully and Aaron Ehasz is a genius!

Wow, this is a GREAT take. I never even thought about it this way.😳😱

- Book 1: Zuko chased after honor. - Book 2: Zuko questioned his honor. - Book 3: Zuko found his own honor.

I like how Zuko started as the Team Rocket of Avatar in Book 1.

I like all of the characters in Avatar but Zuko, tied with Toph are undeniably my favorite characters

My favorite characters in the show are Aang, Zuko and Iroh

The avatar state is too op even for Azula. It's not just Aang she'd have to manipulate it'd be all of the past Avatar's who would be experienced enough to not fall for her lies/don't care (lol). Her lighting is also not quite as fast as Ozai's, she still has to wind hers up until the comet comes combined with losing her sanity. If she were in her right mind like you suggested I'm not certain how quickly she'd be able to produce lighting but I would assume it still wouldn't be as fast as Ozai who did it in 0.5 seconds with a sliver of sun showing 😅

This is a good point, you’re right. And I think Azula would get absolutely wrecked by a mastered Avatar State Aang. She did only get him with her lightning that time because he had his back turned, after all. I just think her unstable mental condition would’ve posed a threat to Aang in some way, whether it was by going after a bystander (like she did to Katara, while fighting Zuko), or by some form of manipulation. She’s insane enough that I could see her pulling on Aang’s heart strings with the intent to make him drop his guard so she can hit him again. And while Aang is powerful at the end of the series, and more mature than he’s ever been, he is still a bit naive, being only 12 years old (mentally, anyway). That said, you’re right about the difference between her and Ozai. To beat Avatar Aang with lightning again, she’d have to sneak him again or make him jump into it, like Zuko.

Honor was the heart of Avatar.

Zuko really did take after Roku(not that he knew it for a long time) and his mother. I always liked the reveal that he was Roku's descendant since it a way it felt like Sozin's line was making it up to Roku's in the end.

Except that makes no sense. Zuko never knew about Roku. Zuko was good because he simply was. The issue with the connection to Roku is that it implies that is whole reason Zuko has good in him. Keep in mind that Azula is also related to Roku and she is pure evil. So it seems self contradicting

Maybe if aang was just an airbender he’d be more relatable but the reality is a lot of guys In real life relate to zuko. In a world where a lot of dudes don’t have a girlfriend and doesn’t have the support system watching zuko always get back up and stand up for himself is very inspiring. And people related with his problems of darkness and feeling shame and anger vs aang who’s just always the good guy.

Was all good till you inferred that Azula could take on Aang in the Avatar state. Ozai is far above Azula in power lvls, Azula would be like a bug to Aang in Avatar state.

I don’t know. That would’ve been too soon. Sure season 2/Book 2 is the start of Zuko’s redemption arc but there were times he was still thinking about chasing after Aang. Plus in the season 2 finale, Azula cased him to relapse into his old ways. Season 3 is the perfect one for Zuko to join Team Avatar cause he fully realized that everything he fought hard to regain isn’t all he hoped and he didn’t feel fulfilled. He also realized that his destiny is to help Aang restore balance

​@@isaiahadams1208 The problem though it kind of leaves Team Avatar wanting a little bit in the first half of Book 3. All they are really doing is waiting for the Eclipse to happen. And apparently forget all about learning firebending. The status quo of the series was only changed when Zuko joins the team

Zuko is NOT the real main character this nonsense has to stop. Zuko was an antagonist for two seasons, and this story wouldn't exist without Aang

Zuko’s character is way, way more complicated than him just being a villain for two seasons. That entire time, he was growing as a person, slowly beginning to realize that the honor he was seeking in serving out his father’s suicide mission was not actually true honor. When he realized his mistakes, he immediately left to join Team Avatar, knowing they would hate him but also knowing that it was what he needed to do to atone for his mistakes and do his part to save the world. Aang has little character development, same with Sokka, Katara, and Toph. Stories are about change. In this sense, Zuko IS the main character and the heart of the show-that’s the point I was making in the video.
