She has, technically, all those “powers” but none of them of any consequence can be exercised by her except on the advice of the Prime Minister. The only thing I can think of, off the top of my head, is to give people of her personal choice to honours under the Royal Victorian Order. She can't even make members of her family Dukes any more if the PM does not approve. The same thing applies for other countries of which she is still the queen: she has to do what she is told by the government.

They are princesses by marriage,, though they are technically princesses, it is not through birth so "Princess" are not their official titles.

@@deklore let me explain it this way - if you (=a person) are a colonel in the army then your wife doesn’t become a colonel-ess after marrying you, unless she’s been in the army and holds the same rank (of a Colonel). This is the same reason that Eugenie and Beatrice’s husbands are not Princes.

I agree. I grew up in northern California in the 70's and 80's. To this day I can't for the life of me figure out why people are obsessed with other human beings that have absolutely no affect with their own lives. Famous people are still just humans. Most of them just happen to have a specialized talent. So do wood carvers but they're not stalked by paparazzi.

I went watching "The Crown" series on Netflix. Although it's a fictional piece based on true history, it shows clearly how the crown is NOT a privilege, but instead, it's a duty, not to say a burden. And this is so logical and plausible, just a quick research brings multiple kings of the past expressing this feeling of extreme pressure and exhaustion. In short: if you marry royalty, prepare to deal with it. Now the new generations are so weak they don't follow the rules, don't take responsibility, they want things their way, and the world to change to conform to their expectations. I hope our grandchildren will be stronger and wiser.

You need empathy because that's what you lack. People aren't built the same due to different ways of upbringing; thus, level of perseverance is also difference. But considering the intrusion the british media have forced upon Harry and Meghan's life, and they still manage to endure it for 5 years since their relationship came to light is remarkable. @@persada5913 I meant exactly the opposite. I wouldn't last 5 years under this, so I wouldn't marry royalty. But I also can easily notice I can withstand demands for discipline or sacrifice that most of the younger generations can't. And the same applies to my ancestors, I deeply admire what my grandparents endured as immigrants in order to allow our family to grow in a strange country, in times of complete lack of information, resources and knowledge. So basically what I'm saying is, 100% based on empathy: if I was in that position I'd have to choose between sacrificing my family and my privacy and my well being, in favor of the greater good (the Crown, the ideal, the beacon of excellence and leadership); or simply being generous and selfless enough to let it go and NOT marry royalty in the first place and not put my beloved one in such a terrible position of having to choose between her family and me. Really, you may want to check "The Crown" series on Netflix, it portrays similar situations in different circumstances more than one time, including Elizabeth's uncle, her sister and even herself. This may give you better understanding of what I'm saying. It's not as superficial as you may think, worth a shot.

If you can't handle blood and guts, don't be medic. If you can't donate yourself and prioritize others for decades, don't be a dad. If you can't stand intrigues, schemes and pressure, don't be a politician. And so on. In other words, the media bombardment they've received may be outrageous and inhumane, yes, but the thing is, all royals (and presidents, popstars, celebrities) deal with it, many of them do it like a boss. It may demonstrate lack of empathy to desire the perks of any choice at the same time as refusing the obligations or responsibilities included, and it's quite typical of the "how dare you?" generation to want the whole world to change and conform to one's needs and expectations. While fighting for what we believe always received my applause, just blaming the world and doing nothing to solve problems (instead usually urging others to solve for me) is just pure indolence.

He has no profession and she is not talented. The life they have now, is due to other people, the Queen gave them titles, Diana gave them money. And most of it came from tax payers. Harry who is an army vet and have toured Afghanistan twice is CIO at Better Up and a commissioner of digital misinformation commission. Do you think his current jobs are easy?! He and Meghan are also running a charity foundation and production house and at the same time they have to juggle with house chores. Lizzie, copykate/duplikate, hilly-billy, chuckie and others in the palace have more than a handful of servants, aides, secretary, and whatnot to cleanup their arses and do the house chores. When they go out all they have to do is only wave and shake hands and smile for the camera. How hard can the royal's job be?! LOL

They also don't show how the effort to improve Prince Harry's image was implemented by him being "baby-sat" whilst a mini doc was made by cameras filming him doing an "interview" then on hearing an explosion running to help his "men" .. good little piece of fiction as testified by ACTUAL military personnel who were annoyed that soldiers were being deployed to guard Harry's safety. He spent most of his time in a tent playing games on his computer.
