Why Photoshop Layer & Mask Not Moving Together (Toggle Pixel/Mask Link)

Learn how to link/unlink a layer's content from any masks it may have. Details below...
Patreon: / michaelbullo
Each layer within the Layers panel has a thumbnail preview of the content on that layer. Additional thumbnails within a layer represent masks. The gap between these thumbnails is a clickable toggle. When a chain icon appears, the layer content and mask will move together. When no chain icon appears, the layer content and mask can be moved independently of one another.

But what about resizing. I always have issues with my masked images with effects going out of place once I try to resize it

Can you be very specific about how you are resizing and how the effects are going wrong?

@@MichaelBullo I resize them by dragging, and the effects from the mask (i.e eyes or blemish patches) don't resize with the image itself. Adobe reps have not been helpful as they rarely actually know what they're doing lol

@@Kfortch In the Layers panel, you should see a chain icon between your layer thumbnail and your mask thumbnail. If you don’t, click in the area between those two thumbnails to activate the link.
