My first car was a 1999 crown Victoria Police interceptor that I did the very first oil change in my life three years after owning the car. I bought it almost 10 years ago, I've had other cars since, and that car is still being used today That car helped me gain a ton of freedom, not just as a young person, but also financially. It opened up a lot of doors for me. I never sold the car, but I ended up giving it to a friend who was going through a lot and needed a leg up. He has since found his way into the truck community, and the car was passed down to another friend who just needs a leg up. That car definitely means a lot to a bunch of people.

I’m 16 and have a 1995 crown Victoria S with only 70k miles that I got really lucky with finding about a year and a half ago for $500, and although that car has its fair share of issues due to its age, it really has helped me start to build up my own life and because of it I was able to work at my job and grow as a man. If it wasn’t for that car, I don’t think I would be where I am today and wrenching on it has taught me so much. Glad other people are helped by Vic’s as well! They really are bulletproof bang for buck

I am 19 and I have a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria lx in red. My dad bought the car when I was about 6 it had 30,000 miles on it and it became our family car. I went to my kindergarten in this car and then drove it to my high school graduation. It now has 215,000 miles on it and I drive it everyday to collage. I love my car her name is Christine.

My first car was a 1966 Ford Thunderbird I bought in 2017 while I still had my learner's permit. I still have it to this day, and it's still the only car I own. I learned everything I know about mechanics by fixing this car out of necessity. I had to rebuild the 390 V8 in my senior year of high school, which is still my biggest achievement in terms of wrenching. My friends associate the car with me, I've narrowly escaped encounters with bullies when the car started just in time, I've used it as a truck when hauling things for the small business I ran for several years, accidentally drove it through a construction zone because the GPS told me to, various parts of the car have burned me, cut me, pinched me, and taught me what gasoline tastes like... I've even experienced the kindness of strangers when it broke down in the middle of an intersection and wouldn't start again, and people helped push it into a parking space. On that same day, a group of firefighters who just happened to be passing by helped push it into a dirt lot after it broke down a second time. I went to my first car show in this car with "It runs!" written on the window paper under the category "special features." I've had conversations with random strangers in parking lots who remembered Thunderbirds from their youth, for whom seeing one brought back fond memories. It may be a little rough around the edges, but I couldn't have asked for a more special first car. It means a lot to me, and that's why I still have it.

@@lilproto9876 Heck, owning this car changed my opinion of truck enthusiasts for that reason! I used to jump on the bandwagon of hating on truck guys, until a few occasions where I had to approach random truck guys to ask for help jump-starting my car and whatnot. It showed me that for every annoying truck bro, there's a truck guy who comes prepared and is willing to help anyone. A lot of truck guys genuinely just love the utility and jump at the opportunity to use that utility to help someone, and for that I appreciate them now.

I think our first cars mean so much to us because they are our first experience of the freedom that comes with them. Freedom not only to go where we want but to express ourselves through our cars. My first car was a 1994 Cavalier I got back in 2007. I still have her to this day modifying along the way, I don't have many car friends since everyone is so quick to ridicule a Cavalier but that will never stop me from caring for my car so much. Thanks for reading this and keep up the good work.

Eversince I was a teenager I was in love with cars. Especially the 50s, 60s, 70s American machines, but also the Japanese beauties of the 80s and 90s. I live in hungary, and like many others, I had little to no money( in hungary there's no such thing like a "highschool car", people that get a car before 20 are really rare). Me and my friend always looked in gardens from the street that had a car sitting in the bushes, and we always hoped that some day we magically find someone who will give the car to us, because he doesn't use it anymore. I thought this all will be a dream forever, however everything changed about a year ago. My father met with his friend at the church ( he and his family live a couple streets from us, but they usually see each other after church), and somehow my father mentioned my love towards cars. His friend responded with he's got an old Toyota that he want to sell. At first I got really excited but as I tought about it, I couldn't afford to buy the car, AND also fix up all it's issues, because it was parked for about a year at that time, had rust, and oil consumption issues. The next time my father and his friend met, his friend heard about my financial situation and just casually sad that he would be happy to give it to me FOR FREE. I could not process it :D. Oh and guess what: it's a Japanese, 93 Corolla, and also a liftback model which is by far my favourite of all body types, and also because my grandfather also had a liftback Toyota, and basically I spent my entire childhood in that car, so it's like a match made in heaven. So now I have my very own car in the garden, what I dreamt about so many times watching videos of other people, and the fun they have with their cars. I can't express how happy I am to finally get the chance to be a part of this community. Now I owned it for about a year now, put it back on the road, fixed the major issues, and living my teenage dreams :D I know it's nothing like the cars over in america, or japan, it's a four cylinder, 1.3 litre, fwd, 88 hp little car, but I love it as hell, and it will be my treasure forever. Of course it's not a Supra or a AE86, and I'm spendig all of my earnings on this little corolla, but I'd rather have this with almost no money, than a Bmw or something like that. And a plot twist to the end: One year before I even heard about the car, I found it sitting in the street dirty and lonely, and just like eith the others, I thought about how cool it would be if I could get it someday. It's crazy to think that in that moment I met the love of my life, and found out one entire year later :D Thank you to whoever read this enormous comment, have a nice day. :)

My first (and current) car is a Suzuki Cappuccino which I imported to the U.S. I learned a lot about cars through it, and taught me to not be afraid of wrenching on your own car. Being able to drive stick properly is incredibly rewarding, and the car teaches you mechanical sympathy, especially when you know how expensive shipping replacement parts are. Not the cheapest first car in terms of car cost and parts, but definitely worth it! I was also thinking about getting the NA Miata, but a Cappuccino is a bit more unique :)

Still committed to my statement when I bought it that I’ll never ever sell it.

I think one of the main things about our first cars is that it's a huge responsibility. I bought my first car a little over a month ago, it's a 1988 Mazda 323 BF, 5 door hatchback, and it's a piece i'm really proud of. I can tell stories about the car not just what the previous owner did to/with it but what I did with it. I'm looking forward to have this car for a long time and really modify it in ways I can make it look personal.

I'm actually still driving my first car now! It's a 2000 Honda Civic EX, the last year of double wishbones and independent rear suspension. My parents bought it for me for $3,500, but I was responsible for maintenance and paying the registration. I learned everything about maintenance and mods on this car. I've repaired flaws from the factory and mistakes of my own. I've changed the clutch around 4 times and had the entire transmission torn apart on a table, then put back together. I've blown the engine at a track and had a very good machine shop rebuild it for me. Like many, it's the memories this car holds that make me hang on to it. It's been with me through multiple breakups, hard times, and disappointments. I've fit entire drumsets for gigs and tools and tires for track days. My favorite times are when I would drive late at night listening to music, with nowhere to go. The simple rhythm of clutching and shifting this car will never bore me. It's definitely a forever car for me.

My first car I bought with my own money was a 2001 Subaru Legacy RHD. It might of not been my smartest purchase, but I couldn't stop thinking about it once I drove by it and saw the for sale sign. It taught me a lot of what I know about cars and EJ engines. It's opened me to a large community of other Legacy owners and even the car meet culture. I genuinely might cry if I sell it and see it drive away 😅

My first personally owned car was a 94 325i in arctic grey and 5sp getrag transmission. I purchased it for 1k and it only needed a battery and an exhaust due to the old one was gone. That car taught me so much in terms of driving experiences, maintenance, and overall appreciation. I learned to drive stick in it and literally stalled the car 8 times in the parking spot just to move it. It taught me to love a good balanced car with its linear power curve and fun handling. Sure it's engine blew due to a piece of a valve broke off and tore the inside up and later the slave cylinder once I finally scratched up the funds to swap the motor out. It was sold to a close buddy to learned from that car like me and enjoyed it just as much until it was stolen.

We came back home and got the money and then went back the same day and bought it . After my brother came and drove it back since it was a manual and I didn’t know how to drive it at all. After I got home I gave it a wash and cleaned it up and started practicing and learned how to drive manual on it. So many memories and excitement in it but then I sold it sadly but I’m glad it’s gone and now have an rsx and very happy with it although I miss my first car

My first car was a 2006 CRV that my parents bought brand new. I have many fun memories in that car. It's the car I learned to drive manual on, and it's very special to me. However, what will probably end up being my most special car is my 97 Mazda Miata M Edition, my second car, and the first car I ever picked out and bought with my own money. I fell in love with it the moment I saw the Facebook ad. It was my dream spec, green with a tan interior plus all the M Edition goodies like a wooden shifter and LSD. I had my first ever autocross in it, and it provided some much needed happiness in a lonely period of my life after I moved across the country. I even made some friends because of it. The little car just makes everyone happy, and it's a blast to drive on twisty mountain roads!

Not my first car but my favorite car story of mine. My dad worked in the car business for 45 years and his love was always Mercedes. He always had an e class growing up and I always stuck with the 2010 e class he had. He had newer ones but something about that car was just really special to me. A little over a year ago I started working in the car business and I got the pleasure of starting at a Mercedes dealership which I am very thankful of. My dad was so proud to see me doing it, and after a couple months I saw a beautiful 2010 e550 come into trade and I was one day away from my sti coming in from transport. Needless to say I cancelled that sti and picked up the Benz. That Benz has now become my favorite car I’ve ever had. And I absolutely baby it. I’ll keep it forever because of the memories I have with my dads cars and now mine. I know that was long but I just wanted to tell my story.

My father in law has a car garage. One day, a regular customer comes by and asks if he wants to buy his second car off of him, because his wife was sick and he wanted to help her. My father in law bought the car for a higher price because of that with the intention to give it to someone close as their first car because it was so nice (Golf mk3 with low miles). Every mechanic in his shop said they didn't want it and my girlfriend saw the car and was in love with it so she reserved it for me. That's how I ended up with a like new Golf mk3 with low miles as my first car. It won't ever get sold 😁

My first car was a 04 Toyota Corolla. I was working for the county as a temp to get my first car, because I got tired of taking the bus and waiting for mom to pick me. I saw it at a small lot next to a beat up Maxima. I felt I was the shit when I could drive anywhere I want and not ask anyone for a ride. I had many good and bad times with that car. I got to drive around Florida exploring new places and meeting new people. I blew out a bunch of tires working as a pizza boy and me being a idiot. It got me into learning basic maintenance and made me appreciate my car. Besides tires, that Corolla never let me down. Last year in October, I got into a car crash with a box truck and a mustang. Thankfully I came out unscathed, but not my car. I’m not one to cry over everything, but that one of the few i broke down and boo boo cried. I spent the next few months busting my ass and saving money for a new car. I just bought a 05 Avalon and it’s definitely a upgrade to the Corolla. I sold the Corolla for scrap, because it was a wreck. I’ll never forget that car for giving me my first sense of freedom.

My first car was a 99 Saturn SL1. Had it for years. Barely cost anything cause nothing broke. Regret selling it every day. I'll also say that I've never been more heartbroken over a car than the 97 Mustang GT I worked on for 4 years. It was still a slow old GT but I restored so much on it. I lost it at Christmas last year. Rear ended hard at a red light. I still get extremely sad some times. I learned to do everything through that car. That was my first of 3 SN95s. I had an 04 I bought and sold during the life of the 97. And now I've picked up an 01 GT as I was never ready to sell my mustang. You never stop loving your first car. And it's also great knowing which cars are "your car". Love em or hate em. I will never turn down an SN. They have been so good to me.

Only had it for a year before I was rear ended at 45 mph while at a dead stop without getting so much as a scratch on me. My dad later took the motor and transmission out and dropped it into a tan S10 where it served as the family farm truck for another 4 years before being burned beyond repair in a garage fire.

1989 Buick Electra Estate Bought in 2011. It was for a car rally/roadtrip from New York to New Orleans (BABE Rally, Big Apple to Big Easy), where all the cars had to cost $500. I teamed up with an Englishman and a Scottsman from England who told me to get the biggest American car I could find. It was the 4th or 5th car I checked out and it fit the bill perfectly. I got a CB radio, spray painted magnetic sheets to stick on the car. I got to live out my "Top Gear" fantasies. I was supposed to get rid of the car afterwards, but I couldn't do it. I learned how to solder wires for gauges and a replacement radio, and generally learned more automotive stuff from things breaking or getting replaced. When too many people were going to a party or convention, my wagon was the one that could fit everyone and the luggage. When furniture needed to get moved it would fit in the back. My friends said my superpower was parking it in Manhattan, even on New Year's Eve. And the other people who see it have their memories of their B-Body wagon from the 80s. One older guy told me, "I humped more broads than I ever did in that!" When I took the woodgrain off, I decked it to look like the Ecto-1 from "Ghostbusters" and drove through Manhattan on Halloween. Pulling out from Hook and Ladder 8 with my lights spinning and siren wailing was a bucket list item I never thought to put down. And because I doubled down on keeping it, I replaced the 307 with a 455. I never would have torn down an engine before (though I knew better to give it to a professional to rebuild). Still working out the kinks, and bodywork / presentation is the goal for this year. Yes, it can get tiring. Yes, it can get expensive. But a smile still comes when it does work right. And its funny because I had always wanted B-Body car, specifically the 94-96 9C1 cop cars, but my wagon came into my life by complete chance.

My first car was a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS back in August 2015. I was never into cars or know anything about cars before 2015. But ever since I heard about "car modding", I transferred my art skills to this car, modded it and made it mine, I learned a lot of technical skills and car knowledge and culture. It was a CVT because I had bad memories of learning how to drive a manual but after learning the principles of "shifting gears" in my CVT with the itch to get into another car, I bought myself a 2012 Subaru WRX STI Hatchback in 2018 when I graduated college. I found the confidence to start my KZread channel back in 2020 with my current car, the 2017 Nissan 370z. I had her for 7 years before i came onto a terrible hardship in life, she had to go … i didnt sleep that night, i kept looking outside to see what i had was even real. From the growl, surprisingly agile handling, and having headroom to fit in it. (Rip civic dreams) It's the first time I ever said I want to drive it. I can't wait to try off-roading with it when I got the equipment for it. Hell, I want to really let the engine sing with an intake and exhaust swap. I am gonna make this the best damn jeep that ever jeeped. The hardest part for me is when I will swap to the 4xe model and say goodbye one last time. I don't know when it will happen whether but it will happen. The mpg difference and dct is hard to ignore.

my first car was a 2013 mini clubman. momma bought it brand new and drove it around NYC for years so it was well taken care of and really lightly used for the miles. eventually i got to driving age (2021) and got it brought down on a train with 85,000 miles on the clock. i put a straight pipe and short ram intake on it and had so much fun putting it around and slamming gears with the dual clutch, even if it wasn’t mind-bendingly fast. eventually all good things come to an end though, as my younger brother ended up totaling it about a year later after playing chicken with a SUV on the highway. i legit cried a little because that car was like a child to me and when i wasn’t racing it i was babying it. always making sure it was clean inside and out, changing the oil, spark plugs, and tires myself, checking the exhaust valve on the turbo after every session of spirited driving, etc. every now and then i swing by the junkyard it ended up in just to say hi, because i have so many memories in that car. my first love, high school graduation, my first job as an automotive technician, my first mods. nothing i get after will ever compare to that puppy-love attachment i had with that car, even if it was a euro shitbox with a fartcan, because it was MY euro shitbox with a fartcan.

My first car was a silver 1992 Mazda Xedos 6 2.0 V6, around 2008-2010, about 400k kms already when I drove it. Pros: -a rare sight (very few of them in Poland, even back then) -unique body style, a sort-of 4-door coupe -relatively small, but rev-happy V6 with a beautiful soundtrack -reliable transmission and engine -light and nimble Cons: -poor fuel economy (but not that bad either) -some parts were already hard to come by at that age -engine was so tightly packed, that even changing the spark plugs required lots of patience -rust on literally EVERY body panel It was given to me by my parents, never failed me, had lots of fun memories.

My first car was/is a base 2012 Cadillac CTS. I was originally gonna save up for a ‘96 SS Impala, but my mom looked through the local dealerships and stumbled across the CTS. Only 42k miles, no accidents just minor scratches. I wasn’t sold until I got behind the wheel because I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. I knew that had to be my first car. The associate who helped me had a mutual friend of my moms, and got the price knocked down from $20k to $16.9k before tax. It was just one of those moments where the stars aligned for it, and made me fall in love with Cadillacs! My uncle taught me how to restore the headlights on them, and I’ve got so many plans left for it I can’t wait for them to unfold!

My first car is a manual '07 Peugeot 207 GT, which my parents surprised me with about a year before I got my leaners license. My Dad and I spent I lot of time working on it, fixing a lot of small issues which all together added up. The only mechanical issue we have needed to face was the high pressure fuel pump which we fixed. I'm really proud of the work and few mods we have done to the car and really appreciate the opportunity to learn how to drive manual in the current times with it being a dying skill.

For the past 3 years it was standing in a garage because my dad bought a new car, but from the moment I got it I have already managed to fix plenty of small stuff in it like: Jamming headrest, aftermarket camera not working, interior lights not working and cleaned all the mold that gathered inside for those years of standing. Of course there is plenty of stuff I need to do, like fixing the cracking paint on the bumpers and replacing the lines for folding the seats, but overall the car is amazing and It gives plenty of fun to drive it.

My first car was a 2001 BMW 330xi, got it my junior year of high school for 2,700$ but needed a new rack and pinion as well as a couple other small things. Had it for about 5 years until last October, learned everything I know about working on cars by working on it with my dad. Working on it was actually the reason I switched to mechanical engineering in college. I have a lot of great memories in that car but unfortunately the driveshaft disconnected from the front diff on the highway, cracking my oil pan and lighting all my oil on fire while going about 90mph on my way home from college (this was also roughly 2 months after I installed a set of silvers coilovers I got from FI for 1200$). Had to pick up another car so I could still get back to college as well as work, still have the e46 sitting at my parents place, gonna get a lot of upgrades as soon as I graduate and have the money. Great content as usual Alex I hope you see this and appreciate the story

It drove it my entire freshman year of college going through hot summers to rainy winters. I just remember trying to keep it in pristine condition just as pops used to but, also being 18, taking every opportunity I could to swing the backend out hahaha. First car was technically a 1994 Nissan d21 pickup, extended cab, 5 speed manual, v6. my grandfather found it for $300. The tires rubbed so badly they were unsafe to drive, the transmission ground into 2nd, clearcoat peel everywhere, and literal mold in the dash. Never drove it off the island it was found on, but learned manual in it, and some day i hope I see it again can and give it some love. The first car I ever actually drove is a 2006 Audi A4 2.0t quattro, grey metallic. It's currently sitting in my driveway with an exhaust leak and probably a bad oil pump, along with plenty of other little issues. I've driven the piss out of that thing in the 6000 miles and 3 years (wow) I've had it. It's carried me from sneaking out of the house as a sophomore to the end of my senior year. When the time comes to let her go, it's gonna be emotional. Love you, krautwagon.

Those posts helped me learn whatever I needed to know when maintaining that car or doing some small mods. After 5 years of ownership I got the opportunity to pick up a 2010 legacy 2.5 gt witch I'm currently building into my perfect summer canyon carver. My first car was a 1988 Ford Thunderbird. My dad purchased the car from the original owner in 2001 for $1500. I vividly remember going with him to pick the car up and hearing him complain on the way home about how the 5.0L V8 in the Thunderbird was only 155hp compared to the 225hp that the same engine put out in the Mustang of the same year. Fast forward to 2006, my dad offered it to me as my first car and I gladly accepted. I soon ended up doing my 12th grade research paper on the 5.0L engine and, during that process, I discovered step by step instructions on how to convert the 155hp Thunderbird engine to the 225hp Mustang variant. I immediately showed my dad, and $300 of eBay purchases later (as my high school graduation gift), we set off to convert the engine. That ended up being the first of many upgrades for the car. It later got swapped to a 5 speed manual, then we built a new engine for it, new rims etc. Then I got my first real job where I was making real money. I was living in an apartment at the time, and shortly after I started dating my wife, the car was hit while parked. I decided that was the time for me to finally put proper money into the car. I got it beautifully repainted and did a major suspension overhaul with coil overs, tubular control arms, Koni shocks etc. Fast forward to today and the car has much larger Mustang Cobra brakes, hydraulic clutch conversion, and a brand new 5 speed transmission. At this point, my dad and I have essentially upgraded/replaced every mechanical part in the car. It is an absolute pleasure to drive, especially on twisty roads (hoping to finally take it to Tail of the Dragon this year) and I'm always out enjoying it. In fact, I enjoy driving it so much that I recently got rid of my 2017 Shelby GT350, as the cost of that car no longer made sense with how much I enjoy (and refuse to ever get rid of) the Thunderbird. Many other cars have come and gone, but the Thunderbird remains. It has essentially acted as the blank canvas with which I do my best to create the best driver's car I possibly can. Once I started experiencing more modern cars like my first brand new car (2015 GTI) and later my GT350, I've taken the lessons learned from experiencing those cars and applied them to the Thunderbird, which has resulted in the very enjoyable driving machine it is today. And through the years, there have been so many memories made with friends and family. It really hit me a few months back at my best friend's wedding; they had a slideshow playing during the reception, and there were several pictures of us goofing off in the Tbird back in college. We both got some good laughs out of those pictures and memories.

My first car was a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero. I bought it off my friend for $50. I had spent time in and with the car before, but it wasn’t until that I started really looking into the history and legacy of Oldsmobile as a whole that I truly fell in love with it. It was beat, it was rusty, but because of that car, I found an amazing community who have a genuine passion for them and the brand as a whole. I didn’t have the car for long, sadly. A bad windshield seal got the best of it. Water would leak straight into the fuse box in the dash. Screwed up countless electronics, so unfortunately I had to part ways with my first car (whom I named Stacy, after a dear friend who passed away) It was sad, but that car gave me many friends whom I care for deeply. I’ve owned 4 Aleros since then. Two of which were Final 500 editions. The first one was #435/500. Sadly I lost that one back in 2020 to a T Bone accident. I currently have #302. Me and a friend rescued it from certain demise, as it was stolen and heavily vandalized from the previous owner. I’m currently working on restoring it. But, back on the main topic. Many people view Aleros (and mainly Oldsmobile as a whole) to a low budget poverty spec brand who are just bought by people who don’t care about cars. But being in the Alero and Oldsmobile communities have shown me so much more. There are people like myself who basically live and breathe this dead brand. Who will do anything to keep its legacy alive. And I am so proud to say I am one of those people.

1993 Mazda MX-6 LS 5 speed. Parents surprised me with it the weekend I got my license. They got it cheap because it was "burning a little oil" but turned out compression was low on multiple cylinders. After researching rebuilding or swapping, I paid $500 for a KL-ZE from an importer on e-bay motors and my dad and I swapped it using hand tools, a haynes manual, and a harbor freight engine hoist. Being a dumb teenager I then beat the crap out of the car and burned up the factory clutch and managed to spin it into a ditch but only did some body damage. I then found a nicer shell 1994 and got it for $250 (remember when you could get cars that cheap just because the motor was blown?) and swapped the motor and transmission into the new shell. The amount of wrenching I did with my dad on those two cars is why I still love cars.

I know it's not a car, but my first car was a 1997 GMC 2500 base regular cab long bed. I currently have it and love it to this day, it taught me so much about working on cars and trucks. It was a work truck handed down to me from my dad. I've done multiple things to modernize it and make it cooler like wheels and tires, a camping setup on the bed, rock lights, and a huge subwoofer for the small regular cab truck. It has plenty of quirks and everyone that has driven it other than me hates the loose steering and lagging peddles, but those things don't bother me.

The first car that I bought with my own money was the 04 VW Golf with the 2.0 4cyl. Great car with great handling when it worked. That thing unfortunately had something break every time something else was fixed. I basically knew almost nothing about working on cars then. After its transmission went to turds, I eventually bought my current car, the 2020 Subaru Impreza hatch with the manual, that I love dearly and also the car that I finally learned how to change engine oil on. I also ventured in buying a project Saturn SC2 for car fixing practices. My first car did not come with absolute wonderful memories, but I did learn that some cars are just way more difficult to maintain than others, and that reliability is all about researching well about car brands and previous owners.

My first car that was my very own was a 2014 black Jetta with a beige leather interior. The car was sleek and low. The speakers were so good I would just leave my house to sit and listen to music in the parking lot. I was also finally able to drive around with my friends like how they would for me. This was special to me because my father owned one around when I was 6 and it felt like I hit a milestone. He actually got pulled over for the first time which also added this rebellious aura to the car. The first ever drive, I got really excited to show it off and when I was going to a friend's house I got pulled over for speeding. I managed to hide the ticket for a couple of months. I ended up having to lend the car to my mother then she discovered the ticket I stupidly forgot to take. And she got rid of my beloved car in an instant.

My first Car was a 1988 Toyota Supra MK3. I got into JDM solely because of the culture. Before then I was (and still am) into American classics. I thought it was awesome how people in this culture came together to just share appreciation for each others’ hard work. I am currently putting money towards it (hopefully to have it finished by senior year). Even though it has some problems and is very expensive, I am confident that God will help me make the right choices and will continue providing for me. When I was first looking for a car I was very impatient and went to see car after car (each deal fell through or had issues), I got upset and remember just saying “Okay God, I’ll leave this in your hands”. The very next day my cousin sent me a text saying that his friend who owned the Supra was willing to make a deal with us for it, sure enough I bought the car for $4,100 the same week! This car is such a huge blessing and I am going to work hard for it! Hard work always pays of guys, pray and God will answer! Stay safe y’all God bless!

1985 Nissan 300zx. I just graduated from high school and was working at McDonald's while using my dad's car to get to work. He knew I wanted something sporty and would stop by dealerships on his way home from work and found it sitting in a back lot of a Chevy dealer. They had it in to sell for someone else and I got it for $1800 in summer of 2001. It needed a new clutch and I had it for a couple years until I was using it to deliver pizzas. The parking break would stick on (a problem with the calipers on these) so I parked it without the brake on and when I got out I felt the pizza bag stuck on something so I gave it a tug, knocked it out of gear, and chased it across the road until it went through a fence into the dark. Less than 10 seconds later I heard it slam into a tree. I've owned 2 more since.

First car is still my primary daily, an 04 rx8. I owned the car a full year before actually getting to drive it due to electrical gremlins preventing the car from starting, once solved, the car drove for a few months before blowing a seal (ha ha.). The seal ate through the rear housing and so the motor was shot. My parents were willing to v8 swap the car but the rotary bug was too strong, so we found a second motor and that one has been the motor in the car since. That was 2013, I think the car originally belonged to an elderly couple so they didn't really get to maintain it like they wanted. I'm very proud of how long it's lasted. It's still mostly stock, with a greddy supreme exhaust, Exedy clutch, Tein coilovers and RE Amemiya shifter. Fitment needs work but I plan to keep it for the rest of my life. I loved rotaries before I owned one, now I'm hooked.

I remember driving home with it and it dying on me at least 2-3 times. Constant issues after issue. Had an accident in it. Didn't have the money to have it repaired. An uncle told me about junkyards. He told me if I can take something apart you can put it back together. Sure enough, I went to the yard, began wondering around and started pulling parts. I actually grew to enjoy being a grease monkey. Lol. That car gave me the confidence to work on my own cars going forward. Something breaks down, I know how to diagnose it. I'm confident enough to buy the parts needed and repair it if it isn't too technical of a job. I ended up getting rid of it because the rack and pinion went out and moved onto an 03' Monte Carlo SS.

My first car was a '79 VW Rabbit L, Wolfsburg Edition, 1.5L diesel, 5 speed. It was a GREAT car for a broke student, because, it topped out at around 70 mph, and, it got 55-60mpg. The previous owner had painted it a beautiful metallic maroon color, put a full BBS aero kit on it, a set of 14" GTI Teardrop rims, and, he even painted the area around the rear window flat black, like a GTI, but, with only 48hp.

My first vehicle was a 1997 GMC Sierra. My parents bought it for me when I was 15. They bought it from my uncle's shop for $3800. He held it for me and didn't let anyone else buy it even though my mom told him not to. My mom and dad taught me how to fix it when it broke (which happened a lot). I had so many good times in that truck and learned a lot about cars / trucks from it. Eventually I was able to buy a 6" lift and put 35" tires on it. I will admit I squatted it a little bit because I lived in the hee haw and that's what everyone was doing around there at the time. I had it for 5 years until I had to sell it to get something more reliable for college. Funny thing is I sold it to buy a Hyundai Genesis Coupe which I still have. It's been a very reliable / fun car but I still miss my old truck from time to time. I remember one summer it blew an intake gasket while my sister and cousin were riding with me. My truck started steaming and they thought it was smoke and started panicking and we all got out of the truck. Then my cousin started drinking all the water that we had inside the truck and started pouring it on his feet so they wouldn't burn. My parents ended up driving over to me and towing it to my uncle's shop which was 2 miles down the road lol. One time it went through 3 transmissions over the course of 3 months because the old one gave out and then I got a rebuilt one and it ended up being a 2wd transmission instead of 4wd so that one blew as well. Then when I sent that one in and got another one from the same company, they didn't rebuild it all the way and it ended up blowing up too. When I tried to get a refund they had went out of business so me and my dad just decided to rebuild it ourselves. It also fell on my dad and almost killed him one time while I was at the parts store buying shocks for it. He was trying to get the torsion keys out and didn't put enough support under the truck. We had a gravel driveway and the jacks slipped and fell as he was shaking the truck and it landed right on his chest. Thankfully my drunk neighbors heard it and came and got it off of him quickly.

My first car was a 2003 Seat Leon, with a naturally aspirated 1.4 liter petrol engine. It belonged to my dad for over 10 years, and it was in a couple accidents throughout this time. Including when I was learning to drive on it at 15, and hit a concrete pole. Turns out, doing a Y turn on a 1-lane wide downhill slope was too hard for someone with less than 2 hours of experience behind the wheel...shocking. But he encouraged me, and as quite a timid kid, I obliged. Either way, the car looked horrible when I got it. It was full of a decade's worth of dirt and mud, and had a huge stain of cat piss soaked into the back seat. You could say a gift is a gift, but considering I had to spend more than its value on it just to make sure it's at least drivable, I treat it as if I bought it. I only bothered to fix about half of its many issues, so it still looks like a junkyard runaway, but at least it runs and drives...which is the bare minimum from a car... In a nutshell, it is extremely underpowered (75 peak HP for over 1300 kg of empty weight), it drinks way too much fuel, and is not even remotely reliable. I barely put 7000kms in it over 15 months.

My first car was an 02 Sentra Se-R Spec V. It was my step dads and it was his for as long as I knew him. He and my dad we really into cars when they were my age so they did all sorts of crazy things with them. With this one though he kept it as a daily so it got a slightly different treatment. Lowered 3/4 of an inch, cold air intake, exhaust tune and some other things to give it some love. It had a problem with the first motor as it had a crack in the engine from manufacturing so it got replaced, but that's not why it was on its third engine. Its second engine got blown because he gave it a 250 shot of nitrous to beat an Evo VII in a drag race. He was going to donate it as he didn't think it was worth much but I needed a car and it was free, and it held a place in my heart as being his car, and anything I could do to be closer to him was something I was willing to learn. Unfortunately the cat gave out without me knowing and caused irreversible damage to engine number 3, and while I could afford to fix it, I'm planning on moving and need the funds to make sure I don't die on my own. Still heartbroken about not being able to fix it, as I've done all sorts of repairs to it from brakes to the radiator to the speakers. It gave me knowledge on driving manual and how to do some more complex repairs on cars.

1991 Honda Civic sedan Bought it back in 2003 with about 62k miles. Drove it everywhere, flat out. It died, sadly around 196k miles, back around 2011...? I learned how to do the maintenance on it on my own, learned how all the systems worked, and worked together... built various versions of air intakes and exhaust systems to get me from 50+ mpg to spinning tires in it. I still have it, but it's been sitting, rusting, unable to do anything with it, due to time and money - parked next to one of the fields. Recently found the front driver's side window broken. I want so badly to rebuild it, to make it better, more powerful... Maybe one day.

I love my first car because of the time I've spent on it with my dad. He is a car mechanic by trade and because of him cars have always been a huge part of my life. When it was time to go looking for my first car I was armed with a burning passion for everything 'JDM' and all of two thousand bucks. That got you a lot in 2019, btw. Hondas were super unpopular back then. Remember people getting laughed at in the Internet for owning one? I sure do, 'Rice' was huge. Anyways, we went to a local used car dealer (cool guy, btw) and looked at literally the *only* japanese-brand car the guy had: a pretty clean 1996 Honda Civic Fastback/M-chassis. One owner, low mileage, 1.4l engine, 90hp, 'comfort' trim and atrocious flower stickers on the doors with badly UV-bleached, fugly dog stickers in the rear window. I immediately fell in love with it. We asked for the key and the battery struggled *hard* , barely turning the engine over, but it came alive first try and at that moment we knew this car is The One. We also wasted no time and immediately got to modifying it together, buying my first mod from the money left of the two grand. Had a lot of 'firsts' with this car. First aftermarket exhaust, first aftermarket wheels, first engine swap, my first road trip and my first engine build. (Went NA, love revving the piss out of it. :P) P.S. The M-chassis (e.g. MB6, MC2, etc.) doesn't exist in the US, but look 'em up - they are pretty cool. There even was a wagon version that came with a B18C4 engine that made around 180hp. Factory sleeper, anyone?

That car had been sitting a good half a decade if not a full one and we got it to start right up like it had been waiting for the day as I have when I first set eyes on that diamond in the rough.

My first car was a 2005 Ford Escape, it used to be my neighbor’s, who was such an amazing guy, until he died and his wife sold it to me. I had it for a year and a half until I got T-boned and it was totaled. But that car was fantastic for the beach, or the skatepark, and toting around my slammed shopping cart and the sound system (bone stock) was incredible. I loved that car so much.

My first car is a 2013 Honda Civic!!! it is very special to me since it was the first big purchase, the first and only car we bought since migrating to Australia. I still remember when we went to see it in the show room. The car was a Honda Civic with the sports trim looked fast and had a luxurious interior, black leather seats and a sunroof! 12 year old me did not know much about cars, but I love any car that is sporty looking. On the day we collect our car at first I was initially disappointed since my dad ended up buying the base model with an automatic transmission and R18 engine, grey cloth seats, steelies with hub caps and no epic sunroof. Over the years the car kept growing on to me and was the first car I ever drove after getting my Ls. This year marks the 10th year of having this car and I am about to get it as a hand me down as my parents are seeking a second car and I will use the little civic to get to university. It may not be a head turner or the VTEC super car killing beast that I hoped it was but this car is very special, it is a symbol of a fresh new beginning in a country I am happy in. I hope to keep the car in my family forever and hopefully will be parked alongside my dream car, in the near future GT or GR86 that I have been crushing on since 2014.

I just got my first car in September of 2021. It’s a 2014 Volkswagen CC with the R-line trim package. Because of a deal with my parents I paid about $8-9K (total cost was about $16k) . It’s in near-perfect condition with around 57K on the odometer. My dad has had Volkswagens for as long as I can remember, and I’m so happy to finally have one to call my own. We just spent a weekend upgrading the headunit and sound system, and adding remote start. I’m looking forward to many years of tinkering with, and driving that car. :)

I'm still driving my first car, which is a 1997 Honda Prelude base. Guy we got it from sold it to my dad for $800 back when I was 15(I'm turning 20 next month) and is a salvage title due to a parking lot hit and run from the previous owner's history, and while the car has had its fair share of issues, like the timing belt snapping on my dad while he was on the way to work one day, burning through 3 alternators, common oil leaks from the H22A4, and the water pump spewing coolant because the guys who took a look at the motor when the belt snapped only tightened one bolt on it and was fine like that for 3 years, it still is a fun little car to drive. All of the friends I have made associate my car with me all the time seeing as how I'm the only Prelude owner in my area. Even made a friend with a guy who moved to the US from China who owned an AE86, FD RX7, and R32 GTR because he liked the car a lot, despite it being a salvage title

I learned to drive in a Plymouth minivan that's older than I am. In late high school, I drove an '02 Corolla that used to be my grandma's. However, both of these cars belong to my parents. The first car that was actually *mine* was a 1998 Accord V6, and I love it for many of the reasons you mentioned in this video. I got it in 2014 from a guy at our church who wanted to sell it because it needed a new transmission. At the time, it had ~185,000 miles, and I took out a loan from my parents for 4 grand to buy it and replace the transmission. When I told my grandad about it, he said I shouldn't buy it because it had too many miles on it, and they salt the roads in the winter where I live. Nevertheless, I trusted my parents and our local mechanic and started driving it everywhere. I got it at the start of a 2.5-year hiatus from college, and working in fast food to pay it off about 2 years later taught me so many important lessons that enabled me to go back and finish my degree. I drove it to pick up a girl for our first date, then so many more that I eventually married her. It carried me (and sometimes a friend) the 750-mile distance between home and college too many times to count and only broke down twice while doing so (first the starter, then the alternator). Multiple times each, I've slept in it, run out of gas, got flat a tire, and got pulled over (with widely varying results). Someone stole its catalytic converter in 2021. It was either the first or second car (can't remember) in which I changed the oil with my father-in-law, now my productive hobby a couple years running. It's been in a handful of accidents, some of which were my fault, though the two that each totalled it were not. Thanks to one of them, the passenger side doors are now a slightly different shade of silver. One of the map lights and several dash lights don't work properly anymore, all of which adds to its character. Unlike the aforementioned Grand Voyager and Corolla, I feel like it encourages me to drive it aggressively. Sure, the 200-bhp VTEC engine is a big part of that, but I've realized over the years that the suspension and steering each matter at least as much as acceleration, if not more. It taught me many things, but one of them is a love of cars and driving. Nine years and about 100,000 miles later, I still commute to work in it, though the job is now much better than fast food, and my old Accord now has a car seat in the back. My parents still drive that Grand Voyager rarely and that Corolla frequently. Next time I see my grandad, I'll have to tell him just how wrong he was.

My first purchased sports car back in 2019 was a JDM Dark Green 1995 Toyota Celica ST202 lift back. Of course, I currently live in Japan and have had several vehicles prior, but most were a given from my parents and were non sporty. This was my first ever purchased vehicle with my own cash and I have had a lot of memories with this thing. This was the first car I've learned to rev match in as it was a manual and the first I'd say to get new tires and suspension. Thankfully, I had a dealer where I bought the car from who gave me 2-year free maintenance for oil changes and what not. They even were able to get the Suspension repaired and it made the car smoother to drive. I was also getting into Initial D at this time, and this was a car from that era as it was set in the mid 90s. Although, I had days where I had rough shifting and I thought I was doomed and will kill the clutch, but that vehicle held through the good days and bad days of driving it. Unfortunately, this was the first car I had a major car accident with. I took it up for a cruise on Yabitsu Touge one night, and the downhill hit a guardrail with it. Sadly, I had to junk it. Just got to leave the fast Touge driving in the Anime and go slow on the actual roads. I have had 2 cars since, but I owe to the Celica for the various memories and being my first ever purchased vehicle. My next vehicle was a 1998 Mazda Roadster NB6C. Although it was my 2nd car, It my first car where I actually did some wrenching to it. It wasn't any major engine work, but I did replace the side marker lamps with LEDS which was a pretty simple mod. I also tried to patch up the soft top, but instead had the dealer do the repair. A nice little car it was to roll around in, but it was an Automatic and I really desired to go back into a manual. Now I'm on my third purchased vehicle which is a 2010 Honda CR-Z. Although this car is much newer than my previous vehicles, but it's somewhat of a throwback to when I had my Celica, but with an added gear. All I can say is, many cars you own and drive, will produce great memories whether good or bad. Of course, my Japanese dream JDM to own is the AE86 from Initial D and I hope to get one someday and make more great memories from it like my others lol.

My first car (Bought in 2021) was a 1994 Mazda Miata, Classic red with a dying automatic transmission, large dents scattered across the car, a few remnants of paint, a soft top with holes, and 10 previous owners. Lots of great memories with that car. I bought it not knowing a damn thing about cars or how to work on them knowing I was going to manual swap it. After 3 months of driving it, the automatic became a box of neutrals and over the course of 3 months me and my friends learned how to swap it. After that I was able to do that my mom taught me to drive stick and I was cruising around. Later I found that the motor has a crack in the block, the car consumes oil violently, and 2nd gear on the junkyard transmission is grinding pretty bad. Unfortunately being I have to pay for school and its my only car, the Miata is likely nearing her end but I definitely learned more practical knowledge than any school could ever teach me for the price I spent.

I bought my first car a year ago in Feb 2022. It was a 2015 challenger R/T with the 6 speed manual. It was not in the best shape, it had 71K miles, there was some rust spots in the roof and a large scratch on the passenger side rear quarter panel. I did the usual mods, a short throw shifter, cold air intake, aftermarket shift knob, cut the rear mufflers out and welded in square quad exhaust tips. It was fun to drive but undoubtedly slow as my dad has a 2012 challenger SRT Yellow Jacket. However it was fun to get my doors blown off by a couple of the local mopars, do burnouts in my highschools parking lot, make noise in every tunnel and under every overpass. After a couple of months of thinking I decided to let it go as the rust was a problem I couldn’t afford to fix before it got worse. I live in Hawaii across the street from the beach, and with the car sitting outside the rust was getting worse every month. I traded it in for a new used 2023 Brz limited that had 150 miles. I do miss the car however because of my living situation having the smaller car has been better. My brother says it was a waste of money, but it did give me perspective on my dream car, a hellcat challenger with the manual. It made me realize that the hellcat would only be fun in a straight line, obviously, and that I wanted a car I could work on. There’s no point for me to work on the hellcat as there’s no drag strips on island, and there’s only street racing. The roads here are pretty bad so the hellcat would never get any grip. My dads Yellow jacket barely gets traction when he steps on it. My new dream is to 2jz swap the brz and make it somewhat of a sleeper. But it’s gonna take a while.

My 1st Car was a 1998 Honda Prelude. I just turned 18 and I bought the car with my own money! $4500 cash. what sold me on this car specifically was the Lambo doors! I saw it on Craigslist and I knew I just had to have it! After owning it for 2 years I sold it to someone who needed a 4 cylinder car for work and well as much as I didn't want to sell it, I did and got me a brand knew car. About a year later the owner ran it without oil and cracked the motor. So it sat in his front yard for 4 years! I had finally pulled the trigger and was going to buy my 1st Car back as is! The week I was suppose to buy it, some kids around 2a.m had put fireworks in the opening for gas. And exploded and caught the car on fire. One of these days, I would like to get the same year car in the same color and fix it up as if how I would fix my 1st Car!

Love at first sight, bought it back in october of 2022. still owning it, bought a lot of rare aftermarket parts and its my daily driver. I now work at a chevrolet dealership across the city which means i had to drive it more. Low KM too. I love every aspect about it but i know when time comes il have to replace the headgaskets or maybe some other issue will pop up, and i know how to work on them. Edit, Im 18 btw.

My first car is a W203 C-Class in blue with only 62K on the clock. Definitely a joy to own and drive as a first car.

My first car was a 1980 Suzuki lj81 which I bought for 2,000aud and fixed up throughout a year the reason I love that car is because it's unlike anything else small, revs high and just funny to look at .

My first car was also a 1991 integra ls!! I bought it just last year but since then I’ve owned another one, but sold that one because it will never compare to my first. They are truly great cars. I’ve driven a 3rd gen and those are so boring compared to the da. The reason I bought the car was because it’s a perfect happy-medium. Reliable, stylish, quick and sporty but also slow and safe, and great on gas, plus they’re affordable which is the main reason it’s the perfect first car. I don’t have many car friends so I didn’t have many second opinions, but I couldn’t be happier that I got it and plan on keeping it for a very long time. P.s, the dude with the da story is way better, made me smile so hard, it’s a dream to take a road trip with my dad and that car!

I just bought my first car a few months ago it’s a 3rd gen Acura TL with a 6 speed manual it’s really beat up but I’m in mechanics school and my goal is to restore it to factory new condition. It’s such a good bang for your buck car it looks amazing, comes with brembo brakes and a lsd paired to a 260hp v6 that happily starts up every time in typical Honda fashion. Best car I’ve ever driven I learnt how to drive manual in it too which just makes it even more special
