The home video 4k released do Nolan films justice since he oversees the production of them. It's not the same, but it still has visuals greater than any other. Also the movie is getting another IMAX release in November for the 10th Anniversary from what I've heard about 2 or 3 months ago.

Besides, when it comes to a Nolan movie, you can always expect some breathtaking shots in IMAX regardless of the genre. He has never disappointed in that aspect and there's no reason to doubt him now.

@@MegaSheen15 true. while the data can be re-used technically unlimited times and less added noise (film will degrade overtime especially after being heated by the projector lamp and printing final reel from the master reel also adds more noise), the resolution is just... too low compared to 15/70. that's why newer IMAX rarely have big screen

It actually looked incredible. I talked to my editing professor the next day who said that traditional film can be blown up to four times it’s original size without losing any detail

I am so proud that my country is (except UK) only one country which has IMAX 70 mm format in Europe, but I saw crazy movie-tourism there, it was very crowded, people all over Europe arrived to Prague and I felt like at some music festival, so many people in cinema. :-)

@@kriuw The difference is, when you're watching the 70mm IMAX Film Projection, you're actually watching the real FILM reel itself being projected onto the massive square screen. If its a TRUE imax film projection, the screen is HUGE and more square than it is wide, because you're seeing the entire film frame projected onto the screen, and that film is more square than it is wide. People call movies "films" but rarely do they ever actually get to see a REAL film reel projected in a movie theater. What people see 90% of the time in theaters is just a digital projection, meaning a high quality video file that is being played off a computer of sorts that is being projected onto the screen. "Fake" Imax or as people call it "lieMAX" is somewhat similar to a digital projection, HOWEVER, the quality of the projection for an IMAX theater is miles better than what you would see from your standard local theater. It's many times brighter, the colors are more vivid, etc. There are two versions of this kind of IMAX, being Imax Digital, which is a 4K digital projection (still WAY better than a normal theater) and then "Imax With Laser" where they will often have dual laser projectors that project a very high resolution scan of the film on a screen that is almost, or the same size as the actual film projection depending on what kind of laser projection it is. If you don't have a true 70mm projection near you, Imax With Laser is the next best option. If you don't have Imax with Laser, Standard Imax is still a great option. Each of these options will still have bigger and taller screens than a standard theater. It is also important to note that the editors of oppenheimer edited the movie for both the square size of the actual imax film itself, but also made sure all the important bits of the film are still all visible in the versions of the movie that aren't being projected on the taller square screen that the 70mm imax film is projected on. Meaning, you're not going to miss out on any important details of the movie if you see it on standard imax or imax with laser. Simply, whatever you do, just make sure you watch it in IMAX in general. Doesn't matter which kind, just imax.

I drove all the way to that theater in San Antonio from Houston and yesterday, when it came time to watch the movie, the film of film projector was broken of having issues so we had to watch the movie in digital. Was so disappointed to have missed out in the experience but phenomenal movie regardless.

Wasn’t able to see it due to AMC tricking me into canceling my ticket by disguising it as another movie that I’d already cancelled the reservation for. The moment I noticed it, I tried to buy another ticket only to see that the screening was sold out.

I saw the movie in Ontario, California. The movie was breathtaking.

One thing people don't realise is most Movie theatres even today project film in 2k, not even 4k. IMAX 70mm film projects an image which is 18k

I'm in the Dallas area, and all showings at our 70mm theater were booked for weeks. I kept an eye out and was able to find a good seat at 2:35am on Sunday. Got out at 6am, but it was one of the most magical experiences I've ever had watching a movie. If you love movies and get the chance to do it, please do.

I watched Oppenheimer in IMAX laser and it was the best cinematic experience i have ever had. Everything is incredible, the screen is full from corner to corner with outstanding picture quality and sound. You can hear every little thing in the background. A life time experience, you can’t say you watched Oppenheimer unless you watched it in IMAX.

Sorry. Personally I felt the IMAX for Oppenheimer is overrated, other than the screen ratio. I would rather spend that money to watch Interstellar or Top Gun Maverick rather than Oppenheimer. It just too little actions in the movie itself to get to the full potential of the IMAX experience, and out of the 3 hours duration of the movie, only the atomic bomb scene worth the IMAX experience, and the movie is basically a movie style documentary, shot in IMAX. I'm not an expert, but these are just my personal opinion. Top Gun: Maverick was my first and only digital IMAX experience, (and still grieving on not watching Interstellar in IMAX), TG gave me a more wonderful experience watching in IMAX. I'm not an expert, but these are just my personal unbiased opinion.

But in Oppenheimer is not only the full ratio also the sounds is by far better than the standard cinema. And for me watching the atomic bomb scene in IMAX is really worth every penny . A few months ago nearby cinema re-release interstellar in IMAX, I couldn’t see it because i was having exams but man i still regret it until now

when the nearest imax 70mm is almost 500km away... the only imax my country has is 5 digital "imax" 1.90:1 screens luckily my local theatre is one of the 5

Sadly I’m not making the 250 mile drive to see it that way.

Aside from science films at the science center, I saw Attack of the Clones on IMAX film. The film was slightly shorter than the normal version because the film reel had to be smaller. It was missing some of the outdoor bonding scenes with Padme and Anakin. Forgot to mention Back to the Future The Ride as it was shot and projected on IMAX film. Went on that ride many times in one day with the Universal VIP pass.

Note: All Imax Theatres are not same. They are just selling the trend.

The projector in san Antonio broke so they showed watched the digital one instead... We all got refunds at least.

I saw it in the second row from the screen it was an awful experience sitting that close. Literally had to fully turn my head side to side during certain scenes to see everything 😢

There needs to be a True IMAX theater in every state!!!!

Question for the people: I’ve seen this film in IMAX laser. Is it really a noticeable different to see it in IMAX 70mm? I’ve seen Avatar II in many formats, but didn’t notice any big difference when I saw it in an IMAX theatre (MoDS, Fort Lauderdale). Now I know this video stated Oppenheimer has 70mm film, but I just wanted to leave that input.

​@@thilakjo Nah man, sorry. No true IMAX theaters in India anymore. There was one back in 2014 called "Prasads" but it got shut down, I think Interstellar was the last movie they showed in IMAX 70MM. You'll have to see Oppenheimer in digital IMAX (also called LieMAX) but atleast it'll be better than a normal screen

Interstellar was also filmed in 70mm and I watched it in IMAX 70 mm. Not many people can say that.

Me watching it on 480p on my 6 inch phone: yeah its a good movie

Looks like I’m gonna have to buy a plane ticket to California also since here in Mexico there’s only IMAX Digital

Got my ticket today..God is good. 🙏🏼

It was super fun, hearing the projector in the background was so cool. I did notice more detail and more refined colors. It was incredible.

Let's be real, most of us are going to see it in copied digital form after 3 months from you know what.

I’m happy it makes people excited for cinema again

Very few countries have the 70mm imax

Cleaning up sound in post is somewhat hard because IMAX filming is so loud 😂

The two theaters that have it near me are entirely booked😢

Bro I was born in the 90s ain’t nothing new.

I went to the IMAX Theater in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. its such a different experience, the quality of the Film is ressembeling a 16k resolution screen. truly amazing

I live in Melbourne Australia, we have 1 imax theatre for 4 million people, I have no idea whether they use film or digital projection 🤣 but I don’t have any other option

Saw the movie now...was not Upto my expectations! 😢

Just saw it on 70mm imax, the screen was corner to corner and sound was crisp, you can even hear furniture shaking and rattling through conversations

I do not regret watching this in 70mm imax in the chinese theater

I watched it in imax, the explosion nearly made me deaf 💀💀💀

I got to watch Oppenheimer in 70mm Imax around 5 times in NYC. I'm keeping those tickets forever

Ahh, well that explains why IMAX Oppenheimer tickets are sold out for 2 months in my city.
