Why One Room Is Hotter Than Others

Ever wonder if your air conditioner is working right because one room never gets a cool or warm as others? Do you need a bigger air conditioner to fix a room that's farthest away from the A/C unit?Arizona energy auditor shares his findings from thousands of energy audits here goo.gl/teBQSw

You just saved me from calling a professional to check on 2 hot rooms in my AZ house. The registers were restricting air flow! The rooms have already cooled down in 10 min. I could barely feel the air when I put my hand near the registers. Now I can feel the air sitting on the bed. Thank you!!

Bruh is that why my room is always so damn hot? My room is _directly_ above the garage, you can hear it open and close from there.. Dammit of course I get the room with the worst heat :( I literally can't sleep at night, I'll take a cold shower, turn the ceiling fan on and the floor fan pointing towards me on max power, ice behind the fan, open windows, closed windows, I've tried everything. And it's honestly worse at night, too. I even take those melatonin pills and I can't go to sleep until like, 4 or 5 in the morning and I have to wake up at 7 for school. This is hell..

I live in Arizona and city I live in averages out to 110 degrees during the summer time. I know why my room is hotter than other rooms in the house. I always have my Dual monitors running as well as my pc and Xbox. So having an excessive amount of electronics running could be a huge factor for some people.

I absolutely agree with the window issue...we're going through a bit of a heat wave in western Canada right now. I just taped up aluminum foil on the outside of some of the east facing windows (cardboard / blinds / curtains on the inside)....we open everything up at night, close them during the day. Our attic has 2in closed cell spray foam with 60 cm of cellulose. We also have a portable AC but I have to admit, it barely keeps up (it's working on about 750 sq ft main floor)....my husband thinks keeping the attic hatch open will help (to let hot air rise) but I think we need to minimize the total air volume that we're trying to cool with the portable AC...

I have a sub struck issue in my home. It’s a west facing bedroom with a pretty lrg window. This room was actually one of the coolest in the house. Because I had 3 trees in the side yard in FYI t if the window. But do to over pruning I list all of the trees! Now every summer I gripe about how the need to replace the darn trees!

I live in a 2150 sqft rental with 2 units. The house has a split floorplan. One unit is for the 3 bedrooms and living room and the other unit covers the master bedroom suite, laundry room and kitchen. The front of the house faces N and the back faces S. The 3 bedrooms are on the west side of the house and are in an L formation with the 1 bedroom at top of the L on the N side. The other 2 bedrooms are on the S side. The bedroom with only 1 wall to the outside facing S is 7 degrees hotter than the room on the NW walls of the house and 5 degrees hotter than the room with the SW walls. All the vents are at the same level through the house and placed close to the window of each room with 2 in the living room, 1 of which is by the window and one is in the middle of the house. We spend most of our time in the bedrooms, so we have closed the registers in the living room and the hottest bedroom, but this has not pushed more air into the coldest room. Why is the inside room so much hotter than the others? It's difficult to have the heater on because this one room gets so hot but then the coldest room gets too cold. Being that this is a rental, what can I do as a renter to help? Any help is appreciated!

Every room in my house is comfortable in the summer except one bedroom which happens to be the farthest vent run from air handler. I can leave door open and that does help but when it's closed it gets stuffy pretty quick. I do have an inch undercut under the door and when it's closed I can feel air blowing out when AC is on. Do you think putting in a return grill in bottom of door would help?

I know why one room got hotter. I had a 20ft tall bougainvillea blocking the western sun off of the block wall and I cut it down. Replaced it with a tree and as soon as it grows another couple of feet, will have no more heat problem. Also, it's the farthest room away from the thermostat. I really wish they would position thermostats near where people spend most of their time.
