Last Epoch devs remind me so much about early Path of Exile devs, which is the highest praise I can ever give. Also I really like how they take ideas from Grim Dawn. Grim Dawn is one of the best ARPGs of all time for me, brilliant.

Holy crap really? I don't need a new character to play the new stuff? I absolutely love that! I love that the leaderboards are there and world firsts and stuff for the people that want that. I just want to see the cool stuff and I never finished leveling my last character

I'm glad to see the game progressing so well, although I don't give even half, or a quarter of a shit about seasons outside of new things they introduced to the game proper. I don't like feeling like I have to try and rush through the game again and again and then having my character relegated to a dead realm that gets little to no support. So I'm glad things are going to be available across the board.

I hate season in all games it just seems they do season because they really are lazy. when the season ends it all goes to a non season. Majority of the time you're character rocks in season but move over it no longer rocks because they adjust anything that was op or removed items that made it happen!

Everything. EVERYTHING you do in Last Epoch cycles you can do in Legacy mode, no differences whatsoever! Only differnce is that you need to start fresh on a cycle character, but contentwise it''s 100% same game on or offline, cycle or legacy. And that is what I love about LE!!

I respect a lot the decision to not gate content fully in the season/cycle. I for one didn't even reach max level with my character last season, and will be continuing that character. Would have sucked for great content to be gated behind me levelling again. I just don't have the time between my personal life and the other games I play.

we gotta give it like 5-10 yrs for it to truly blossom even when it's good rn, that's what it took for poe to truly shine.. Honestly it's not even that complicated, once these games pump content consistently over time, they just become awesome with so much shit to do.. Poe did it, warframe did it, and a couple other successful live services. It's about them staying consistent in terms of content and always listening to their playerbase(though this might be bad to do sometimes)

Potentially what is the most illuminating and encouraging part about this game, the team behind it is right here in the comment section for this video. It's great to see a tried and true ARPG (and other game) content creater and influencial player giving it the flowers the game deserves. But for me, what is even more encouraging is the fact that the players (original and new) in the comments here are mostly talking about what they like and the issues with the genre and the major studios that this team is addressing. Last Epoch is a game for me that has come as close to scratching my itch from way back in Diablo 1 and 2 (yes, I'm that old) I love to see it grabbing attention and (so far) honoring their vision and commitment to the player base not only of the game but of the genre.

The dodge roll is actually mint, it makes melee so much better to play

They're a smaller indie dev team. I doubt they have any ambitions for a console port any time soon. Also, do you really need that good of a PC? I mean the whole game is like 20 gigs. It's not like a massive 150 gig AAA game that requires a 4090 like Cyberpunk. You can also turn down the graphics.

I'm so exited let see how they done it this time. Especially this mana recovery on channeling is huge change for channeling skills.

I played the game when it first came out on launch day. I had fun. Made a hammerdin but I didnt make it to end game or end of the campaign as I hit a roadblock power wise and just couldnt progress. Game certainly looks better and will give it another try.

I think that like D4 the end game still wont have enough to do. The pinnacle boss stuff will be cool, but as you said you are guessing it will take 3 maybe 4 days to kill him.

Not yet, but the devs do want to add them eventually.

I found gloves that turns evade my evade into a fear, with extra dmg to feared enemies. I can't decide if I want my evade back or not as the fear is also some CC. Very cool how they even give me the choice

I know more than a few people who are worried that the story remains incomplete. Personally I don't play this kind of game for the story, but I understand my friends need that initial hook to get them playing. The game apparently seems unfinished to them? Any updates on story then?

Otherwise I cant really care about a game that otherwise has really good potential and was actually my go to ARPG prior to its release. Some maps in combination with certain builds just straight up weren't playable the last time I joined, with ele nova being the most obnoxious one.

My question too. A lot of stuttering at end game. They filled the patch with other updates but hid this issue under the rug. Also, combat isn't as robust as D4's where it feels more floaty. I know both games have their issues lol where each lack the other's strength leading to both feeling mid. My hope now is PoE2 having both strengths.

they finally did it, almost 2 years since launching the online servers they finally have them working. No more LE-65 error for me

i bought this in beta back in 2018. i remember playing it, then they changed the opening prologue part of the story and i haven't played it since... still thinking about it as it's in my steam account.... just haven't been able to get into playing anything lately.

I got into it last month and there’s definitely a lot to like. The Skills, level design, and most of the art direction are fantastic. However, I largely remain skeptical. I had an impossible time feeling connected to the characters, story, and dialogue. And I found tons of fidelity issues, animation glitches, and glaring texture inconsistencies. I got through the first Monolith with the Mage and overall the game was incredibly easy. I appreciate patches and small updates, but consistently changing game mechanics every 3 months is a bit worrying as it might be indicative of a D4-type scenario. But we’ll see!

Pretty much. The only thing that's currently exclusive to online cycle characters is the new pinnacle boss, which is going to be added to offline shortly. The idea was to lock the new pinnacle boss to online cycle characters to make boss progression more fair across the board, and eventually unlock it for legacy and offline characters once the boss was killed by an online cycle character for the first time, or a week passes without a kill. Well, the boss has already been killed and the devs were going to unlock it for legacy and offline characters in the most recent patch, but there was an issue so it's currently still locked until they sort that out. Aside from the pinnacle boss, offline gets the exact same content as online.

Evade button doesn’t seem to be available on controller as it can’t be mapped for some reason ?

Pinnacle boss was added on the next buisniss day after being killed so it shoud be active in Legacy (non season) already. (According to the patch notes anyway) the boss was killed on day 2

I really liked the game but I put it down after ~40 hours back in February, and decided that I won't return before they've finished the main story. I did not like how the story just...stopped. And we were told that more will come in time, but who knows how long that will take. Months? Years? Of course there's that endgame grind to keep us busy in the meantime, but that story cliffhanger really left a bad taste in my mouth. It's like, you're having the greatest sex you've had in a while, but right before the end your partner tells you to stop and wait for the finale before going away. A real bummer. 😑

I want to like LE but the controller input lags by 0.5-2 seconds for me, and the visuals are not very accessible (contrast between monsters and level design is too little) These 2 make it unplayable for me, even though I’d like to play it 😢

12:43 welp, no worry, Falconer is still the best class in the game even post-nerfs. First boss Kill was a Falconer and falconer are overwhelmingly present in the top 100 level ladder.

Its a decent game but i never got into it. I might try it again. Enjoy the season.

Last Epoch was the first game in years I was actually excited to get home and play after work. That being said, there's still nothing to do at the end. One pinnacle boss and 10 Harbingers is just another layer of RNG in a game that was already drowning in RNG hell. Unless the core item chase has changed; being praying for an LP version of your item > praying for an exotic to slam it with > praying the affix you want comes over and doesn't brick it... we'll be back to 2500 player/day averages in 2 weeks. Which, if that's sustainable for the dev team, then God bless, I just see so much potential. We need changes to the monolith and gear grind systems, not another boss.

yeah,, the gear grind is retarded. there's zero excitement for drops. getting a wf or ber rune feels great. absolutely nothing like that in le.

It only released on PC in February this year, before that was early access. No idea if it’s coming to console but I doubt it tbh, outside of PoE or Diablo I don’t know many arpgs like this that do

@@crash_jj yeah I’m aware of the release date I’ve been following the game for years. They were in beta letting people play since 2018 that’s along time to just be releasing the game in Feb. of 2024. They will also be leaving a lot of money on the table and excluding a massive fan base by not going to console.

They want the game to be more stable and complete on PC before they release it on console. I wouldn't expect a console release anytime soon.

I really hope this game takes it rightful share of the ARPG community.

Love how every season there is a legacy and cycle. They are giv8ng us a choice rather than force new character on diablo. I am a d2 lover and one thing i wished d2 had is something like this.

Best is to go blind :) I couldn't decide what build to go on in this cycle so I thought let me go blind and see what I canndo

Imagine doing cycles in a way that encourages people based on their competitive nature and not the content of the game being locked to it. Wild!

Fair viewpoint: more diversity in LE but combat is not as good as D4's where it feels more floaty. A lot of stuttering at end game too when there's more clutter on screen which, to me, deters me from playing more.

Here's my problem with this game: My vision isn't great and there's no option to scale the UI text. It's very small in some cases.

Are you talking about items? If so, you can make a loot filter and increase the font size, color, etc of every item. If not, I think there was a setting to increase the UI size. My bro had the same problem, but we somehow increased it. I'll have to ask him what we did because we were just clicking on random stuff lol.

@@erk8520 Just got home from work, myself and it turns out I didn't return the game even though have almost no time on it because of this issue. So... an example is the text explaining each setting in Settings. It's gray text on a black background and very small, so hard to read. I don't see a UI scale option unless I missed it, though I do see the loot filter in there.

There is an easy fix to your problem - play on a ridiculously large TV. I'm being dead serious, and honestly in the days of end stage capitalism you can prolly grab a 60" TCL with decent enough specs for like $400.

How me do loot filter?

Sad that now during new season it only peaked at ~71k, i.e. close to 4x less than during the launch

some seasons will be bigger in release numbers than normal. For example this last league path of exile had the worst retention ever. It's far better to look at the numbers after one year compared to the previous year, not cycle to cycle.

If we're being realistic, LE is not going to be reaching the numbers it saw at launch again anytime soon. LE was overly hyped on launch with many major ARPG and non-ARPG content creators covering it, which would have pushed it into the spotlight for a lot of players who never intended to come back for the seasons or who would never have stuck with the game long term. Maybe a year or two down the road when the game has a lot more content behind it, it could see numbers similar to what it saw at launch, but it's just not happening for the first season since launch. Regardless, I think we need to wait until the weekend for the true peak. If I remember right, the game launched at a similar time to when this season started, ie early in the week, and it didn't hit its peak until the weekend. Granted the first week was plagued with horrendous server problems so a lot of people probably were just like "fuck it, I'm just gonna wait until the weekend, I can't deal with this shit right now", but if I remember right the game only managed an ~150-180k peak during the week, then gradually rose to the ~280k all time peak it currently has over the weekend. Fairly certain we'll see the peak for this new season go up on the weekend.

Any1 else have issues logging in?

I will be honest. I came back to D4 for this last season and ehhh.. I am stuck feeling like there's only one or 2 ways to optimally play my class in D4. Last Epoch made me feel like damn near anything is possible. Looking forward to the changes

I agree, though at the same time it's like: LE makes me wanna play all these builds, but D4 makes me actually play all these builds. LE has one of the worst campaigns in ARPGs, whereas D4 is the most pick-up and play friendly games on the market. If we could skip the story in LE, I imagine the player concurrency numbers would shoot through the roof.

I bought it when it was released and played it for 2 hours but got bored and stopped and never touched it again. The story did not grip me. Animations, models and environment looked really rough too. I wanted to try runemaster beacause it sounded fun but no way I can grind through this. I play d2r almost every day and wanted to try something else for a change. I tried d4 but got bored after 1-2 weeks and stopped.

LE is boring for the first couple of hours. It was a Kickstarter project and that early game was a proof of concept that isn't worth going back and completely replacing. Trust me, I considered the game pure jank as well - but once it heats up the game is every bit as fun as the big budget bedfellows.

Well of course when it was released it sucked, so did Path of Exile to me. they made a ton of changes since then. It just sounds like you shouldn't play RPG's because they aren't your thing.

Easier to play on my 72" TV with console too. Plus game pass through Xbox is pretty awesome. Not to mention collecting consoles is way better than collecting computers.

I was considering this game, but I'm just not feeling it. The art style, the combat... they just fail to draw me in.

The bosses are how it should be. In diablo, you basically 1 shot everything. That should never happen. Making a game too casual is a bad thing. There has to be a balance.

Make it couch coop and youll get my vote.

There's been 2 things reported that have kept me from buying this game so far: 1) the bosses having a dynamic damage reduce in place, so it wouldn't really matter to make the best character you could make, instead having to make compromises. Seems arbitrary to the general idea of making a character that grows ever stronger. 2) Melee characters seem kinda kneecapped. This might be fixed with the general dodge for everyone? But it's nice to hear both seem to have been adressed so looking forward to diving in.

All of these games have boss scaling, even if it is cleverly hidden. How exactly do you propose to design a game without it? Also, let's be honest - it is the hours we play between bosses where the dopamine drip functions best.

I'm glad ARPGs as a genre are progressing towards more skill-oriented gameplay. Just being able to spreadsheet your way through content sucks.

I would recommend not to look through the build guides. This is not PoE and you can pretty well play on your own without the fear of bricking your character. Enjoy your way of playing, not someone elses.
