@@richwrites5683 Pure action/story-driven shows weren’t really my thing back when it was on (see: Samurai Jack, which I wanted to watch but it was past my bedtime despite getting to watch the other Cartoon Cartoon shows) and *now* the fanbase is so insufferable when recommending it to people that I’ve just avoided it on impulse. Like, I’m sure it’s really great and all, but you don’t see Invader Zim fans or My Life as a Teenage Robot fans or even Jimmy Neutron fans aggressively nagging people to watch them while saying the other Nicktoons on the network sucked as much as Avatar: the Last Airbender’s fanbase did and still kinda does.

Something that made me mad is that airbenders cannot fly when they have earthly attachments and then they completely forgot about that in the new live remake

He wasn’t really flying. What Aang does is use air bending to push and glide through the air; when he’s floating you can visibly see the air warping around him. However when Zaheer flies, he just straight up goes Superman and doesn’t need to bend air to do it. Aang can float around but can’t fly, so he uses his glider for more sharp ,directional flying. He does this several times in the animation

Exactly, he was legit flying, first thing I thought was: This isn't Legend of Korra, (a series that I personally see equally as good as the OG show, imo), where Zaheer took a long time of meditating, training, and actually broke free from all earthly attachments after everything that happened during the season, and was able to take flight, it was an amazing moment was blew my mind. But in this show...just, no, why, lmbo. 🤦🏾‍♂️🤣

It’s crazy to look back on the marketing for the show. The directors and writers being confident and saying “we made avatar the last airbender”. I believed in their confidence, mixed in with how much everyone working on the show apparently loved it. I convinced myself that the show was in good hands…. and THIS is what they give us ?? Also I’m so glad you mentioned the music. Some people really haven’t talked about it. But they absolutely used just some generic cinematic music sometimes and it was so upsetting that the music doesn’t feel like it comes from that world.

Yeah, I rememeber hearing that the original creators left the show, and I just knew something was wrong. The music is so iconic from the original, and then they just made it super generic here. Its really a big missed opportunity.

Music sucks af especially the ocean spirit episode. Can't even feel the impact of that scene. I can't believe I subscribe.premium at Netflix just to.get so much disappointed

Yeah the inconsistency about the sexism is very annoying. As a GOT fan, I am horrified by the idea of people being mean

Subbed, all they had to do, was follow the storyline from the OG series, they could change how the characters get to their destination, character growth etc, but not the end results of it, they could've put 3 episodes of the OG series in each of the Netflix episodes and it'd total out to the same length, they were lazy, and just didn't care about being true to the spirit of the show, as well as not incorporating any real martial arts, (apart from Zuko doing some flips and what not), to differ each bending form, as each nation is supposed to fight differently. The most frustrating changes to characters for me was with Bumi, Ozai and Azula. Bumi was way to angry, bitter, spiteful, and hateful towards his best friends, instead of being the humbled,funny,and intelligent,yet crazy,silly and strategic king he's meant to be. Ozai was so underwhelming, no real anger, fear, tyranny, I am not scared of him at all, he's to emotional,not cold and heartless as his show counterpart. Azula is supposed to be extremely intelligent, the best of anyone else who comes up against her, witty, fierce, competent, terrifying, yet calm and collected, and extremely good in hand to hand combat, as well as tactical planning, my favorite antagonist next to Ozai in the series and this show ruined her. 😞

Netflix Avatar feels like it was made for people who have y conbined attention spans of a goldfish and your average modern day MCU fan.

By the way, some people are still coping really hard on facebook groups and such that this show was good. xD When I ask them why it's good I always get 2 answers. 1. They "enjoyed" it. 2. It's not as bad as the Shyamalan movie (I think it's worse at times than the Shyamalan movie for the record) The cope is unreal.

this is not anime in 3 books. i thikn the series on Netflix was prety good. Noot like anime but this is a serie in 8 episodes. Probany it wil be new 2 seassons. Anda Avatar was in top 10 series in 30 countries for a several weeks

Something else that more so a nit pick for irohs live action is there’s not accent. Idk if that was how mako naturally talked or if he only did it when he did voices but he has a slight accent in the way he says things like prince zuko. When the actor says it he sounds… he sounds so white. And that’s not a race thing i just didn’t didn’t know how else to say it 😭.

I know this is crazy but I hated the movie less. I saw the movie for the first time a month before the Netflix show released so I was already expecting to not take it seriously, so I took it for what I kind of knew it was. But with the Netflix series I was actually expecting it to be…good?? I was more disappointed in the show tbh.

All of them were butchered. Even kyoshi is mad at him for running away from his duty but he never ran away!! It’s so weird that they made changes but didn’t even stick with them. It’s an easy writing choice to still have him run away, because the script still acts like he ran away !

It's hard for me to say if sokka is the most screwed over... They really.. they really messed everyone up... Katara was... Soooooo badddddd... So bad... Miss.. I can learn airbending from nonsensical... Proverbs? Ans im my own master girl boss.. ans im also trying to get the healers killed.. Suki was... Just, disgusting? Like, attacking Sokka for no reason.. basically just wanting d the whole time. Instead of being a warrier... Changing Kyoshi from a calm, level headed mentour to... The scenes of Katara were removed for seemingly no reason??? Come on, man... if they had all that, there would be like 8 more episodes just to cover Katara herself. The series, if you didn't get it, is a lot shorter to keep interest, and a lot more to the point. There are many arcs that could not be shown because of time. I am not saying the live action series is great... it is not. There are some things I did not like either, but some points you are hitting on just do not make sense. Everything you said about Azula is point perfect! I agree with every word. Then again... you start talking about how they put different stories happening simultaneously... again.. THEY DIDN'T HAVE TIME!!!

I see where youre coming from in terms of the number of episodes, but in terms of the amount of minutes, the netflix remake is even longer than the original series, so they did have the time.

I havnt seen it yet as I am going through and watching atla then lok and then the live action and yeah everybody says its bad except for my dad💀💀(yes he has seen live action and og and likes live action better)

Okay so while I don’t like the remake and I agree with. Lot of reviews and their points on why it’s bad. I also think there’s a lot of reviewers/fans that don’t get what made the show good in the first place to call it bad. I agree with must of the stuff in this review but the hate on SOME of the actors. I think most of what’s wrong comes down to directing and casting ngl I had to click of the video when bro said commander zhao! Was the best in the live action. I’m sorry but no one is taking that dudes seriously with that voice not to mention how much of a back seat he’s taken in this version.

@@richwrites5683 I didn’t get far enough to give my full on opinion but from what I’ve seen and what other reviewers have said he seems to take a back seat to azula. Who shouldn’t even be in this book to begin with, plus for me personally I’m just not a fan of the actor zhao in the original had a deep menacing voice and a temper to boot. This version of zhao seems more like the I’ll fuck you over but quietly type or to say something incredibly rude or disrespectful but when your not looking while zhao from the show would say it straight to you’re face with a straight face. But that’s how I feel about the interpretation and the voice didn’t help it got me.

Ok... when you talk about the humor of the series, you lost me. The live action is not supposed to be the animation! It is an adaptation, bringing the show to LIVE!! They cannot be in the same humoristic vibe as the annimation, or it would be considered silly... you would say it.. surely! In a very tense fight scene is not a place for humor... one is a cartoon, the other is supposedly a real representation... get over it.
