Why MINNESOTA & PJ FLECK Could Be in HUGE TROUBLE (What Is Going On?)

Ойын-сауық

A few weeks ago, Pat Fitzgerald was fired at Northwestern for allegations, but today, it came out that PJ Fleck at Minnesota could be the next man to face the fire. Today, I want to sort through the alleged details, give my thoughts and talk about what should happen, enjoy!

Yeah Fleck is a quirky guy, but I've never seen him as a bully or someone who would tolerate a toxic culture. Not a Minnesota fan either, but I knew about #RowTheBoat, the tragedy of his newborn son's death and how he used it to establish his coaching philosophy. The Gophers' program isn't for everyone, but Fleck seems like a solid dude who cares about his players graduating and becoming quality people.

Right. 50 year old me is not a fan of the excessive sloganeering, and I'm sure it is annoying. Players know that going in, Fleck advertises himself as "not for everyone". And I seriously doubt that a HC alone has the power to waive away a positive drug test. I would think that is reported to the AD and possibly the NCAA, with nothing much the HC can do about it. If it is true that a HC alone can cover up a positive drug test, that is a problem. But I can't believe that is the way things work.

There are a LOT of angry, disgruntled former players and coaches in college and pro football. If someone comes forward with allegations they should be able to back them up. Maybe an investigation is due but to suspend or reprimand a coach on the word of a former player is nuts. I bet every major college program breaks the rules in some area (especially hazing type stuff). There’s a small difference between bullying and being hard on a kid to get the most out of him.

That’s certainly a good question to ask right now. Iowa with gambling in May. Northwestern and Fitzgerald fired with hazing in July. Michigan and Harbaugh with a recruiting violation in July. And now Minnesota and Fleck with some different types of allegations in July. Obviously the gambling for Iowa, and hazing for Northwestern are serious, but the NCAA overreacted for the 4 game suspension for Harbaugh, and this entire Fleck situation seems really off. I don’t believe Fleck would tolerate this behavior within his program.

Players sometimes just don't get along with a coach, or are bitter because of a lack of playing time. The lack of balance of the Front Office Sports story makes it seem like a hit piece. Why didn't they interview more current and former players instead of just a few embittered ones who won't real their identities? The allegations are unsubstantiated. It's just an embittered few people who are saying this, so I don't think there is any merit at all.

I find the toxic culture and shit like that very hard to believe personally. He seems like he has one of the best coach-player bonds with his players in the whole ncaa. Those guys would run thru a wall for him and he’s had a lot of guys transfer and commit to Minnesota just to get a chance to play for him. Like 10 eastern Michigan players left to go to Minnesota when pj got the job if that doesn’t say something about the relationship he has with his players. He also turned the gophers from absolute bottom feeders to a team that wins 9-10 games a year and finished as one of the best teams in the second hardest conference in college football and has a statistically top 3 defense in the whole nation. Say what u want about his methods but u can’t say they haven’t been extremely effective
