Something to keep in mind for minimize strats is scouting for heat crash and heavy slam, as they are somewhat popular moves in the meta that hit for double damage and bypass accuracy

Yes great point, it was something to fear from Gouging fire and metagross match ups. Either go with the Blastoise mode or prioritize those mons with PZ and sleep

That Venusaur got so lucky with sleep powder landing. It was a 1.24% chance to hit them all. Edit: The wide lens makes it 2.41%, still very lucky.

Meowstic is my favourite pokemon, dont see it being talked about often so i love this vid! I just used it in the dlc as just as a reliable screen setter, it made all the story battles easy lol

Unfortunately the female form doesn't have that much going for it being just a pretty average psychic type.

I’ve actually fought against your smeargle team before and it’s so funny how heat crash + heavy slam can do so much damage against it. Gouging Fire 252 Attack Booster Heat Crash already does 50-58% to max defense max Hp Muk, so the minimize boost on Muk can instantly change the calc to a potential OHKO

Yes good point! Heavy Slam and Heat Crash are counters to the muk strategy so need to be prioritised with PZ or go the Blastoise mode if there are multiple users

My favorite Psych Up user is G-slowbro with not only Stored Power but also Shell Sidearm, which will become physical if you copy Atk boosts like Anger Point and Belly Drum. It doesn't have Prankster but it can run Quick Claw + Quick Draw combo.

This is something I could add to my numel team. The Numelo uno getting those boosts so fast (simple stockpile+eviolite to bulk, growth for atk+spatk and jist to get a free +8 in sun) while being able to avoid weaknesses with terastalization, is such a fast way to get such an insane psych up into stored power

Personally like to run Life Orb on my Shell Smash Blastoise. Have to have heavy amounts of support, mainly Indeedee and Pelliper, but man is it fun blasting Water Spouts with that much power.

If you go offensive then the power boost from life orb is the way to go. Since Blastoise on this team is a conduit for Meowstic to get the boosts white herb is essential

I've used Alolan Muk minimize Power of Alchemy strat back in Sun and Moon games but Z-moves bypassing evasion was a counter to that. Nowadays there's no Z-moves nor Dynantamax moves that would ignore evasion so you'd need Haze, Clear Smog, Urshifu first turn KO's that bypass protects (into muk), OHKO moves luck (always 30%, they ignore evasion), Topsy Turvey Malamar (reverse stats on target), Unaware pokemon (i.e. Skeledirge, Dondozo, Clodsire) or use the moves that bypass accuracy check in some way (Smart Strike or Thunder/Hurricane in the rain as examples, also Heavy Slam works against Mimimize perfectly well). Either that or a lucky crit that will land. Alternatively Imprison Protect or Taunting could help. Also Roar/Whirlwind will reset the muk while removing any stat changes it had alongside removal of Moody. Oh and Neutralizing Gas stops Moody shenanigans completly, as well as Power of Alchemy but Minimize on it's own can be pain to deal with.

I fucking- I fucking knew it was gonna be wide lens Venusaur. I just felt it in my bones. No one would put that much trust into sleep powder unless they had an accuracy boosting item. Lol

That sleep powder spam was divine punishment for DARING to use moody in a competitive format.

Yeah good plan. There are a number of counters. Haze, clear smog, roar all work. And Muk becomes weak to moves like heavy Slam and Heat Crash which will always hit too. Plus no guard is another answer

It would be a pretty good balancing move by GF to make Wide Lens have a secondary effect of ignoring evasion boosts, especially since there's no Evasion clause in VGC.

Fun fact: male Meowstic is the only Pokémon to get both prankster and skill swap so you can give any Pokémon I recommend Amoonguss so, you can use prankster spore.

In the future we will all play Pokémon with 1 contrary user, 1 simple user, 1 moody stat builder 1 ability like anger point & justifed water compact dancer & serene grace with moves like diamond storm that have 50% chance to raise defense with all our stats moves like mystic fire etc doubled by something like water pledge and fire pledge or yah serene grace one unique way to build stats while keeping the momentum of a fight going for each Mon/slot on ur team there’s also one way to build stats I wanna see be utilized spam negative stat moves for ur attack & special attack then use topsy turvey

If you Tera a Pokémon with adaptability into a different type do you lose your boost on your original stab? I’ve heard some people say that you do and some saying you don’t.

You lose the adaptability boost but keep STAB so it'll be 1.5x power after you tera instead of 2x. But the new type you tera into will be 2x instead of 1.5x which is a cheeky way to get super powerful coverage.

I want to have whatever that Venusaur and its trainer were having. I cannot even hit under normal circumstance not to mention +4 evasion 😅

Good question! There were relatively few good ghost types in the blueberry pokedex. But Muk resists ghost moves and has super effective knock off into them so they aren't too threatening most of the time despite being immune to fake out

It's because dark types are immune to opponent's prankster moves and not ally's. Also, allies can be hit by priority moves in psychic terrain.

I think Prankster ability works on ally dark Pokemon.

Hey foo. You probably won't read this but if you do. I have a fun team for you to try out. You would like this. So you need sneazler, blissey, and sinacha. You just need blissey to skill swap Serene grace to sneazler and make its signature move always give the opponent a status conditions. Then use sinacha to hex and heal sneazler. Not the best tactic but fun. I figure your better then me at figuring what else could make this even better.

i hate minimize with a passion but its fun to watch from the sidelines 😄

I think Stored Power being difficult or tedious to set up makes it fair, otherwise, Unaware can wall almost any setup sweeper with the right build and tera.

How does adaptability and Tera blast work?

If you change your type you lose adaptability boost on your usual STAB moves but gain adaptability boost on the type you changed to, so for example the tera fighting tera blast from PZ has 160 power instead of 80. If you tera into the same type as your STAB your moves are powered up 2.25x instead of 2x which is actually a very small proportional boost so I advise against that

I wonder how esperatha fairs with this strat

Espathra is a counter since it copies the opponent's boosts. Flamigo is a good team mate usually but wasn't in the blueberry pokedex
