Why Luke Bryan Apologized To Waylon Jennings Family

Ойын-сауық

Luke Bryan found himself in hot water after remarks he made about the Outlaw Country movement which included Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Merle Haggard. Members of Waylon Jennings family were not appreciative of Luke Bryan's remarks which ultimately led to Luke Bryan apologizing to numerous Outlaw Country music families.

His name is Luke Bryan. Yes, you’re right, both sing completely different kinds of country music. I am a fan of Waylon the Legend, and Luke Bryan. Articles written change the words around to make the editor look good, but the person giving the interview sometimes, gets wronged and that’s what happened. We aren’t comparing one to another, because each artist has their own way of singing. There’s no reason to say awful things about someone’s music. Luke made it right!

@americafirstpatriot9844, Actually, Waylon did just that. Country artists at that time had no control over their music. They were told what to sing and to keep their mouths shut about everything else. Waylon demanded that he wanted full control of his music or he would walk. He and the execs., with Chet Adkins, had a stand off for about an hour with nobody saying a word. Finally they gave in and gave Waylon what he wanted. After other artists saw the deal that Waylon got, they started demanding the same deal. Yes, Waylon made that happen single handedly.

I swear, I’m an old school hip hop fan. I shunned new hip hop and embraced “3 chords and the truth.” But with the advent of ‘bro’ country, I wonder, has it come full circle? Has the Rakim vs Lil Durk really turned into George Strait vs Dustin Lynch? Maybe we all need to embrace what we love, accept that music changes, and let it be. Don’t like it? Don’t listen to it. That’s the beauty of music. At least it’s not politics, am I right? 🤷🏻‍♂️

From everything I’ve seen of Luke Bryan, he’s a sincere person. When I heard the interview, I didn’t hear personal slurs…just what motivates one singer over another. But, I’m not a family member of Waylon. I am a big fan of outlaw country. I love that music. But, music evolves and motivation is part of that. I think it’s great that he apologized…it shows who he is. That it mattered to Waylon’s sons says a lot about them and about Luke.

Like Waylon’s son said, when you give interviews to the press or magazine, they slice and dice it, to make it look diffirent than what Luke Bryan meant. What would he gain from doing it? A lot of angry country artists and fans, that’s what. So, for Luke Bryan to step up and apologize, like the man he is, l think was sincere and heartfelt. Yes, l am a fan of Luke Bryan, but l am still a fan of the late great Waylon Jennings. He was a legend and will always be a legend. So, well done, Luke! Love you!♥️🥰

I'll never forget the day Merle died. I listened to Willie's radio station in my big rig. I gotta tell ya, it got really hard to see the highway for several miles. Merle Willie and Waylon were and are Country Music. Country Music would be missing the major part of itself, Luke Bryan is alright, but Merle Willie and Waylon are musical geniuses that made the Country Music scene for what it was in their day and every day to this day. There is too much of a pop sound in the Country Music genre today. And being more of a traditionalist, I am more at home with Patsy Cline, Marion Worth, and Jean Shepard. As well Merle Haggard Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Glen Campbell. I do like Kimberly Kelly, Jenna Paulette, Ashley Ryan though cant say I ever had much for Mr.Luke Bryan nothing personal against him, but to see that he is a man who recognized his mistake in the offense he caused and sought to apologize. That says alot. Bravo Mr.Luke Bryan, I may not be a fan of your music per'se yet you gain my respect for your character. May ADONAI bless you.

Heck I don't even know who this Luke Bryan guy is. Never heard of him. Waylon, Merle and Willie on the other hand are legends and their talent will NEVER be seen again. If Luke Bryan's music is anything like all the other new country music it Sucks. It's basically pop music with fiddles. Sometimes things said don’t always come out the way their actually meant. I have a friend who says all the time I say something and people take it wrong because apparently in my head I know what I’m saying but it comes out of my mouth differently and she always says I don’t know why that is . I don’t think for one second Luke was trying to knock the best country singers out there I think it was the way it came out that made people say that was disrespectful all in all I believe he was just stating he sings different songs then Waylon, Willie and Merle. Luke has a big heart has gone thru a lot in his life that by no means would he disrespect and country or any musician. What he said did not come out the way he meant it. Sometimes I would imagine when your being interviewed you don’t have time to think about what your saying. But after he said what he did he realized how it sounded and it bother him it was on his mind for several days. Bottom line is the songs Waylon Willie and Merle sang made them who they are the Best Country singers of their time and then some everyone loves them and no one could say anything to change that. I personally do not think Luke Bryan meant for that to come out the way it did

Country music is coveted as being three chords and the truth and all Luke Bryan did was speak his opinion and his truth. Shame it gets blown up so out of proportion! The fact the three legends mentioned in Luke’s comments have all made hundreds of remarks on their own drug abuse and outlaw lifestyles and seem to be proud of who they were so it’s a shame Luke felt the need to apologise for a comment he clearly didn’t mean in the context it has been taken by the family!

I can see where in the interview things got MUSSHED TOGETHER, the stress when your talking Rap one second and Country the next, throw in blah blah blah.....My love of country music of the past and the present seen to confuse a lot of people, ITS like i am NOT SUPPOSED TO LIKE ONE OR THE OTHER.....know the meaning behind "some" of the songs and what they represented at the time and now i still love both, but then again i like alot of different genres... I respect the fact that he apologized to the families and tried to make it clear what he meant, but sometimes the more you try the worse it gets.....accept that as it may be or not.

Sounded to me like Luke was bashing Waylon, Willie, Merle and some of the rest of our heroes for the things they did, minus the being in the gutter. I love ALL of our old heroes. Yes, they did things but changed their ways. I like some of Luke’s music. But, I don’t listen to alot of new country. Just certain artists and/or songs. Country isn’t the same anymore. I don’t really believe in labels. But, DON’T disrespect our heroes. They paved the way for the new stuff. If you have good music then it doesn’t matter. It’s ALL about the music. Just remember and honor our legacy, our heroes. They had a heart for their craft. It wasn’t for TWITTER LIKES AND MONEY.

Never have been a fan of Luke but I do believe he was being sincere in his apologies. One of the worst thing about his comment nobody mentions here is the fact that he is a platinum selling artist and he didn't even know the definition of an outlaw country singer when he mentioned it. The term outlaw country never had a thing to do with "cocaine" or being "strung out" in a gutter, or even doing time like Haggard did. It simply meant going against the system, the Nashville machine and taking creative control as an artist regardless of what anyone else says.

Yep. The CMA's wanted Waylon to sing a small part of his song and they were going to do a medley of other singers all in a short time span. Waylon told them, maybe I can just dance across the stage and go out the other side? That would give you a lot more time. They told him, you either do it our way or get out. So he left and never went back. Even when he was awarded the hall of fame he didn't show up. His son Buddy accepted the award for him.

I'm sick of the political correctness. It's ridiculous that people can't be themselves and talk about who they are as an artist and a person. He was just saying he's not like the outlaw country musicians. I've been to see Luke Bryan and I've heard his story I do not believe that he meant any disrespect . Out of the respect and the goodness of his heart he apologized and now everybody needs to drop it and move on. I will always be a fan of ALL of those artists. ❤️🤠🤠🤠🤠
