Most folks don’t realize that the Sheriff, as an elected Constitutional Officer, has way more power than folks realize. He has broad discretion to enforce or ignore laws as he so chooses. In an emergency, he’s usually the one in charge. Getting a good read on his stance, especially on 2A issues, is a good idea.

Depends the type of emergency, once State-level Emergency Management and response protocols are activated, the Sheriff becomes part of the Unified Command, where they'll handle part of Operations and be a portion of continued protection and order maintenance structure alongside the National Guard (a lot of the time the NG takes lead just due to numbers and position when activated, but the principle of function is there). If it's more localized, the Sheriff will have a main position in said Command Structure alongside any County or State managers and specialists that are tasked with response and providing information and deployment of assets like Municipal Services and such.

Very true. Local politics usually determine what local law enforcement will go along with as well. Just something for everyone to pay attention to.

The world is run by those who show up. Maybe, on my own, I can’t determine who is going to be the next PM, here. But I can’t whine about it if I do nothing.

I think learning law is the most important functional root of politics to study. It brings the muddy mess of liars and sickos into focus to study the three types of law, the codes, and the corporate statutes.

I’ve been about this for so long. this country wouldn’t be having the problems it does now if we had the same kind of separation of powers that our founders envisioned. We need to understand that the federal government should have no say or power in domestic economics, law enforcement, or people’s welfare. If you want free healthcare and handouts that’s between you and the State, not the Feds. Which is why we need to enforce a strong New Federalist Reformation movement if we truly want change.

I totally disagree. I think local, state, and federal are equally important for different reasons. Not the least of which is the ability for state and federal to influence or control local. Local is not the most important, and it is not good enough.

I live near Dodge City Kansas. During the summer of love buses of the lefts goon squad came to show Dodge City some of their love. It got shut down quick but a state trooper car did get beat up some. I live in a small rural county that only has a sheriff department. Localish county boys for deputies that are good dudes. I ride motorcycles with the under sheriff and we were at a friends drinking some cold ones and he was telling us about his chat with the state trooper that got his car beat up. Showing concerns of how to handle the situation if it was in our county with only the man power of 6 not counting state troopers.. Pretty much immediately the other 4 of us looked at him and said you call us.. I’m sure Dodge City Kansas was not the only smaller town the lunatic left tried to send their goon squad too. I believe they also tried Wichita, Salina and Topeka. All shut down pretty much immediately. They had warning they were coming.
