What is a pressure gauge?
A pressure gauge is a device that measures pressure in a compressed gas or liquid.
Why have your gauge liquid filled?
The liquid fill inside the gauges head acts as damping for the moving parts. As a result, any damage caused by vibration, pulsation and general wear and tear can be prevented.
Why are there yellow levers on the pressure gauge casing?
For pressure ranges under 363 psi (25 bar), gauges tend to have something called a filling plug. These plugs come with small yellow levers which are closed when delivered. You must ensure you open these when fitting so that pressure does not build up in the case. This pressure causes unacceptable high accuracy deviations for the gauge.

Thank you for video! Let me ask a question. I have WIKA pressure gauge model 213.53.063 (0...6 bar). I noticed liquid leakage, part of the liquid poured out - so I want to buy Glycerol Pharmacopoeia (99.8%) and refill. (1) In manual for my model series WIKA mentions both Glycerine and Silicone Oil as possible fluid. (Glicerine-water mixture I exclude because it is for pressures 0...2.5 bar, as mentioned in manual). So just want to assure that Glycerine, not Silicone Oil, is OK for my particular gauge. (2) Can I just refill the missed volume of liquid, no need to pour out all the remained liquid first? (the remaining liquid looks entirely perfect) (3) As I can see in your video, there is small air buble remains in gauge (liquid fills 95-98%). As I remember, mine was the same out of the box. Should I fill same 95-98% of volume, or can I fill it upto 99-100%?

So is it mineral oil? Asking because I have hundreds and if it is I'll drain all of them before I scrap. Mineral oil is just baby oil without a smell and has many uses. Looking forward to an answer if someone knows. Gauge only goes to 60 if that matters.

got a question for you i got a liguid gauge 0 to 60 and i got a 1990 k5 blazer got my engine rebuld i did some up grades and some mods to mt tbi so i need the gauge to set my regulator pressure and i got some to burn my chip i put bigger cam in it ..my gauge were reading 10 psi with the stock spring and i try to adjust it but it stay at 10psi so i were thinking maybe the spring were weak so i put in a 18psi spring when i frist put it in with no adjustment it was reading 10 psi ..so i started to adjust it and it went to 20 psi i were trying to get it to go to 14 psi so when i back off it the screw is not even touching it and it is still at 20 psi it as if it is sticking ..and when unscrew the gauge it dont drop down to 0 and it should what do you think

Burp the liquid rubber plug by opening it to release the pressure, then close it.

So if gearbox oil is leaking out of this lever, gauge is bad I'm guessing?

can liquid filled in 0-10 bar pressure gauge be used upside down or on its back, say if the gauge was connected to a flexible hose for mobile work
