kpop albums are just so creative and diverse when it comes to packaging and that's why so many people buy them to this day + the inclusions you get in them are just wayyy different from western albums

honestly it makes it a lot more sentimental imo, because memorabilia is memorabilia, and it’s fun to collect them while alse being able to get multiple inclusions and trade in a community.

some albums are truly so beautiful, I don't own any (broke af) but I would totally buy Red Velvet's The ReVe Festival 2022 just because of how beautiful it is another thing that is really nice is lightsticks, they really make an experience when watching a kpop concert

The lightsticks I don't really care for, but the album's look, including some behind the scenes stuff, and even some photo ops of alternative covers and even the group cover without the text on the album cover is a great inclusion to have to show what the album cover looks like before they finalized and shrunk it down to an album size and such.

That is a lot of effort for something most people would discard in the US. I haven't bought a physical CD since American Idiot came out. I remember a few CDs would have a small photo album in between song lyrics, but never a full on fancy book like Kpop does.

I one day hope I will have enough money to buy more Kpop Albums 😭

idk if this would help (also im well over a month late 😭) but you could copy paste the quotes into google and see if you find it. Usually when searching an entire line from an article it drops the article as first thing in the search.

Well I mean this kind of packaging has always existed in the US except it’s usually done for fan/limited editions. I think the main reason why US record labels don’t do this kind of extravagant packaging for albums on the regular is due to budget costs. Artists nowadays don’t necessarily bring in a lot of money like the artists from back in the day did and it’s expensive as hell to create millions of high quality 100 page photobooks and inclusions. Not too mention that US stans/consumers aren’t huge bulk buyers of physical albums like Kpop stans are so it wouldn’t really make any differences to the sales.

I think that I’m part of the minority people that buys albums because of CDs haha, I love to listen to them, because if something tragic happens and the internet of the world disappears, I will still be able to listen to kpop songs in my CDs💪💪 But I really LOVEEE the inclusions and ESPECIALLY the posters and photocards
