Why Kikuyu women are considered arrogant, gold diggers and hardworking | Culture with Gala | LNN

For years, Kikuyu women have been under the microscope with many claiming that they are cold, tough and headstrong hence are not suitable marriage partners.
On this episode of Culture with Gala, we debunk stereotypes surrounding Kikuyu women.
We get a deeper understanding of who a Kikuyu woman is and factors that have contributed to her becoming who she is today.

@mww4491 True with kikuyu community at least in a big way. What are the results though? Look around, take a closer look, look at the general direction this community is moving in terms of stability within family, morals, values, responsibility, etc..just look and honestly so. If you see nothing then come back and tell me men don't mean nothing to kids and more especially male kids in the society.

Central Kenya is largely Matriarchal and have "SPECIAL " children upbringing style that is totally different from other communities in kenya. Whereas I agree with what this elder is saying, my first-hand experience tells me otherwise! Kikuyu women are very hard working no doubt. From the Mau-Mau era, these women must be applauded for their participation in supporting men to succeed in chasing away the Mbeberu. I personally acknowledge them. I wish a Kikuyu man can be a bit assertive and authoritative to show direction and authority. Many Kikuyu men have no teeth to bite but a mere status symbol.Women do more than their men in every aspect including property acquisition. If their men were purposeful and intentional in other areas outside amassement of wealth that often never help them in maintaining good health than pride, Central could be the best in many ways than one. Otherwise kudos kikuyu mothers

Ai you have really put down our men our men are property buyers in fact Kikuyu women buy ING property is a new thing of the year 2000 ,before that it was men single mothers were few and they used to be renters with no property ,I know coz I had several teachers who were single mothers and my mother's workmates anyway women started buying property after they saw what happened to their mothers me been one you let your husband buy everything ,it's all in his name the day he brutalized you our mothers went back to their fathers house with all the kids to live at the mercy of their brothers, untill their fathers said you're msichana amerudi akae hapa kwa hii 1/8th karibu na nyumba yangu ,that's what started this movement of women buying 1/8th to secure ourselves incase

That is A LIE, its a SEMITIC nonesense being peddled here., GÍKÚYÚ is a MAN and ALL LAND belongs to THE MAN and the WOMAN is called MÚÚKA, one who comes into the MANS LAND and THINGIRA(house)! How can that be a MATRIARCHY in what sense? The Múúka receives only KÍADA(kitchen garden),land from the HUSBAND so she can grow whatever she likes and not get into a quarrel with her mother in law but the LAND REMAINS the PROPERTY 0f the MAN through his MALE LINEAGE-always SWITCHING from FATHER TO SON...NEVER to the WOMAN, because she COMES into HIS LAND and does not bring her own land!. There is NO SUCH A THING as GOING DUTCH-FIFTY FIFTY that is SEMITIC NONESENSE TOO! it has NEVER happened and is NOT Gíkúyú culture its SEMITIC and Gíkúyú are NOT SEMITIC or NOAHIDE(CAIN+SETH=NOAH) The Gíkúyú are NOT HEBREWS they are NOT ORIENTAL and are NOT ISRAELITES or JEWS. The Gíkúyú are OTHER sons and daughters of Adam and Eve. They were BORN AFTER SETH had been born and SETH intermarried with CAIN. The FLOOD DESTROYED the houses of CAIN AND SETH andf ONLY EIGHT of CAIN+SETH were SAVED. Why can't BANTU people take PRIDE in WHO THEY ARE and NOT run around trying to TAKE ON OTHER PEOPLES IDENTITIES that those other people are proud of but REJECT YOUR OWN? BANTU are Genesis 5:4 OTHER sons and daughters of Adam and Eve and NOT the father-mother of CAIN or SETH but A BROTHER, so this NONESENSE that the Gíkúyú are ISRAELITES is NONESENSE!-Genesis 10 shows clearly who Israelites are THEY ARE SONS OF NOAH via ARPAHXAD the father of SALAH the father of EBER(Hebrew) the father of PELEG, the father of Abraham, Isaac, JACOB(Israel) and ESAU(Arabs-GINGER BURGUNDY peoples)=JEWS in general. JAPHETH is the father of ORIENTAL peoples of North-SOuth East Asia and SOuth America; HAM is the father of CUSH=INDIA, MIZRAIM Egypt, PHUT(vandals-Libya Tunisia) and CANAAN=EUROPEANS and SHEM the father os ELAM(Persians of Iran); ARAM(Syrians); ASSHUR(Assyrians-Georgia and beyond) LUDI(ancient black Egyptians) and ARPHAXAD the father of modern JEWS AND ARABS. WHERE in that is a BANTU PERSON? THe BANTU are in Genesis 5:4 and DID NOT intermingle with NEANDERTHALS and DENISOVANS as did CAIN and therefore SETH, giving them STRAIGHT COLOURFUL HAIR AND EYES, unlike the BANTU who DID NOT INTERMINGLE with these ALIEN GENE Pools and hence have CURLY HAIR that proves they DID NOT INTERMINGLE with CAIN+SETH=NOAHIDES...ADÚ NÍ MEETIÍE NA ÚÚDÚ WAO matige gúetherera maúdú matarí mao ma kúímena! IF YOU ARE PUREL ABNTUS what is WRONG with that? WHY BORROW other peoples identities? EVER SEEN INDIANS or JEWS or JAPANESE or CHINESE claiming to be BANTU or Gíkúyú? WHY because THEY KNOW THEMSELVES and KNOW they are NOT BANTU people, WE ARE and PROUDLY SO! The Gíkúyú are NOT a MATRIARCHY, the KING of the LAND, the LAND LORD was AND STILL IS a MALE FIGURE, GÍKÚYÚ, and the WOMAN is the one who CAME into Gíkúyú's LAND and THINGIRA, so this "Hebraic matriarchal narrative " IS NOT BANTU and it is definitely NOT GÍKÚYÚ people! The HUSBANDS of the GIRLS did NOT DROP from HEAVEN, that is just a TALE, hence it is A MYTH. Gíkúyú had OVER TWENTY children, that is why he did NOT COUNT how many, because then he will EXPOSE how many children he has and that would expose HIS MILITARY that defends his homeland. COnsequently the SONS were RAISED from BIRTH in the FATHERS THINGIRA, which was located A LITTLE AWAY from the RIKO of the woman and her GIRLS. That was to KEEP the BOYS RIASED AWAY from the GIRLS so that when they were OF AGE they would marry each other, but they would NOT KNOW that they are marrying their BROTHER and the MEN would NOT KNOW that they married their sisters. So the MEN were raised by the FATHER in the FOREST and that is why they grew LOCKS as they had NO MOTHER to SHAVE THEIR HEADS as she had done when they were SMALL. AFTER the boy child began to NOTICE the FEMALE MOTHER, then the BOY was considered old and MOVED FURTHER into the FOREST where he would be DISTANCED from his mother and sisters, whom he related to as WOMEN to marry in future, but the MOTHER did NOT GO TO THE RIVER or to fetch firewood, as she had SONS, SO BOYS were RAISED by the FATHER int he DEEP FOREST as soon as they were WEENED from the RIKO, and from the MANS THINGIRA, where the MOTHER was henceforth NOT IN CONTACT with her BOYS. That is why the MEN LIVED in the THINGIRA with his SONS and the WOMAN lived with her GIRLS in her RIKO. The HOME was A WOMANS PLACE in that it was the CENTRE of the MÚCIÍ, where THE MAN and his sons would come to HOLD RÚRACIO and to INVITE the NEW BRIDES into the FAMILY, NOT because the WOMAN was the RULER. WANGÚ WA MAKERI was an ethno-anthropologiests narrative. The FIFITY FIFTY is a SEMITIC-HENREW- DUTCH narrative, there was NO SUCH A THING as a FIFITY FIFITY. THe WOMANS WEALTH belonged with her as long as she was raising children as RIÍGU RÍA CIANA CIAKE in case of a FAMINE OR DROUGHT or any CALAMITY, she would have PROVISIONS for her children. So that narrative is FALSE about FIFTY FIFITY!-"GOING DUTCH" That largest number of single mothers are Gíkúyú is because the MEN began to LEAVE HOME to GO OUT and FIND JOBS ELSEWHERE in the COUNTRY, and rarely RETURNED HOME but MARRIED wherever they went to work. The WOMAN kept the children because she HAD THE MOST WORK DONE by her and her children. The MEN usually considered themselves SELF SUFFICIENT and if they needed HELP it was said they were enslaving their childrten if they called on their children, they called upon THEIR CIRCUMCISION AGE SET to WORK the land with each other but NOT THEIR CHILDREN who were considered AS HELPERS of their MOTHER. Gíkúyú DO NOT WORSHIP the MALE! they consider the MAN as JUST ANOTHER HUMAN BEING not some kind of special HUMAN to be treated as if he were SUPERIOR to the FEMALE The women of "CIERO DUNE" is a SOUTH AFRICAN narrative and it is NOT TRUE of the Gíkúyú, these are FOOLISH accusations being made about the Gíkúÿú that DO NOT APPLY to them, except if they COPIED OTHER CULTURES but they are NOT Part of the Gíkúyú culture. I am a woman of African descent in the Caribbean. I have wondered about my tribal origin. The description given has confirmed to me that I am a Kikuyu woman. So proud to be a Jew of the bronze. It all came when I looked away from Christianity and asked the Creator to teach me his way. He brought me to Kenya and placed me in the home of kikuyu. He gave me a portion of there blessing. He gave me a view of the summit of mt.kenya and I knew his presence was there. It's amazing that he brought me to this presentation. I am thankful. My journey has only began.

It all depends with your character, its not about tribe its about the vision and what you want with your life. Personally I'm a Kikuyu but I've come across other ladies from other tribes and they're too doing great, its just a perception that the Kikuyus are hardworking, if you do a simple analysis you'll realize that there're those that're hardworking and there're those that're lazy, they're the richest and at the same time they're the poorest. So its not about tribe its about God's plan with everyone's life. Much love to every tribe in Kenya, I love the diversity💞

The wisest comment have come across from a kikuyu. Resist the attempt to profile either positively or negatively. You read most kikuyu comments you quickly read a stereotyped attitude, infatuated excitements that are quite shallow. Other communities been watching for decades and are taking notes. Wisdom is never a reserve of the aged. You may grossly be mislead and misguided even by the old in thinly veiled deceptions.

There are smaller tribes in Kenya, more religious, principled, hardworking and successful as the Hebrews. I repeat..small tribe. Do your research. Hebrews were and still are PATRIARCHAL, not matriarchal. We're cutting it a little too high for ourselves making us start imagining ourselves 'special '. Forget that!

Mahn this is just not for Kikuyu women but for all women. I have so much respect for Kikuyu women henceforth. Culture has favoured men since time immemorial. Even the polygamy that the modern men praise was just to favor men. Women had a lot of burden on their shoulders in the past. As a modern Luo woman, I celebrate the African woman for her tenacity.

I ust also add these stereotypes have been fueled by the sore election loss memories between Raila and kikuyu former presidents. Otherwise before that we were the best wives and still are hence why we still feature in almost every wedding show. God will always vindicate we the innocent.

My take home in this GREAT WORK, will be on the BIG cultural truths stated, that gets some uncomfortable to aid in healing for those healing from their life’s journey and also help end that which destroys in the name of culture or on the other hand empower that which aids as a solution from our cultures. We have to be comfortable to listen to both that hurts or empowers to be future solutions. Can’t wait for the Kikuyu Man cultural mindset about the role or should I say the place of the woman.

Its not about similarity kikuyus are Jews to be specific Israelites. Jews are not supposed to be white do your research. All bantu people on earth are Israelites. And the black people in the diaspora(Majuu) are Judah people they came from west Africa mostly during the slave trade and also there are people in west Africa who are from the tribe of Judah. We are all one according to the bible and what God said that he shall make Judah and Israel one. And also another thing people don't know is about the curses spoken of over the children of God that is the tribes of Israelites Isaiah 3:12, As for My people, children are their oppressors, And women rule over them. That is why you find many kikuyu women ruling over their households. Men should just stop complaining and know why things are the way they are and know how to deal with that so as to remove themselves from the curse and of course that getting in touch with their head and that is God. I always say when the head is sick the whole body is sick...that is if men are not Godly that means they are sick they'll be out of order and the are supposed to lead.
