I heard people saying Klopp and Arteta out online after the matches during the weekend. They are so ungrateful. Klopp ended Liverpool’s 33 year wait for a League Title and made them a title challenger along with qualifying for Europe each season. Arteta took Arsenal from 8th to 2nd over the course of 3 seasons and ended their 14 year wait of a UCL quarter final. These people only know to criticise even when they have not achieved much and never done anything significant in their life. It’s getting sad. I am a coach and when we lost a final on penalties people were coming to fight with me even though my team had never played in a final before.

Literally every fan has a voice in social media and that is a problem, because most of us are not the most sympathetic, fully mature people, we react like children with emotional screams to pain that we perceive from our team not living up to our expectations, some of us are 12 and younger and that reaction is fine at that age, but we see 30-40-50 year olds on social media melting down after a draw away...so it would seem normal for us to do the same. We need to start to relax and really take time before we start screaming on the internet about things we didnt fully processed or understood.

Which is why we also need to learn to ignore all that noise. We can choose to block out all that noise and if not, we can just step away from social media. People can have their say but that doesn’t mean we have to listen. A lesson from Keanu, is that even if they are absolutely wrong about something, we can choose to not engage them.

After the loss to Villa on sunday I saw ppl saying "Arteta out" like we'd just been mathematically eliminated from UCL qualification w/ 6 games to go. No, we did lose the game but all it takes is for City to draw one match and hopefully we'd go back top.

Thing with Klopp is as he has said himself, he's all in compared to most managers. Besides Moyes I have never seen another manager spend 30 mins on the pitch during warm ups before games. Klopp also comes out of the team hotel and signs stuff for fans before games, he used to spend about an hour after games signing stuff, he has up to 20 interviews and a press conference after games, then he would come out by the Shankly gates and it would be after midnight when he was meeting fans after night games patiently posing for selfies. After covid he stopped and the staff park under the stadium now anyway, but he is a 7am - 7pm manager who rarely gets a day off. The liason guy at Liverpool said he never switches off, even during international breaks he has his phone on throughout the night asking his players to let him know they're ok in different time zones. This guy said Klopp's work ethic is off the scale and he gets very little sleep. Eddie Howe is another who is supposed to work very long days, he's a bit younger though.

With Kloppp it also has to be considered that he is the type of manager adn the type of person that have never taken easy jobs with guaranteed succsess and spending power that outmathces all of your competitors. Every club he has managed - Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool were all projects that required long term comittment and patience to build something lasting. And Klopp probably is the type of person to like that sort of challenge but it also is extra draining in an already energy-draining job. And on top of that he is someone who forms close personal relationships with the city, fans and players. To give that much of yourself to your job for almost three decades, on top of the fact that you are often in a position where you have to recreate something new from square one from a footballing perspective and reach the same succsess, has to evenutally take it´s toll no matter how much you love it.

He joins those clubs so he always have an excuse when he fails. Never critices the owners when they are soending less money after winning UCL and league than the clubs who didn't even get UCL momey and are smaller than Liverpool. Just lame excuses for failures. He didnt even make top 4. Newcastle made top 4 with less money and new manger. Just lame excuses.

@@senti2175 Liverpool not making top 4 last season was probably at least in part down to him being someone who gets very attached to his players resulting in keeping them around longer than is good for the players or the club and him having the power to act on his willingness to do that. He had already proven that you dont need to cheat like man City to win trophies. Call it an excuse if you want. but the mistake on the owners part had nothing to do with spending and more to do with allowing Klopp to get involved with recruitment.

I've genuinely experienced this lack of energy on Football Manager. Took Barnsley to the Prem, financial struggles, had to sell my best players for a few seasons until we started regularly getting top 4. Eventually pipped City to the league title with Thiago Almada running the show. But then lost 2 champions league finals in a row and still couldn't get financial backing from the board. Didn't have the energy to go again. Took a sabbatical travelling around the world watching random games in Europe and South America. This was in 2021/22. FM never been the same since.

Great vid Jim. Learned a lot about intrinsic/extrinsic motivation during my last year at uni (doing maths weirdly - did a module on maths education), at the time I did a lot of thinking about how it could relate to coaching players and managing so this was super interesting!

when you realize many people were working at our club quitting jobs unexpectedly from Michael Edward to whoever I can't remember names, and then started coming back after Klopp announced he's leaving.., you know that something is wrong behind the scenes.

Reasons why Klopp is burnt out and leaving: 1) Lack of FSG backing. 2) He can’t keep the squad fit for more than 2 seasons. 3) He knows nothing will happen to 115 FC. 4) Darwin Nunez disaster signing 😭 No coincidence that Klopp is leaving in Nunez's second season.

2 things: First, too many games. Too many trophies you need to win. Experience in a football match is an extreme condition and it could bring either joy or stress. Both are not good in a long time and could become chronic. Second, player power. It's different to SAF's time. SAF has total control over players and in a team with big, complex egos like Paul Scholes, Giggs etc.. The manager still maintained his power. Look at Manutd now, average players like Rashford & Garnacho can express their distrust with EtH. It's an absolute shamble because sacking a manager is easier & less costly than selling a player.

I’ve been waiting to have a real mature conversation about this topic without the dismissive/ “ratio” mentality of Football Twitter. This is a brilliant outlook into what could possibly be going on with Klopp & I’d love to see more videos like it. ❤

To be a top manager, you almost have to have a screw loose somewhat. I feel the managers at the top level don't place much value on a 'normal' life. I feel Klopp is the most normal in that sense. A quote from Klopp 'I collect relationships, not trophies' which perfectly sums him up. Outside of football and being a manager, Klopp can be this normal person with a normal life, which can't be said for most managers. They'd be lost without the game.

Imagine taking a club that is in the trenches, being at one of its lowest places in all of that clubs history, and you succesfully turn them into world beaters with a hyper intense style of football. This would be the achievement of a lifetime, you've built a dynasty at a club that was so desperate for success. However, you're met with an opponent on financial steroids that just doesnt fall off due to their immense depth. Ofcourse its disheartening, it took an ungodly run of 26 or so unbeaten games with only 1 draw to win the league from that sky blue behemoth, and on two other record breaking occasions youre left in 2nd place with 1 point difference, probably knowing full-well that in a fair world you'd have dominated that league. I'd be depressed too.

Klopp is frustrated that FSG has not backed him with proper resources while City has been backed by infinite resources and the same could be said Chelsea albeit with different results. I must say Klopp never took on an easy team to begin with, he started his career in Mainz while Pep started at Barcelona and only coached Bayern after a fresh treble wins with Heynckes before settling in City. Pep is definitely an overrated manager the best managers in my opinion would be Ancelotti, Zidane, Mourinho and Klopp.

Even the genius of Klopp can't beat the financial cheating juggernaut of that which is Man City. He could only do so much.

This is a well educated and enlightened content. Well done James So many comments and replies are spot on. The "watch along" streams that are always criticising everything and everyone even if the team won at times, the podcasts, the needless interviews (though I'm an Arsenal fan but I really pray that Man United's players and her present manager will stop this asap) Ten Haag is a good coach, we saw that at Ajax and his first season in Man United. Even presently he's constantly competing pretty well in most competitions. But so many noises from him and his players. Arteta, Pep Guardiola, Wenger (when he was my manager) and some other managers absorb all the blames in public and they will scold the players privately and we don't hear anything from either the players or their managers. A perfect illustration of this can be seen in all or nothing program of Arsenal in season 2021/2022. Mourinho was/is constantly shunning some interviewers and sometimes walking away!) To add to this. In Medical psychology, this content affects everybody and we should constantly evaluate ourselves and once we notice symptoms of demotivation, depression (can be detected by "losing interest in pleasurable activities", "prefers staying alone" , sudden and prolonged lost of appetite) and burnout (fatigue, tired physically and emotionally), please visit a Psychologist as soon as possible.

I’m sorry. He’s paid 17-18 m per year, the third highest paid manager in the world. That’s a very well paid job that many young and coming managers are longing for. If we as normal working-class people are being scrutinised for our work and are one major mistake from losing our job, why would Klopp be immune from us? You could ask any CEOs for a Fortune 500 company and they would tell you exactly the same situation. You sound like someone who haven’t worked for a real workplace and sit inside your room doing KZread videos. Get real. Let’s not paint Klopp as a victim of his own failures as though the “pressure” is unique to him. He quits because he made a ton of mistakes on player transfers over the past two seasons because he thought he can do a good job without Michael Edward’s. In reality, he failed miserably.
