My wife, and 3 daughters (12,11,6) all started with a Carlson Gracie School in our local area and it has been life changing. We just earned our first stripes today and are eager to excel more. Love these videos that stress the importance of women's self defense. From a father and a husband, thank you for sharing this with the world.

My cousin just passed away suddenly in June at age 30 leaving his wife Rosie and 6 year old son Xander to now have a life without a father figure or husband . They live near Phoenix AZ . Xander is very shy and soft spoken he’s the sweetest little boy and Rosie is a wonderful strong mother who feels lost trying to find confidence and help to improve her sons life . He sometimes lets people push him around and doesn’t speak up . Unfortunately her husband my cousin was the only one over there in Arizona with her the rest of our family is in Texas . With me personally having two small kids I’m trying to get into jujitsu I realized it’s exactly what she would need to improve her confidence and his too . Xander and Rosie totally deserve to be given a chance plz reach out and I will get them to find a location in Phoenix close to where they live even if I pay for it .

I swear I was having the same exact dreams. I have a striking background as well and my punches and kicks where always ineffective. And I'm stronger than the average guy. However, after traing jiu jitsu I'm always victorious in my dreams. Crazy! I thought i was the only one experiencing this.

A really important framework he uses is distinguishing between a Match fight, an Ambush, and a 3 Second fight (that happens through aggressive or deceptive dialogue). Each are different enemies, with different motivations and need a different response.

In a 1 on 1 scenario with no weapons, BJJ is the best form of self defense for everybody. And it’s not really the submissions that are the big picture. It’s that when I’m grappling against somebody, I can greatly eliminate potential threats to me by controlling my opponent’s body. With striking, you’re simply reacting to what your opponent does. With grappling, you’re stopping them from being able to do it in the first place.

I grew up doing Taekwondo and I only learned a few things that ever helped me in a real fight (front kick/side kick off the front foot, getting my head and body out of the way of a punch/kick and an instep kick off the back foot to the knee of someone coming towards me). We play a lot of Rugby here in Australia so my go-to whenever I got into a fight was basically a double-leg take down onto the nice hard cement. At the start of this year I started doing Judo which naturally led me to BJJ a few months later. Feel pretty confident I would be fine if anyone came at me on the street but I wish I'd started years ago because it's great fitness, it's a great community and I love competing.

I don’t study BJJ but I agree.. When women are attacked, it’s not “hey I challenge you to a fight think you so tough ??” (leads to a stand up start)... When women are attacked they are often on their back on the floor or pinned to a wall.. Exactly the arena of BJJ or grappling.. A woman that knows her way from a pinned initial engagement is more likely to escape the engagement.. I have yet to see an assailant man go to a woman “YO if I beat you (in some combat), can I bed you ??”... Having said all that, BJJ won’t be as effective being gang attacked, whether female or male. Which case Smarts-Jitsu is your best option.

No. Jiu-Jitsu is not the best self-defense system for women (nor for men). It is a very good system specialized in ground fighting, but it has its limitations. In fact, GJJ/BJJ is just another piece of the puzzle. That's all. In the real world, there is no such thing as one system being the best and superior in self-defense. And when someone claims that, it is nothing more than marketing-propaganda.

honestly, i cannot see how BJJ can be helpful for a tiny 50 kg woman. At least with striking she has the chance to hit the knee and run away, but grappling with a a 70-80 kg man is a suicide! unless she maybe reaches a purple or brown belt level, but even then the opponent has to be pretty unskilled and non-athletic for that to work. Sounds like a GJJ propaganda.

Modern day MMA is unrealistic and gives a striker up to 5x an advantage exclusive of hand wraps. Dreams are the key to our reality. The imagination is more real than our physical world because everything has to first exist mentally before it can exist in our physical world which is just like a stage. The brain is just a cloak for our non physical mind which is attached to our soul. The Astral Plane is the subconscious mind ( the right side of brain which is 99% more powerful than the left conscious rational side ) and constitutes the overlapping area of the imagination, thoughts, intuition, dreams, feelings etc. Every time we dream or imagine we are travelling into a real world ( attached to our physical body by the umbilical cord of our soul ) where demons also live. The Astral plane is interlinked to planets, which are self illuminating lights of plasma, the homes of demons, which travel through 1 of 4 main elements ; air/fire/earth/water ( the periodic table of elements are just the 4 REAL Elements derivatives ) and manifest behind the static rain of our vision ( its a veil like a curtain ) into our physical world. Google is satan, the demons can access proxy. They are all around you but you never noticed ; obama, melanie trump, the queen, david cameron, boris johnson, hilary clinton, the old lady at the store who cursed you out, mark zuckerbeg are all real living breathing demons made of plasma, as they can take on any form as inter-dimensional shape shifting entities and they are living on earth permanently having been summoned by their human magicians, just like in Babylon and ancient Egypt where Magic all began and so too then did the Djinn walk and rule among mankind. 'Aliens from other planets' is a Hollywood invention and hence the 'Alien invasion.' Candles and incense are the highest technology, electronics etc. are their products There is no such thing as oxygen, God, Light, Soul and the Sun are 1 and the same, the Sun is the dispenser of Light and it is in the Air that we breath, hence the fifth Element...... Spirit.

A lot of what is done in mma and sport fighting is not gonna happen in a real fight against a brutal determined competent enemy. You are not going to use any of this against someone that can pick you up with one hand let alone multiple attackers.

Because jiu jitsu is a joke! It's soft and low risk. Even an average weak guy can beat up a jiu jitsu black belt master.

If youre under the illusion that striking is enough for a woman, watch Germaine derandomis fight with that TV presenter... He had 0 experience and hurt her many times, and he was a small dude... A world class female kickboxer might get fucked up by a random dude off the street

Borders, the gallows for violent criminals and firearms rank ahead of BJJ. That said sure, if they are to choose a martial art it's a good pick.

No the hell it isn't! You people are thinking tournament rules too much and not STEET FIGHT enough. The last place a woman wants to be with a man is in a grapple! Muay thai boxing or krav maga are best, strike hard fast and get away! The goal is to NOT get in a grapple in the first place! MOVEMENT AND QUICK PARALYZING STRIKES!

Because agressors know about woman weaknesses they will grapple, they will not wait for anyone to punch them like in a boxing match. That's why a woman must know to defend grappling atacks because they are most common ones.

You MAY have one stripe on a white belt having made that comment. A strong punch from an average man can injure any martial arts skilled woman from a distance. In a grappling situation not so easilly

@@juntjoonunya9216 dude shutup, average man would floor a female bjj black belt with one punch. You and everybody else aren't thinking STREET FIGHT! She has to get a solid hold on the ground first and if a woman is even on the ground with a man she's 3/4 beat already. It's about survival, strike hard, fast and get away! Womens self defense needs to be revised,it's developed with fighting men in mind so it needs to be quick and violent escape based,NOT WILLINGLY GOING AND LOOKING FOR A GROUNDED ENCOUNTER. The woman in this video would get her ass whooped in a street fight using just bjj,are you serious.

I'm pretty sure a gun is the best self-defense for a woman.
