I remember playing on Mineplex for the first time 8 years ago in 7th grade just to play some video games. But then a couple years later, I started making more friends on the server, and it grew on me so much. It’s just sad to see Mineplex shut its doors, and it’s been almost a year since it happened. Now I am a junior in college who will transfer to a different school next semester. I just hope to see Mineplex get back on its feet one day.

Go to the latest bedrock preview(as of today), scroll down and click on the minecraft feedback link to the new player screen, you will find that mineplex is the example UI

My friend actually just showed me this not too long ago! I find it very interesting that the games are ones that I'm not aware has people recreating it. Maybe they used that as an example, or maybe I just don't know about the studio doing BH and Mob Arena.

I think that the java minigame scene is pretty much dead right now. it's not like the old days where it was the most popular thing to do in multiplayer, with plenty of servers with unique gamemodes to play. it seems the only ones with a chance of catching on are the ones with content creator backing like hoplite and mcci. i'm really hoping mineplex's resurgence will increase the demand for minigame servers again.

yeah for sure MCCI and Hoplite has creators, but you notice it's not really that big creators. MCC from MCC Championships but a majority of that audience is likely bedrock.

dude I've been saying this for like 3 years now, people won't try any new servers because hypixel is so big that they think "why play on this new server when I can just hop on hypixel?" and it's insanely frustrating as a server developer because unless you know some youtuber with tens of thousands of subscribers or pay stupid amounts of money to even try to advertise your server (which in most cases doesn't work at all, and new servers end up dying in the long term anyway) there's really no way to make a successful server if you're someone like me who just likes the game and likes to develop game servers as a hobby

If people found the servers fun, they will play them over Hypixel. Hypixel does not own a monopoly on anything other than skyblock which unfortunately hasn't been outdone by anyone notable on 1.20, minigames as a whole are dead Every new game that hypixel has released in the past 4 years has flopped

yeah maybe if mp would ever update the crowd. its very difficult to hope for something that has been promised time and time again, yet the leadership doesn't change the ways. "soon tm" trend continues. even with samito... idk man.

I made my first KZread video on mineplex 8 years ago and this summer I’m returning to content creation and when mineplex returns I’ll be making videos on that because I enjoy multiplayer Minecraft and I hope it will help mineplex rival hypixel for the first time in what feels like a decade ❤

Great video, but the reason MCCI and Hoplite aren't attracting more players has little to do with Hypixel players enjoying 1.8 (a demographic that has substantially diminished), especially when 80% of their player base focuses on non-PVP game modes such as Skyblock. Hoplite and MCCI actually have a significant advantage over hypixel by being on the latest version, where there are millions of more players. Additionally, both servers are essentially just Hypixel UHC and Insane Skywars copies, just with a few new blocks/items, a new combat system, and a shiny coat of paint that doesn't exist on 1.8. The truth is that the general public is tired of the Minecraft minigame genre that has existed for over 10 years now. The new meta is survival worlds/SMPs (the kind of content that gets views on KZread, not because of the algorithm but because people like it) and/or an open world gamemode similar to Skyblock, Prison, or Factions. We're also in a new age where if the kids of today want to play minigames - they aren't playing minecraft anymore, they're playing roblox.

tbf though all hypixel is at the this point is SkyBlock, they don't put much focus on the minigames anymore
