Bending the ball into the goal is easy, the issue is you have to get it past the keeper and the men defending on the posts. Any middle school soccer player can bend the ball into the goal, it's not a hard kick.

For someone who attempted it most likely well over 50 times of course it is, even this guy was able to get one in after a 100 tries, but to get that beautiful form of consistancies takes hundreds upon thousands of tries. One hundred percent, don't even need to know you, but if I had you do it right infront of me 100 times, ten times in a row, while giving you a 5-10 minute break after each ten, I can most likely only expect you to accomplish 60 out of 100 if even that. Assuming if you are even a soccer/football player.

You would think all ten outfield players could take consistently good ones, but look at the amount of teams who don't have one player who can take them. Beckham built his career on having the sort of accuracy you're describing every pro player having.

For a professional footballer, it's not that difficult. The main obstacle is the keeper and defenders, not curving the ball that minor amount.

This video is a real bummer for this series. It's not almost impossible for any reasons stated by the video, it's almost impossible because defenders and keepers typically aren't stupid. what made this series good was that they picked things that people haven't done yet but are theoretically possible, but this has been done at every level of play plenty of times. Disappointing upload, football/soccer debate aside.

That is very true. However, those goals can be created very easily if they tried. In my team we score those goals 3 or 4 times in a season during official games. The only thing you need is confusion. You make the cross, you mate goes for the header and then lets the ball go. That’s how we do it and it works very well.

This trick is a great option to train and apply for teams that lack tall players, where there's low chance for the attackers to win aerial duels against tall defenders

The ONLY reason why it's so difficult to score from a corner kick is because the goal keepers are not idiots OR the defenders are idiots and whiffed on the ball (like Becham's goal). That's why this happens so much in youth football (soccer) and you put people on the front and back goal posts.

Your problem in this video is mainly the strength, you're not kicking it hard enough to make a big enough curve. Tbh, a curve ball isn't that hard for any experienced player. What is truly hard about scoring a corner goal is to trick the goal keeper.

This. Every professional player can score into an empty goal like 9 times out of 10 the problem is that it's too obvious and the GK will see it coming.

Yeah this video is informative but it misses the point. They are not impossible to do. Its actually quite easy to bend a soccer ball. This happens quite often in 11-14 year old youth soccer because keepers are either not skilled enough or simply not big enough to defend against it. As keepers and defenders get larger and better they will save a ball served like this 95% of the time. The attacking team has much better odds if the ball is served to an attackers head. Probably around the age of 14 or 15 the best players on a youth team usually learn to stop doing this because it is seen as a waste of an opportunity and as a rather selfish move.

I've done it, making this the most absurd video in this series.

Şükrü Gülesin scored 32 in his pro career.... It's not a terribly hard shot to make, but it's hard to get in on a match because of the GK... normally it happens when other players get on the way, creating confusion

"Why It's So Difficult to Score a Corner Kick Goal" would've been a much more appropriate title. It's not remotely impossible and can be recreated consistently if the player has practiced. In a game is a different story, but that's not the context of the video. It's cool to see the aerodynamics of the ball, however! The physics of sports is an interesting topic.

Thndrstrike While that may be the case, it's certainly not formatted in a way that makes it appear so. Often, a series name will be seperated within the title by a | or some other mark. Even if it is to save space, it would be dishonest to claim it's not misleading to the average viewer. I want to watch these videos and I enjoy them quite a lot, but the titles set a certain expectation - one that was not met with this particular video. I would hope they'd be more clear so that those unaware of it being a series name (like myself) would know what we're getting into.

lol this video is completely missing the real reason, I've scored like 3 times by accident when I played youth football (when the goalies are literally just too small). The real reason it's impossible is the distance and angle giving the goalie a ridiculous amount of reaction time and only having to cover a little bit of ground.

Yup, when I played defense, that was usually my job because I was so tall. Cut down on the angle dramatically and gave the goalie room to operate in the most likely threat zone. Honestly, scoring on a corner kick is a pretty rare event anyway, even if it's off another player's foot or head.

I coach a boys team. Everyone is 14-15 years old. We had a test on this 2 weeks ago, and within 20 minutes, all 19 of our players did this. Even the goalies. Yes, it is hard to score during a game, but simply getting the ball in the goal (without it bouncing) is not difficult.

We (ie. the people who invented the sport) called it soccer (an abbreviation of "association football") before the Americans or anyone else did. I do it in fifa at least twice a month

Also another reason you never see it often is because most people don't even try it, they just cross it in, which is the more sensible thing to do. If you look at the tried attempts, you'll actually see most of them went in. If a pro tried it in a real match, there would be quite a high chance it would just go in.

i once scored a hattrick with cornerkicks.. i think you don't need to try to explain everything, especially people who call football soccer

Good to see all these comments. If you played for a team and you were alright you could have either come close to scoring one or scored an actual one, two or more. Sure it has some luck involved, but the 2 most important ingredients are your skill, and the goalkeeper's position. You can't always try and go for one, but this is where your teammates can help you out by blocking or slowing down the keeper. This video makes it sound like you can only see it on the tv. Even I had 2 and I'm a nobody's 7th cousin 4 times removed lol

Yeah, we can easily see you haven't played soccer (FOOTBALL) since you were a kid. Scoring a goal in football is difficult, period.

Scoring a goal in football is quite easy actually, the goals are big and hard to defend. The only problems are crappy teammates and nervousness infront of the goal.

I’ve done 3 in a match

Fun fact there’s only ever been one Olimpico in the olympics. It was scored by Megan Rapinoe in 2012.

It's not almost impossible, it's simply rare for all the obvious reasons many people have already stated in the comments.

Darrell Green she’s a bit of a United States Women’s National Team legend. She scored a penalty against China in the 1999 World Cup to win the game. She’s really well known for her celebration, where she threw her jersey off and slid to her knees.
