I bought a new opener and it’s still doing it. Good to know we’ve now narrowed it down to faulty wiring

Can you press the learn button on the wall control or does it have to be pressed on the back of ceiling mounted the opener? How do you access the opener Liftmaster powered by MyQ?

I never use the remote, I've programmed the buttons on my car to open the door, and sometimes when I leave, I come back and it's open. More often though, I wake up in the morning, and when I go down to the garage, it's open. I only use the button on the wall and the button in the car. Why is this happening? Argggghhhh!!!!

My wired liftmaster wired door opener button has stopped working (button model 883LMW). The light is on (solid greenish light). Just doesn’t open/close garage door.

Help, Might have a short cuz my wall mount stopped working, the light is off and there isn’t a short or loose wire anywhere. Garage door keeps opening while at work and I’ve had a tech over twice over the last 2 years

so i erased all teh remotes and Myq from working....and the video ends with out telling me how to pair it back? This frist half of your video was well done..when will you issue the video to get you back working? Thanks

Hi! This is definitely happening to us where we’ve seen our clicker open another garage door and asked them to reprogram their device and we reprogrammed ours but how it’s happening where our door keeps opening more and more . When you erase the programming as you instruct would that erase any and all devices to include any neighbors who might have ours programmed with theirs?

This just happened to us at 2-3:30 in the morning. After inspecting the garage with a flashlight and knife in hand, I went back to bed. Then it happened again, and I woke to find my wife downstairs. She woke from the sound too, and was looking out the front window - she could see the shadow of the garage door on the driveway. It was opening halfway, and then closing again, periodically. So we knew there was something weird going on with the electronics. I went outside, and saw it happen again. I checked the youtubes, and found this video, which got me thinking - what about the portable controller in the car? I opened the car door, found the controller in the door handle well, and took it out to find that it was wet. My wife confirmed that when she went through the drive through earlier in the evening and opened the window, snow fell in. I opened it up, popped out the battery and dried it up best I could. It’s now drying overnight on the counter. Problem solved. Thanks for the video! I’m writing this at 3:40am hoping that maybe all this writing will help me to fall back asleep.

Ok, now how do you link your garage door again?

Mike my garage door opener..a newer Liftmaster opens the door by itself...I tried reprograming the remotes..still the same..what do I do now?

I have the same problem. I had to install an IQ devise so I get a warning that the door is open. Erased codes 3 times and still Lift master failed, crap.

Try disconnecting the wiring that leads to the wall switch from the back of the motor. If the switch is faulty or if there is a short anywhere along the wire, that can cause it to open. Leave the wall switch unplugged for a while and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, plug the wiring back into the motor and disconnect the wiring from the switch. If the problem is still fixed, your switch is faulty. If the problem comes back, your wiring is faulty. I’m having the same problem and that solution seemed to work for a while but it has come back sadly.

@@smora754 I just installed security cameras. It’s just weird how that happened just on that one night! Be safe have a wonderful holiday.

I discovered my dog was the culprit. I had programmed an extra remote while my dog was nearby. He is microchipped. It took two days to figure out why the garage door was opening and closing on its own. Fortunately I have a very smart son-in-law who asked the right question "is your dog microchipped?".

It’s 2:30 AM and here we are 😢
