Hi David, Yesterday I had the pleasure to buy a number of gorgeous, vigorous, healthy Overdevest shrubs from an independent Amish-owned nursery in this area. Japanese 'Katsura" was beautiful and a new one for me. The very best time to buy plants is NOW before the plants get a little worn, knocked over by customers who move them from the drip lines, or nurseries that don't water in a timely manner. After all my years of gardening, I can say that plants that get mistreated, man-handled or over or under-watered just never fully recover. Fresh off the truck from the grower is my aim. Btw, what is the origin of the Overdevest name?

Thank you, that is nice to hear. Together with our retail partners, we try to get in fresh loads every week. The nice thing about that is that you can visit regularly and always see something new, and because there's a ton of plants that flower and look nice all through the year, it is useful to stop in and scan the displays to secure things that you maybe wouldn't have known about if you only shopped in spring. Fyi, here's a link to the plant you bought - hopefully this will help with a little more information: kzread.info/dash/bejne/o356sNZrlNvflsY.html And also, here's a link to our website that explains our story: grownbyoverdevest.com/our-story/#our-story You will see, we truly are a family business made up of many families all working together to try to bring the best plants and gardening success to other families in our region. Needless to say, we LOVE what we do, and it is great to hear that people like yourself appreciate the effort.

Bought two chaste trees last year because lilacs don’t do well in Oklahoma. Hoping it will flower prolifically this year. Thanks for the video. You have significantly expanded my knowledge of pruning.

You are very welcome, we are pleased to hear it proved helpful. The buds on our Vitex are just swelling and haven't broken out yet either, so it is early for them yet, but you should start to see some action shortly. As you've probably noted, this selection was developed in Chicago, and the added hardiness is welcomed in colder districts. We are wondering if you have subscribed to our channel? If you haven't yet, can we suggest you think about it, because we are posting new videos all the time, and once you are subscribed, each time we post a new video it will turn up automatically in your feed. And if you are finding our videos helpful, it would be wonderful if you could kindly share the links with your friends and click the "like" button too, because that helps other people find the information as well. Finally, FYI, our partnering garden centers in PA: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ are fast, becoming fully stocked with lots of fresh new plants, so be sure to stop in and take a look…. Because that’s where you will discover all sorts of our beautiful, tried and true and cutting edge, top performing selections like David features here on our channel.

If it’s only been in the ground for one season do you still need to prune it?

Yes, trimming them early in life will help to make them nice and bushy. Have you subscribed to our channel? If you haven't, you might like to think about it, because once you are subscribed, each time we post a new video (which we are doing all the time), you will find that they will turn up automatically in your feed. And, as you find our videos helpful, it would be great if you could kindly share the links with your friends and click the "like" button too, because that will help other people find out about the information as well. And, now that we are in the midst of the main planting season (spring through late Fall) try to visit our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/. They are located all over our Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern region, and that's where you will find all sorts of beautiful, tried and true and cutting edge, top performing selections, so be sure to stop in regularly throughout the seasons because there will be a steady stream of fresh shipments coming in weekly.
