Answer. Government is the reason why healthcare is such a mess. Why would we want more government intervention?

Our government cannot run the DMV or most government run programs correctly. Why should we think it could run healthcare efficiently. Just my 1 cents.

Germany here. Our healthcare system is far from perfect. We don't have enough medical professionals, the ones we have are overworked and underpaid, to see a specialist such as a dermatologist can take up to 9 months,... we don't prioritize health as much as we should. BUT if I would break my leg tomorrow, have to go to the ER, get surgery and a cast, physical therapy afterwards, miss work for many weeks I would have to pay a maximum of 300 Euros out of my own pocket. I would get paid fully for 6 weeks and after that I still would receive 70% of my wage. I wouldn't have to worry about my rent and other bills and could completely focus on getting healthy. Knowing that makes every day life so much easier. I gladly give up a part of my wage to provide this benefit for every single person in my country because that's how a community should work.

After 16 surgeries, I am so happy to not be bankrupt because I live in Canada. If I lived in the US I would either be homeless or dead. Ironically, I work in health care for an American company. However, we work primarily with marginalized populations to create equity in health care.

So many things are controversial in the US - from Health Care, to gun laws, to LGBT rights

Actually ask a veteran about their VA system .

How about affordable Healthcare. You want nutty gritty. We live in a government sponsored monopoly. If we could actually make it more affordable we wouldn't need universal. Because universal Healthcare aint it. Ask any military member what free Healthcare is like.

I haven't been to a doctor since 2015. I've had a full time job since 2019. I don't get insurance through work, because I somehow don't qualify, despite being there for nearly 5 years and working no less than 36 hours a week. If I could afford it, I would go, but I just can't. Back in 2013, I had to go to the ER unexpectedly. That trip cost $200k, which was sent to collections. Luckily, I got that cleared up. Being healthy shouldn't be exclusive to the 1%. But I also understand the arguments from the other side. I do think it would cause a ton of problems. But, I need to see a doctor. I don't know what to think to be honest. I can't seem to pull hard enough on those boot straps.

Don't really see how your health is anyone else's problem, nice bait.
