I work (in admin!) at a Timeshare sales company and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard men specifically use the “Sell me this pen” line on each other. They also sell crypto to each other. They all scam each other constantly and every one of them walks around telling every one who will listen how much money they make and how good they are at sales which is the art of convincing people to buy something they don’t need. They all try to convince each other that they are Leonardo DiCaprio. Normal, not-sales people look at the character and think “What a disappointing human being” but male sales people see the character as aspirational.

About nudity in movies - I think it depends on the movie and the context. I won’t say categorically that there shouldn’t be nude scenes in movies but I have seen tons of unnecessary nudity and intimacy where the suggestion and letting the audience use their imagination would have been more impactful. Sometimes it can be omitted altogether because it doesn’t further the plot or deepen our understanding of the characters involved. HBO shows are bad about obligatory nudity and I don’t need that. I have also seen it done very well and in ways that add to the movie rather than offering a simple display of a female body. Honestly, though, well done nudity is really, really rare.

I still haven't watched Wolf on Wallstreet bc of the men in my life. Maybe it's a great movie, Tensai Productions kinda has me convinced lol. But the vibe of every guy seemingly worshipping DiCaprio's character just gave me like a real low level ick lol

i really hope these are men you are forced by circumstance to interact with and not an entourage u formed willingly. Because if it is that's kinda your fault too

Loved your video man you got new and interesting things to say! Just some constructive criticism (If you feel like listening) -get a better mic or come closer to the mic your using. It ends up sounding more clear because you sound softer in your videos and therefore sound unclear -Background music when you talk so it doesnt sound very static(When its just you talking i mean) -Put chapters in so you can talk as much as you want but people have key points to hang onto And keep on going. Ik it takes alot of effort to make a video and it definitely shines through. Thanks for listening

I also think City of Women is a 5 star film....So weird (in a good way) to hear someone else say it too. Loved this video, I appreciate your takes!

9:29 i get you here, but i also think the backlash against intimate scenes is an extension of the revile the general public had to "the hero kisses the girl" scenes in the 2000s. what originally felt natural in films of the 60s-70s now felt forced into the narrative, seemingly just to prove that the lead male character wasn't gay. Yes intimacy is part of human nature but not every single film needs a reminder that the lead character is virile and can make love anytime.

I came to check the part in one of your videos about Dobbie but ended up watching more. I really like the confrontation with yourself part, specially because I'm guilty in indulging in the same sin.

My partner and I both have trouble hearing, and while I was excited to watch this video, all of the commentary seems to have equal volume music overlaid on top of it? We had to stop watching because it was very frustrating and overestimulating. I am bummed because I really wanted to watch this. It seems like a good video.

I love this film. The 8minute scene where he tempts Coach Taylor on the boat is just amazing. You should not like the character. Please don’t like Jordan Belfort.

I understand the point the movie was trying to make about how men of that wealth, power and stature treat/look at women.... but that doesn't mean the script has to treat/look at these women in the same way. truly god awful movie that unleashed braind dead unthinking men pretending like they're leo from this movie

Hmm I think the difference between liking something like Goodfellas over silence is more in the fun dialogue and genre trappings rather than the indulgence, for me anyway. I think silence is boring because imo the characters are less entertaining. It probably is thematically sound but that isn't the only important thing when telling a story. I don't really even like wolf of Wall Street for similar reasons. I thought is was boring and the dialogue was weak. The characters weren't very intriguing. I mean in general most people will be more attracted to characters who have control or seem to have control of their environment over those who don't. The silence characters are put up on the entire time. There is no control or the facade of it

nude scenes are awkward and unnecessary for the pot in a great majority of movies, i wish movie maker get the point and nake them less or stop or something not by law but by choice

you have a lot of interesting things to say but 45 minutes to make your point about separating what a film is intended as and how dumb people take it could've been made in five or ten minutes.
